  1. Fair enough and I agree with you. And I’d respect him more if he said that. Instead he said, for the record, “I was a high school math teacher six years ago, so it’s not about the money for us. Obviously the money doesn’t hurt. But I’d like to play for national championships. We can get to the Final Four here.”
  2. nate oats said in his press conference down there that it wasn't about the money... the money was nice, but he was a math teacher 6 years ago - and that he decided to come here bc he thought he could compete for a national title. can't have it both ways - he can't publically say the money wasn't the motivating factor and then also explain the move as "how possibly could he turn down the money"
  3. One thing about oats is that since high school he was stuyding to be a coach. He talked on a podcast about how he would buy coaching VHS tapes to watch as a teen. His whole life was focused in coaching. Bobby has much less experience- from his time in the NBA and then horse racing/private industry after he got into coaching much later. I think bobbys a good coach, but I think oats is better, probably because he’s been studying it longer
  4. That’s just for ventilation I think
  5. Campus dining and shops runs concessions. Based on the contract, Athletics has limited input to what they do and how they do. Athletics gets a set percentage of the revenue, which under the current contract is a shockingly low percentage. Right now concessions are not a major a revenue stream for the department, but that could change w a new agreement in future. Beer sales should give them better leverage on getting a higher percentage
  6. All the games during break and some marquee non break games this year would have been like more then half the schedule
  7. Btw, segu’s work effort is tremendous. There is an Instagram post of him taking shots at alumni at 1am after they got back
  8. 6k without students is great - since most of those tickets are revenue tickets instead of free student seats. It could have been the largest financial gate ever for the atheltics dept
  9. I'd think you'd have to nearly sell the place out to make up for the cost of renting the arena compared to using the free one on campus. Also, i'm not sure what the atmosphere would be like w/ 10k people. while a lot of ppl, it could feel dead bc the building is so much bigger Also, I do wonder how much the pegulas would embrace it. They are very supportive of UB athletics, but there is a limit to that support - at the end of the day we are competition for them.
  10. They have an unbelievable work ethic. Both were practing shooting at alumni at 3am after the team got back
