  1. It did not take 5-6 offers. Do not believe everything you read.
  2. Unless something has changed since 2006, he will be a very hard hire. Turner Gill wanted him as an assistant. They had to get waivers, because he never graduated PItt. They got the waivers and then he went to the NFL, the Bills I think.
  3. What about Bryant at Kentucky? What about Bryant at Texas A&M? How far do you think that more than $675,000.00 goes in Tuscaloosa? I have had three jobs in 40+ years. One move was a "demotion". The next one was for a "promotion". Although not the only reason, more money was a factor in both moves.
  4. Brother of former UB DB Najja Johnson.
  5. For those with Directv, game is on MASN, channel 640.
  6. Grammar is a major issue for all recruits. How many times have you seen a post that a person is thankful for their third offer from East Succotash State? They only received one offer from that school. The first two offers were from other schools.
  7. Zack Maynard model to play with his brother.
  8. City after city shows that investments in stadiums/arenas is bad economically. The student athletes get scholarships, medical care and now over the last few years mental health assistance. Not sure how giving students that is communism. Not paying students for paying sports is a position that I have believed in for decades.
  9. Yes. Why else would you go to a game but to see the game? Weather permitting I will be in Buffalo in January and February/March. There are games on both Saturdays. I will be there to watch basketball.
  10. I never said it had to be one or the other. I like the winning. I enjoy the trips to the bowl games. I have been to Columbus, Providence, Tulsa, Albany and Storrs for the NCAA tournament. However, education is more important to me than winning.
  11. Not if you believe in education first. I will take 0-12 and 0-30 turning out people with real degrees.
  12. Unless you look at that UB has coaches that others deem good enough to poach.
  13. You are telling me that somebody goes to a basketball game for what happens during media timeouts and halftime? I though people went to basketball games to see basketball.
  14. The court ruling would have only applied to the one person at West Virginia who brought the suit. Without the stipulation one game played by someone else could have cost a year of eligibility.
  15. First the NCAA would not be providing anything to the athletes, it would be the individual schools. Do you count the value of the education and fees as income against "minimum wage" payments. That would require taxes to be paid. Where does an 18 year old get the money to pay taxes on the value of their education? Think about a kid at Duke. Where do they get the money to pay taxes on over $60,000.00? As for unionizing, only 14 FBS schools are subject to the National Labor Relations Act. The rest are public employers and only subject to their individual state laws on employer-employee definitions and unionization. Have you also taken into account all of the extra expenses that go along with students being employees? For example New York State employees vest for a pension after five years of employment. Do the athletes qualify for a pension and lifetime health insurance like of New York employees? How much will it cost schools to cover all of their athletes for workers' compensation benefits? This would not be limited to football and basketball teams. It would have to apply to all teams. Furthermore, everything that wants people give these benefits to Division I athletes, the same relationship between schools and athletes apply at Division II and Division III schools as well, as it relates to employer-employee relationship.
  16. Because this is what matters! https://ubbulls.com/news/2023/12/11/athlete-academic-affairs-ub-athletics-posts-highest-graduation-rate-in-program-history.aspx
  17. The number of players who end up nowhere or in lower divisions, where the never wanted to play has been high the last few years. When the payers realize they may never play again at the FBS level they will start to stay and play. IT will take time for the see to the numbers as this has just started. After a few years the experience of time will helpful bringing this to an end.
  18. Not true. Within weeks of UB dropping to D-III in 1977 people were already talking about UB getting back to the D-I level. When the Run to Division I was put into effect the idea was to go what was then D-IAA football. The building of the stadium for the World University Games was the key to getting back to Division I. What was not planned was the move to D-IA, that was decided when President Greiner got the offer to move into the MAC.
