I’m watching Bona against Clemson. Kenpom has Bona winning this by a point or two. I don’t buy it. Bonnie’s are decent defensively, but they are paper tigers offensively. Clemson is wiping the floor with them so far. I expect the Bulls to win in Olean, unless they rely on suspect three point shooting - in which case they could lose to a vastly overrated St Bona.

I would avoid FloHoops like the Plague, if I were you. I signed up last year. It never worked for me. I was unable to navigate its site, and never saw one second of any college basketball, let alone UB. I tried to cancel but was unsuccessful. I was unable to contact them by phone, text, or email. Every month they charged my credit card $29. I would call the bank and have the bill reversed. Finally after the 3rd or 4th month of doing that, the bank told me to destroy my credit card, and it issued me a new credit card number.

The MAC is going to be a dog fight again. Have to stay healthy, stick to fundamentals, preparation, execution, and good coaching. The team that ends up going to the NCAAs isn’t going to be handed it on a platter. So prepare for more games like tonight.

When UB beats Michigan, it can get choosy. But until then it should schedule tough opponents whenever possible even if they are all on the road. Show some confidence that you are a competitor. Beating Daemen at home doesn’t cut it. Schedule the toughest teams possible every year, even if you’ve got to go on the road. Every year. Show that you will mix it up. The MAC just doesn’t cut it anymore.

According to the oft stated presumption, our success should have led to fewer games against the better teams. Just the opposite occurred. If that isn’t paradoxical, I don’t know what is. But immediately after Oats left, we dropped the number of top teams. This year’s schedule sucks. UB has no interest in the big time. Just muddle along.

It’s early. Buffalo is a 10 pt underdog to the Bonnies per kenpom. Game is in Olean on Sat Dec 4. Students still in session. Buffalo is a 12 pt favorite vs Griffs downtown.

While I agree with your premise, I attribute Syracuse’s reluctance to play UB solely because of their Prima Donna coach, Jim Boeheim. The man can dish it out, but has the thinnest skin of all time. Look at their history of cupcake competition before conference play. He’s a great coach, but a whiner. As for BC vs UMASS: BC and UMass play yearly in a matchup better known as the "Commonwealth Classic." Started in 1906, the Eagles and Minutemen have faced each other 44 times with the good guys leading the series 26-18. Last year the event was held at the Garden and was won by BC 76-71, the 10th time the Eagles had won since 2000. (This was as of 2011. Bear in mind that BC played UMASS both years that Dr J played for UMASS. They split those games.)

The huge super-conferences are already unwieldy when it comes to equitable scheduling within said conferences. This could be offset by the NCAA acknowledging that much of college sports is a financially lucrative business. It could allow more games per week…which would increase revenues, pay for the expanded financial benefits of the student athletes, and mitigate the uneven scheduling that arises from super conferences. The Supreme Court has weighed in. Now is the time to further the nation’s addiction to bread and circus.
