  1. A perfect example of the tampering. The AAU coach is doing the leg work and reporting back to the player as the season unfolds. Schools can’t talk to players who haven’t entered the portal, but they low key talk to AAU coaches, wink wink nod nod, kinda convo. And as the espn article said, if you ain’t having these convos, you’re getting left behind.
  2. The espn article answers and details all these questions. Including tampering, the one time transfer exception. How players who enter the portal can lose their existing scholarshi but usually don’t enter the portal without a plan.
  3. https://www.espn.com/college-football/insider/story/_/id/33630572/how-college-football-transfer-portal-turned-nfl-style-free-agency-another-level For anyone with ESPN+. Great portal article. Mostly about football but talks about all the intricacies of the portal
  4. Transfer Portal is NCAA equivalent of Free Agency.
  5. Agree. I said this in another thread about grad transfers using Fagan as an example. Bandaogo has a lot of raw potential. I actually think he’s transferring too soon.
  6. I have no issues with grad transfers. Most of those kids earn a bachelor’s from one school then future their education at another institution. And most likely aren’t going pro. Use Fagan as an example. Yes his intentions might be to transfer up. But in doing so he will further his education. And let’s just be real…at best he’s an overseas player. So graduation is important. Side note: if anyone transfers and then crushes it at another school, is that an indictment on the coaching staff’s ability to player develop?
  7. My fear is that we bring in players that will or expect to play right away and we won’t develop guys like Mading, Williamson and blocker. Then they get frustrated and hit the portal sooner rather than later. We need to give those guys extensive playing time.
  8. I like when metrics support the eye test. When it mattered most UB could not get a stop on defense. See Akron knocking us out of the tournament. Defense was an issue last year. Offense couldn’t bail them out.
  9. Wow. Striking numbers under Whitesell.
  10. I wonder what our turnovers on offense per game is too. If that went up in conjunction with turnovers forced going down…bad combo.
  11. Remember he blew out his knee twice. Prolly got medical redshirts
  12. Just saw this. It would’ve been nice to have him back. In my estimation he was in line to start. But I believe he only has one season of eligibility left.
  13. Agree. I’m not saying give out the playbook. But a basic statement acknowledging “We are aware that we are entering a transitional period in our program’s history bla bla bla, the administration is working diligently to keep UB basketball at the elite level we’ve come to expect. We ask for patience from our fans and we ask that our student athletes give us the time to present them a coach that will lead them to future success.” IDK something like that.
  14. That is not what I’m saying. Other than a social media post has he said anything publicly to give the program, players and fans some comfort? I’m not aware of any such comments. Where’s the leadership? Even a basic statement giving an indication on what they are looking for. Instead nothing and the ship has sunk. The minute FLJ bolted calls should’ve been made to potential candidates or their agents. Again goes back to him as an AD having a list that only he knows about ready to go. Especially when we knew this would be the outcome. Gotta move quickly or get left behind. Maybe he is doing this. But some acknowledgment of what is happening would be nice.
  15. Whoever takes over will have no one on the roster. This is a bloodbath. I know it’s barely been a week since FLJ left but Alnutt is moving very slow, considering WE ALL KNEW FLG was gone.
  16. Keep an eye/ear out for Georgia to announce something tomorrow.
  17. That’s the one bright thing about next season. Zero expectations and hopefully a young roster that can go out there and grow together
  18. We very well might win only 4 games next year. Then we can hope to be Iowa state the year after lol
  19. Yea but how many times is my question? Even if this is your 2nd transfer? Or 3rd? No sit out ever?
  20. Correct. So the current rule is that you get one “get out of jail free card”? Then every transfer after that you must sit out
  21. It’s a complete program reset. Blank canvas. Sad days since the women lost.
  22. Can someone find the answer to this question…are players allowed one free transfer before they have to sit out? Or is it transfer all you want?
  23. It’s a full blown rebuild. We just lost our entire starting 5. Plus bench players. The question facing Whitesell and the staff is how do they attack the rebuild?
  24. At this point it’s fair to wonder, for both programs, who is next? Woolley? Blocker?
