  1. Was hoping the same thing but it doesn’t look like she’s in the portal. And I don’t think we have her major, unless she has her degree already.
  2. Buyout or given money to leave I view as the same thing. I don’t think he just voluntarily decided to leave without any monetary compensation. Remember Quentin Hillsman “resigned” too. He got a nice payday to resign, even though it’s possible he could have been fired for cause.
  3. She had a HUGE crowd cheering for her in the SBC-MAC game at alumni arena this year. Usually when we play a team that has a local they’ll bring a handful of family members. She brought a whole section. Joins Josh Mballa as a player to play us one season then join us for the next.
  4. The big question is are UB donors putting up money for Alnutt to be bought out? It doesn't matter how much we complain on twitter or this board, if the money isn't being put up he isn't getting fired/"resigning". Given Tripathi's age is it really worth buying out an AD when the president is likely to retire at any time? Alnutt has 2 years left on his contract. If it was going to be extended it would have been by now. There's a new football coach, a decent WBB coach, and possibly the worst D1 MBB coach we've ever had though he's only a year in. Short of Burke taking a new job this year (unlikely) or next year (possibly), Alnutt shouldn't have to make a major hire again. Obviously Bona's exclusively MBB donors care about the NIT enough to pony up money to buy him out. It's really unfortunate for Manhertz, apparently the Olean faithful did not tell him enough stories about the NIT Championship and/or the championship banner is not big enough for him to notice it.
  5. Mark Alnutt is local to WNY and has experience leading a WNY D1 athletics program. An A10 program, part of the most prestigious athletics conference in all of college sports, could easily add Mark to their program and would even be able to outbid a SEC team.
  6. We have our first BOOM of the season Losing: Point Guard: Rana Elhusseini Guard: Briyanna Baron Guard: Katie Burton Forward: Kiara Johnson Center: Chanteese Craig (per WBBBlog) Gaining: Forward: Brianna Barr-Buday (Nichols, Buffalo, NY) Offers from Manhattan, Marist, Saint Joseph’s, La Salle, Canisius, Niagara. Originally recruited by FLJ Point Guard: Mallory Daly (Pittsburgh, PA) seemingly no D1 offers despite scoring nearly 2k points in high school Point Guard: Aniya Rowe (Rochester, NY) Offers from Manhattan, Canisius, Binghamton Forward: Samairah Thompson (Columbus, OH) don't see anything for D1 offers Possibly Losing (Have Not Seen At Games, Still on Roster): Guard/Forward: Chryssi Gouzelou
  7. Oh look Bowling Green in our little pod.
  8. WNIT has history but WBIT gets first pick of teams. If we make a run it’s nice that we still have the WNIT reputation before most of the general public finds out it’s the #3 tournament.
  9. I don't think independent contractors typically get taxes withheld. And the non-cash NIL incentives (car, tattoos, limo ride to the 2005 Heisman Awards) are considered taxable too. Ideally the collectives will help educate everyone involved in the taxes involved, making ES payments, etc. In reality do you think most are?
  10. New this year is the WBIT, which has 32 teams.
  11. He also has a eFG% of .566 this year, first in the MAAAC. Similar to Mballa's first season here.
  12. They can snag our coach
  13. Yeah there's a few of them. I don't know if we get an invite since we're upper 100's NET, it'll be close. Assuming they're pay to play like the men's versions are, there's still value in playing those this year with this young roster.
  14. Maybe somebody needs to escort him out of the arena to cool down. Former UB student Tom Hallion can do the honors.
  15. Who are we pulling for in this second semifinals game? I got Kent State
  16. Barring something crazy, Chellia will finish the season with the third most points in a season for UB WBB!
  17. I need a Kent State-Akron final in hopes that the full diss track finally gets leaked.
  18. TB32 covers this season, but if you're talking broader success I would much rather have two NCAA tournament wins, 4 tournament championships in 5 years, and be nationally ranked for nearly an entire season than hang some regular season banners and play in a second or now third rate tournament. If you exclude 2018-19's dream team and a couple MAC Tournament Championships you get me closer to preferring Toledo's regular season success but in the end being in the NCAA tournament counts for so much in the public's eye.
  19. We trade GH3 for Tod straight up. They need a guy that won't choke in Cleveland every year. Last I checked GH3 has never lost a game as a head coach in Cleveland.
  20. Wiard lead the conference in a number of advanced stats and things like Win Shares. Not the flashy pick but acceptable IMO
  21. My analysis isn’t relevant anymore. Freshman of the Year goes to Kirsten Lewis-Williams!
  22. I think that’s old and they now have a recreation fee. We also don’t have 20 D1 teams anymore I think it’s a combination of a number of factors. No sports culture to begin with so nobody cares. UB is the cheap option, so lots of budget minded students that are here for the education aspect only. Pro teams in town so if you want to catch some sports you go there. (Joke’s on us, our tax dollars are still paying for those teams!) If the school decided to increase fees and it wasn’t put to a student vote, I suspect you would hear some complaining but overall it’s not going to decrease enrollment because UB is already cheap and a better value than most/all other SUNYs.
  23. UB students are going to oppose any sort of fee increase, especially one that would increase fees to our football program. Grad students especially would also oppose the athletic fee, which I can completely understand. Grad students also don't get admission to athletic events. JMU is a bit of a party school and doesn't exactly have an academic reputation. I didn't realize until after I graduated how much of UB is subsidized, whether by taxpayers or donors. Tuition is $3,535 a semester, which is an absolute steal especially compared to our academic regional (non-SUNY) peers for in-state tuition. UB $3,535 UMass Amherst $8,295.50 (includes athletics fee) UConn Storrs $8,505 Rutgers NB $6,837 Penn State UP $9,836 Yet you can go on the UB subreddit and find a bunch of undergrads that will complain about the cost of tuition being too high. The ROI if you don't get a meal plan and live off campus is absurd.
