Done in the first round. This year’s team just wasn’t the same as a year ago. They lost their toughness and defense when Petty and Jones left for the nba. And their offense was pretty bad at shooting 3s. Which is pretty much their offense if they aren’t getting run outs. Nate failed to change the dna of this team this season.

Neither team is dancing so, how good were they really playing? We also were undefeated in the month of February. Obviously turned out to be fools gold. The minute Niagara makes a tourney, Paulus is gone.

Slight digression but we need to be more assertive recruiting our own state. I know downstate will be hard but we gotta keep local Buffalo and Rochester talent. I really get irked seeing kids from Rochester perform well at other MAC schools. Time to establish local pipelines. Williams and Blocker are great examples.

Love the ambition but let’s not go down this road again. Remember the Gonzaga of the east with the men? Until the university is willing to spend millions to keep coaches, we will never reach that level. Sad fact. However we can be that school that launches coaches to higher ground. IE Nate Oats. Bring in young up and comer coaches who win a mac title or two in their stint here then rinse/repeat. It’s what we failed to do with the men. Let’s not repeat that mistake with the women. Gotta stay progressive.

Of course the question is who would then be the next coach. What direction does the AD go in. And of course…what players portal out.

Just tying up loose ends…the basketball classic tournament will feature 21 teams. Pretty sad that they wanted 32 and settled for 21. Poor planning. Poor expectations. Either trim it next season or dissolve it. On the UB front, I have to think we got an invite and declined? If that’s the case I’d like to know why? Just what’s the reasoning. Lol…hey a loss to a really bad team might wake up the administration and give the fire Whitesell bunch more ammo. But in all seriousness if that were to happen, at least we would know what to address this off season and what to expect next season.

I agree with playing in the post season. For everything that has been said but also for recruiting, branding and exposure. We need to play into March. Recruits wanna see that. Plus by the administration letting the team play it shows commitment to the program also.

Exactly. If the seniors don’t wanna play ok fine, throw the younger guys out there for a game. We get to immediately see what next year will be like.

Theoretically they have 16 teams now. If they can’t get more they could just make it a sweet 16 style tournament.

There’s been one more additional. Maryland eastern shore. With a record of 11-15. Lol. This tournament is shaping up to be a joke. Far from what they envisioned. But damn I’d like to know if we were at least invited.

So it seems as though The Basketball Classic is having trouble getting 32 teams. 2 have declined so far. 12 accepted. If we don’t get invited to this it will be insult to injury. Whether we accept the invite is anyones guess.

Our NET was 118. I’m seeing teams with way worse get into tournaments.

Who afford what? Schools no longer have to pay to host a game in TBC (formerly CIT). Saving money in that regard. The CBI is being played all at one site in Florida. Smart.

CIT is now the Basketball Classic. It has expanded to 32 teams and no more pay to host. Ohio made the CBI. I’d imagine Kent gets an invite to the basketball classic. Maybe we do?
