  1. I know we've had the conversation a hundred times but the current transfer system is rotten. Fans having to hope that "Hill will consider a return to BGSU as he explores his options" is a crummy spot to be in. Having to rerecruit your stars every year is a thankless one-way relationship. While I appreciate the players embracing the opportunity for "empowerment," there is a correction coming. A semi-pro sport with uninhibited free agent movement will not have longevity. Time will tell, people don't want to root for a random collection of mercenaries every year. Fans and donors make the world of college sports go 'round and fans are getting shorted right now. Without our dollars, college kids could absolutely play basketball with each other, but no one would care, pay, or watch. A fan union might be in order to remind players, coaches, ADs, etc who's really the boss.

  3. I love the idea of a trophy with UMASS. We're such similar schools and we desparately need something to build student interest and elevate school pride. A rivalry can't hurt and let's face it, despite winning a ton of games in this conference not one MAC school considers us a rival.

  4. Lani Cornfield from Lake Shore HS and member of the Seneca nation is transferring to UB from Southern Mississippi. She will be a Senior. 25.2 mpg. 8.3 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 91 assists, 54 steals. Shot 41.1% FG and 39.6% 3-Pt (best on the team). Tenacious defender. Sounds like a solid add. She is 5'6 and listed as a guard.

  5. I hear you on PG being a weak spot, especially because Adams (still on the team as of now) handled so much point. But inside we're replacing Sy and Jo with Oboh as things stand. We already had weak rim protection and suspect rebounding. Replacing a star and a vet role player with one unknown freshman is questionable. PG: Fulcher SG: Boldin, Sabol Wing: Adams, Graham, Batchelor, Wilson, McVeigh, Jackson, Akot PF: Williamson C Oboh It's just a very strange roster balance at this point with only one spot yet to fill.

  11. Without NIL, I believe what you are hoping for is likely not attainable this year. Those guys are going to want a little action to make a move. Maybe our staff can lure someone with those qualification. for this signing i do like it and AJ having a friend on the team could help too. This years team was obviously fractured and didn’t seem to like each other much. I would prefer a team that likes each other and wants to play together. I see these upsets with Oakland, Yale even Samford, etc. are groups where the sum is greater than its parts. That’s what we need to get back on track.

  12. I know I keep adding but I watched a lot of his highlights because Syracuse had a ton of interest in him out of HS. He was known as a dead eye three point shooter who also had quite a bit of athleticism. Can be moved around from the SF to PF position depending on matchups. I know on paper his stats don’t jump off the page but this dude can ball

  13. Just saw this from 2/24. Funny you mention needing rogaine. While we were watching Saturday's game we decided to take a drink every time BB adjusted her hair. Shitfaced by the end of the first quarter. Gotta love Uber.

  18. Nice pickup. Presutti and GH3 get the shoutout on his IG announcement. Plus all our freshmen are all over his post with positive stuff, so it looks like they're still invested here after a bad season. Also Gavin Doty liked Oboh's post. I think we're in good shape with him. If I had to guess our freshman class will be Jackson, Oboh, and Doty, with the other 3-4 spots filled by transfers/JUCOs.

  20. He's just a painfully unintelligent man. I read his quotes like people watch car crashes, unable to look away. Like, what??? “Any time you reach an aspiration of running your own program and all the work that you put in, all the years of work that goes into getting to that point that you’re an FBS head coach, I will tell you it was an extremely difficult decision to leave that,” Linguist told the Tuscaloosa (Ala.) News. “I wouldn’t have left it for anything.”

  21. I am watching this game solely because it will be what, 8 months until UB Ball is back in action(?) and I know I'll miss it, regardless of how this season has gone. There's a quote from the movie Garden State where Zach Braff's character talks about not feeling at home when he's home, but still being homesick for it and he says "it's like being homesick for a place that doesn't exist anymore." If I had to pick a way to summarize the way I feel about UB Ball right now it would have to be that. I yearn for the Hurley days. The Oats days. Players absolutely jacked up to win the hard hat. That was UB Ball. That was home. That is gone. Or maybe I just miss being in my 20s... the world may never know 😅 GH3 you've got a lot to prove this off-season. 40 more minutes. Go Bulls 🤘

  22. Except UB is a public institution and joining the Ivy League would throw a wrench into the NLRB decision involving Dartmouth. I prefer Molson Golden to either of these two. At what level do you think the Ivy League plays football?

  23. Having a second PG especially one that had previous d1 experience would have made a major impact Not a coincidence that once fulcher really settled in that UB started to look more organized and like an actual D1 team ha

  26. Not worried about seniors either, just thought it was interesting that the entire class has cleared out. However, experience has correlated with success in the covid era especially for mid-majors. I agree that guys with two years of eligibility are ideal to fill two of the three open spots. We know we need one scholarship to free up after next season to fit Quintin Cooper '25 (our best recruit yet under GH3). Odds are one or more will transfer out after next season anyway, but I'd bet we bring in at least one senior now to guarantee that spot opens up.

