So is it okay to talk about Reggie's performance now or do you want to wait until he loses to an RPI 300+ team?  The MAC is absolutely farking horrendous, so UB will probably win about 12 conference games and that will be just enough for some of you.  It's like the Bills under Jauron.  There were just enough lousy teams for the Bills to beat so they wouldn't be at the bottom but they were nowhere near as good as their record indicated.

I thought about re-creating this thread as well, thanks for doing it. Honestly, if we can't discuss his job status after a terrible, terrible loss like that, we never will be able to.

You have to win games like that and Reggie's teams have consistently played down and sometimes failed to win against these teams. It is funny that after the loss people started talking about how underrated Jacksonville was, when in reality we should have beat them by double digits. If the defense plays like they did today in any MAC game they will get trounced and if they do it in the MAC Tournament they'll be going home quick.

Relax buddy.

When the time is right for a change, I'm sure Mr Manuel will make the change.  He's shown he'll make the best decision for UB.

Yes today's loss was terrible, but I ask everyone to please hold off on Fire the coach talk.  Believe me, it doesn't help.  It might help people to let off some steam, but that's it.  If you really want to let off some steam, pick up the phone and demand to talk with the AD.

Anyway, as the World's Most Interesting Man from the Dos Equis commercial would say.  There's a time and place for that.

Thanks in advance.

Warde wants to hear you whine about as much as we do, so shut up about it. I don't care that your angry after every freaking loss, go cheer for Syracuse or someone that rarely loses

Every game there is a 50/50 chance for your team to win, one team is happy the other is not...We have won 60% of the time this year.  Besides CC43, all the rest of you are basically new to this board and I wouldn't be suprised if your freshman who have grown up on Big East Basketball and want UB to be getting those same players and demolishing everyone.  Zibby you had one decent point we are in the horrendous MAC, recruits know its been the horrendous MAC lately and go elsewhere. We aren't this team of elite players who should destroy everyone.  We are a Mid Major who on any given day have similar players to every other team we play.  It's the coaching and discipline that makes a team greater or less than .500 team and we have been consistently greater than .500 yearly.

And for the love of ____ stop comparing Collegiate Mid Major sports to any Professional Teams.  The whole purpose of 99% of student athletes is to get a great education first and sports second.

http://bull-run.blogspot.com/2009/12/examining-spoon.html

The question that UB fans, and the administration needs to ask is this; 'how much longer is merely being respectable an acceptable result for UB Basketball?'

Despite the leading or biased way in which the question might come across there are reasons to think the status quo is ok. Don't believe me? look at fellow SUNY school Binghamton! While it's possible to dance without completely surrendering the student part of "student athlete" Binghamton serves as a warning to those who put the title above all else.

I'll always be a supporter of athletics on campus as an enhancement of the university environment. Witherspoon has been above reproach in its behavior towards recruits. His players behavior on and off the courts has been similarly impressive. Because of the class, and twenty win seasons, I have to lean towards supporting Spoon. His contract runs out in 2012 and nobody has presented a compelling reason to fire a coach who gets you twenty wins a year and does so with players who you can be proud to call Bulls.

If we are in the "horrendous" MAC and haven't been able to win it one single time in Reggie's 10 years, shouldn't we get rid of him?

I am not new to this board, yet I think these guys calling for Reggie's head do have a point. They just go about it in an annoying a$$ way.

This loss ,while bad, is not totally unacceptable. Jacksonville lost to Florida, Florida State, Cal, and South Carolina. UB would have a similar record if they played that schedule. And J ville  is picked to win their conference. So they are likely better than they appear. However I agree it's the same old thing losing games you should win and need to win to take that next step if your program is really improving.

When poor shooting and turnovers cost you a game, it's not your opponent.  It's you.

As opposed to being forced into poor shooting and turnovers by your opponent?

We were only favored by 5 points. I don't see why you think they were such a terrible team. Yes, it was a bad loss and a game that we should have won, but it was pretty much a home game for Jax and our two best players shot a combined 33%. We will come back today with a win against Liberty and go on from there. The season is far from over. This is just a (non-conference) regular season game, so it doesn't matter, right?

This does not belong in the list you have above

Jax not as bad as their record, home game for them, ...., .... the shooting pct is in our controll..

Hey I want Reggie out of here ASAP all I'm saying is Jacksonville is not as bad as their record would indicate. That and because of the history of this coach no loss surprises me especially on the road or nuetral court. And no conference is that much below any team from the MAC.

I was just saying that it really isn't Reggie's fault that Pierce and Betts shoot 33%. He could take them out, but that wouldn't be a very smart thing to do. He has to keep them in and hope that they will start hitting shots.
