  1. He was really special. I’m not sure if we anyone realized until we saw him playing but he was a hell of a recruit with an instant impact
  2. Since we are all looking to hear about guards, figured I would mention this as a possibility. Chose Houston over us, and is once again in the transfer portal. Went from playing 25.4 minutes per game at Idaho to just 9.9 at Houston
  3. This is great. Still need guards though, can’t have a full roster of nothing but forwards. Hope we hear something soon about Jones or another talented guard.
  4. Hutchinson was Hodgson but Indian Hills is regularly pumping out D1 players on a yearly basis
  5. To be fair, my response was very boomerish 😂
  6. Hopefully they are, trust me I completely get it though. If I was in their position I’d look for every sort of loophole to keep playing college ball as long as I could
  7. Yea actually. I understand enjoying playing but at some point you have to join the adult world. Thinking about it from a long term financial position, they should start building their bank accounts up and start saving for retirement. Compound interest is an amazing thing at their age
  8. Let me ask you, how does me knowing Kidtrell mean I know the reasons for his decision? Does me knowing him automatically mean I know every single thing about him? Want me to tell you his favorite color and his hopes and dreams too?
  9. What a joke of a response. Just because I know Kidtrell means I should be a D1 coach? Get over yourself lol. Also if you realized the coaching/athletic experience I actually have you wouldn’t have responded so smugly. I’m not going to publicly identify myself on here though. I’m also a HUGE fan of you ignoring my further comment. Guess it didn’t fit the narrative you have in your head huh?
  10. Incorrect, speak for yourself, not for me. So you haven’t seen what he has to offer but are still forming opinions of his ability based off of........ what exactly? Edit: To clarify, I don’t think the sky is falling when it comes to recruiting. It’s been an extremely abnormal year for recruiting with Covid changing everything. Even Nate Oats missed on numerous prospects so having Kidtrell commit elsewhere isn’t the end of the world. With that being said I also don’t appreciate the narrative of “who cares? Just trust in the coaching staff, they’ll figure it out.” When the current staff has only hit on 1 or 2 out of their numerous recruits so far. Having unrealistically high expectations is one thing, being completely nonchalant about poor staff performance is another.
  11. This is literally going to be his 6th college season. Dude go play overseas, get your own place, start a family or something.
  12. I care. We’ve never recruited LeBron or Jordan level players in our entire history. He’s a very talented, big guard - a position we sorely need more depth in and we were beat out by Georgia State. You’re certainly right about the staff filling in the needed slots, but this stings especially since he’s from Rochester and knows Jeenathan. Recruiting lagging behind again in my eyes
  13. Which is part of what made him and Hodgson such effective recruiters. Athletes love the spotlight, they love fanfare and such a large part of recruiting nowadays is based on clout and feeling wanted. The new leadership is different in their approach and it’s definitely an adjustment to get used to it compared to previous years
  14. Whenever he’s hitting his 3s we struggle. It’ll be interesting to see if they can hold him to another poor 3 point outing like last game
  15. I know I’m ready for the off brand Lamelo Ball to receive endless praise from the commentators no matter how he plays
  16. Solid points all around. Personally I’d like to see Segu more aggressive offensively. Not sure if anyone remembers that guard Ohio had, something Cooper, who could take anyone off the dribble and was an aggressive playmaker but Segu absolutely has the ability to play similarly. That shiftiness that made him famous needs to make more appearances. Jayvon is a victim of the talent that surrounded him in his first two seasons. Defenses were too preoccupied with the rest of the roster having the ability to drop 20+ points on them that he was able to sneak into open spots and have plenty of wide open 3s. My opinion on the coaching is pretty common knowledge at this point but the lack of identity really circles back to Coach Whitesell. Just like Jayvon, he is a fantastic role player but doesn’t quite have what it takes to be “the guy.” The identity under Hurley was swagger, confidence, deep threes and flashy open court passes from Shannon Evans. The identity under Oats was discipline, unselfishness, and relentlessness. The identity under Whitesell is what exactly? Players respond to the energy of their coach. For example this team looked much better when Thorpe temporarily took over because he is firey and energetic. That same team comes out looking less prepared because Whitesell is a teacher-coach and not a motivator-coach
  17. With coaches, you get what you pay for. The same goes for their history. Whitesell has a long head coaching career and a .500 career record. I don’t understand how Alnutt thought that would change. Not every good assistant coach is cut out to be a head coach. Whitesell is a great guy, nice person, but personally I think the good coaches have to be able to say the unpopular opinion. The good coaches are motivators and firey competitors that hate losing more than anything else. If you want to stand out in this industry, you have to have a chip on your shoulder and something to prove
  18. I think the luck score is negative for this team
  19. But our Kenpom ranking is similar to previous coaches were in their 2nd year man that has to count for something right?
  20. Nope they absolutely played better
  21. Crazy we thought he’d be the next Harris
