  1. He also has a eFG% of .566 this year, first in the MAAAC. Similar to Mballa's first season here.
  2. They can snag our coach
  3. Yeah there's a few of them. I don't know if we get an invite since we're upper 100's NET, it'll be close. Assuming they're pay to play like the men's versions are, there's still value in playing those this year with this young roster.
  4. Maybe somebody needs to escort him out of the arena to cool down. Former UB student Tom Hallion can do the honors.
  5. Who are we pulling for in this second semifinals game? I got Kent State
  6. Barring something crazy, Chellia will finish the season with the third most points in a season for UB WBB!
  7. I need a Kent State-Akron final in hopes that the full diss track finally gets leaked.
  8. TB32 covers this season, but if you're talking broader success I would much rather have two NCAA tournament wins, 4 tournament championships in 5 years, and be nationally ranked for nearly an entire season than hang some regular season banners and play in a second or now third rate tournament. If you exclude 2018-19's dream team and a couple MAC Tournament Championships you get me closer to preferring Toledo's regular season success but in the end being in the NCAA tournament counts for so much in the public's eye.
  9. We trade GH3 for Tod straight up. They need a guy that won't choke in Cleveland every year. Last I checked GH3 has never lost a game as a head coach in Cleveland.
  10. Wiard lead the conference in a number of advanced stats and things like Win Shares. Not the flashy pick but acceptable IMO
  11. My analysis isn’t relevant anymore. Freshman of the Year goes to Kirsten Lewis-Williams!
  12. I think that’s old and they now have a recreation fee. We also don’t have 20 D1 teams anymore I think it’s a combination of a number of factors. No sports culture to begin with so nobody cares. UB is the cheap option, so lots of budget minded students that are here for the education aspect only. Pro teams in town so if you want to catch some sports you go there. (Joke’s on us, our tax dollars are still paying for those teams!) If the school decided to increase fees and it wasn’t put to a student vote, I suspect you would hear some complaining but overall it’s not going to decrease enrollment because UB is already cheap and a better value than most/all other SUNYs.
  13. UB students are going to oppose any sort of fee increase, especially one that would increase fees to our football program. Grad students especially would also oppose the athletic fee, which I can completely understand. Grad students also don't get admission to athletic events. JMU is a bit of a party school and doesn't exactly have an academic reputation. I didn't realize until after I graduated how much of UB is subsidized, whether by taxpayers or donors. Tuition is $3,535 a semester, which is an absolute steal especially compared to our academic regional (non-SUNY) peers for in-state tuition. UB $3,535 UMass Amherst $8,295.50 (includes athletics fee) UConn Storrs $8,505 Rutgers NB $6,837 Penn State UP $9,836 Yet you can go on the UB subreddit and find a bunch of undergrads that will complain about the cost of tuition being too high. The ROI if you don't get a meal plan and live off campus is absurd.
  14. I'm not. I listed each player's total stats and their conference stats in parentheses. For what it's worth the other players I have listed above are all freshmen and listed in the top 20 for a large majority of the stats. https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/conferences/mac/women/2024-leaders.html If you click on Paige Kohler, Amber Tretter, Kirsten Lewis-Williams, Alexis Davis it's easy to compare them against each other. For what it's worth I think the race for Freshman of the Year will not include Davis. I think Davis is a huge asset for the team and has one of the top 10 freshmen performances in a UB WBB uniform in the past decade, but her stats this year are below Tretter in every single category except FG%. I also expect to see Davis on the All-Freshman Team. Head to Head (to Head) Winners KLW: PPG, SPG, FG%, True Shooting %, Win Shares, Offensive Win Shares, Defensive Win Shares, Win Shares / 40, Offensive Rating, Steal %, Points Produced Per Game Kohler: APG, FT%, Usage %, Assist %, Turnover % (low) Tretter: RPG, BPG, 3PT%, Turnovers (low), Player Efficiency Rating, Defensive Box Plus/Minus, Defensive Rating, Total/Offensive/Defensive Rebound %, Block % Worth noting the stats I pulled are from the schools' websites, not sports-reference which I believe excludes non-D1 opponents. I think it's very possible that KLW gets the award, but it really could go to any of the three players.
  15. Yes she has another year of eligibility and, assuming she has a degree, is free to transfer again or stay here and play. In terms of the game it was ugly. Would have been nice to get the win but we're lucky that the game really didn't matter and we ended up with the higher seed anyway.
  16. This is what's most frustrating to me. We lost to the #6 team in the MAAC and the (oh wow) #8 team in the A10. The A10 is a strong/power conference so their multitude of bids makes the Bona loss bad, I guess. Though I can't believe Bona fell all the way to the 7 seed. If the A10 gets 5 or 6 teams in this year I'll chalk it up as a quality loss.
  17. It's actually absurdly close "in my opinion". How would you rank the resumes below for FOTY? Player 1 Total stats (conference stats) 12.1 (12.1) ppg 5.1 (4.8) rpg 2.9 (2.7) apg 1.4 (1.6) spg 0.5 (0.5) bpg 955 (615) minutes 46.8% (46.5%) FG 71.5% (72.5%) FT 11.1% (0.0%) 3PT (very low volume) 1.00 (0.89) assists to turnover ratio Player 2 Total stats (conference stats) 10.3 (11.6) ppg 7.7 (8.9) rpg 1.6 (1.3) apg 1.2 (1.4) spg 1.1 (1.2) bpg 865 (571) minutes 39.3% (38.7%) FG 76.3% (77.0%) FT 26.9% (26.9%) 3PT 0.82 (0.52) assists to turnover ratio Player 3 Total stats (conference stats) 10.7 (12.3) ppg 4.1 (4.6) rpg 3.7 (3.6) apg 0.9 (0.9) spg 0.0 (0.0) bpg 951 (628) minutes 33.3% (35.3%) FG 78.9% (77.8%) FT 26.9% (26.7%) 3PT 1.27 (1.25) assists to turnover ratio Player 4 Total stats (conference stats) 8.2 (8.3) ppg 6.6 (6.7) rpg 0.6 (0.8) apg 0.7 (0.7) spg 0.4 (0.3) bpg 762 (476) minutes 46.4% (46.0%) FG 63.8% (73.9%) FT 0.0% (0.0%) 3PT (practically 0 shots) 0.47 (0.67) assists to turnover ratio
  18. Anybody catch what happened to get him ejected?
  19. Why would this matter? Would the NLRB only want to cover college athletes if they were considered employees and could unionize across D1?
  20. That was why they fouled at the end of the game, why Rana tried to miss a shot (but made it), why we pushed the ball rather than run out the shot clock, and why Burke sent Rana to defend the basket on free throws rather than the 6'2" girl that was on the court. It's really great that we were in a position where the last 4 minutes of a game it turns into "get Rana a rebound above everything else" instead of "score more points, play better defense". This team will probably not win the MAC this year but they are very fun to watch and have a bunch of team players. Rana grabbed what everyone thought was her 10th rebound, which turned into a jump ball, and the entire bench erupted. Seems to be a hell of a lot different than what we had last year.
  21. I hope not but then again you never know. Hoping to see some good signs at the spring game.
  22. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Powder_horn Bull horn, used by minutemen. It makes too much sense. From 11.5 years ago: https://www.ubbullrun.com/2012/9/11/3317930/should-there-trophy-game-with-umass-what-should-it-be-for
  23. Jeez I thought there was a mercy rule. 😆