  27. For the 2020 Mr. Basketball from a state as elite as Florida to not figure out how to star in the MAC as a junior or senior under two different coaches is absolutely a failure on Adams part, but that's not the main point of this conversation. Re: expectations for next year, I don't think he'll match the contributions of a younger Curtis Jones on a team anywhere near as good as Iowa State. Adams is a fine player, but he hardly has any killer instinct or alpha traits.

  30. Their Blue A collective is substantial and has many former athletes playing a role like Jordan Love. Their HC was also a successful former HC at Montana State prior to his job now, not a rookie. He’s also making $900k, more than twice what Halcovage III is making. Not an excuse as this year was an abomination, but the Utah State coach is more the exception than the rule, he did kill it this year and it’s an open secret he’s headed to Washington after this season ends. As a university they also seem to prioritize athletics as their “front porch”. SUNY clearly does not.

  31. That was borderline in that time and situation you just don’t make that call. But what a ride excited for next year. Would like to see an experienced post and more bench depth that can up scoring options. I’m confident the staff will be working with all the freshmen to further there development because this team is not sneaking up on anyone in the MAC next year. 🤘

  32. UB commit Brayden Jackson is playing/announced to the all Canadian team. I'm not familiar with it or it's history but it's something If you're bored check out the names also announced to this team while Jackson doesn't have any stars where I find him listed on recruiting sites the guys on this all Canadian team are all power conference recruits with 3/4/5 stars Gotta mean something good

  35. Sucks to have entered half time with the lead and then get blown out in the second half but I come away encouraged and knowing that we have a coach who can get us back to the tournament. Great second season for the ladies under coach Burke. Through all the turmoil and roster turnover. We were one half away. But I’m confident we can continue to build and win a title soon.

  36. Definitely. And let’s all agree that whatever happens tomorrow, win or lose, that we’re proud of this season and this group. Friendly reminder the MAC picked us to miss the tournament as 8th in the conference. Toledo was 10-2 favorites to win the tournament

  40. 6'10 from England? 56% FG, 70% FT that's a good start. 12.3 RPG with 5.0 ORPG. Looks like an inside presence we can really use! Let's go!!

  41. It's public. It's Brayden Jackson from Fort Erie Academy. Plenty of discussion on him in the Recruiting sub forum. I'll post something of my own when I get some time, but for now just a couple points of clarification to your previous post: RH3...not sure if you have Robert Griffin in the brain or? Sabol's three point shooting was not "off" most of the season. He was hot and cold for sure, with games of 0-4 0-5 0-6 balanced by 7-10 6-8 5-8. But he shot 37.6% on the season, which is excellent for anyone let alone a lightly recruited freshman. Boldin was a useful player and showed a lot of promise before getting shut down with an injury. He doesn't belong lumped in with McVeigh, who struggled with the speed and feel of the college game most of the year.

  45. Who's fault is it that there is no talent here? The main talent (and scoring 52% of the points on the season) that is on this current team was left from the previous regime. Why does this staff get a complete pass about not bringing in any players if this team is so "talent-less"? Last year's team lost pretty much all of their scoring coming into the season, yet somehow brought in enough "talent" to be a .500 team and make it to the MAC tournament (including leaving behind their most talented piece that didn't even get to play last year). The "the coach got started late" doesn't work, sorry. This isn't 2000 where you only can bring in freshmen and then have to develop them over the course of years. They didn't bring in a guy like Armoni - veteran PG to help the new guys, or a guy like Zid, who at least made games enjoyable to watch, as frustrating as he was a times to watch, or Adams, or Jo, or a major talent like Sy who had to sit out. There's no reason for UB to ever have 2 MAC wins and 3 wins overall at this point in the season, NIL, no NIL, whatever. Again, this roster is far more "talented" than those 2/3 wins anyhow, but this whole talk is ridiculous at this point. The MAC is far leaner than year's past, only 4 teams in the top 200 in the NCAA and 3 teams 300+! The pre-season schedule didn't have a ton of the "big name" opponents as they have in year's past. Yet somehow we're relegated to "this team has improved", versus having wins. There's many more multiples of double digit losses than wins, including the time of the somehow recently "improved" team. While I still go to the games and always support the teams and programs, I just can't understand how anyone can possibly see silver linings based upon what they've seen over the last several months of this team, and then possibly think that it's going to get drastically better once their (by far) best player is gone next year. At least when the Sabres suck, they at least pour on wins once their out of it (like they have been recently), and give people something to cheer over. We're still sitting on 3 wins (sorry, a 28 turnover "win" versus Roberts Wesleyan is not counted in my eyes) with only 2 games left to play. Maybe we can pull off a win on senior night and at least have something to smile about on Friday (versus the crowd leaving the games with their collective heads hanging like they have had to do most night's this year).

  48. Another win for Arkansas State. That's 8 of 9 to get them to 16-14 (11-6). They've clinched a bye to the Sun Belt tournament quarterfinals. Up to 132 in KenPom.
