My money is on Jerry Davis for one reason, and one reason only. Experience. The kid has more than anyone else. But I will say one thing, from highlights, and I know they are just that - his best of the best, this Tyler Warden looks like he might be the real deal. I'd be surprised if he doesn't get some burn this year. He reminds me of Tony Pike, Quinn's trigger man the last couple years at Cincy...

It will not be Tyler Warden.
I think it will be Jerry Davis, although I wouldnt mind seeing Dennison take over the starting job. Whoever is the starter will have to be just as prepared mentally than they will be physically. Also, relationships and timing with the recievers will play a big role in who takes the job over.

Very good point ChiTown. I was at the last pre-season CFL game this past Sunday (I know, I know......CF-what; and who cares?). The point is that Kevin Glenn (Illinois State) the QB for Hamilton was throwing passes to rookies and they kept dropping them; the timing was just not crisp. Then he throws a few to his old friend Arland Bruce (Minnesota) and you get two first downs and a 45 yard TD.
Whoever starts will need to really work at getting on the same page as the receivers. My guess is that will take some time, and that most of us will be grumbling about bad routes; poor throws; and dropped ball at first. Then when it clicks into place, it will be a lot of fun to watch.
For what it's worth, I'd like to see Dennison start.

Willing to bet some deep fried turkey (and a Blue Light or two) at a tailgate that by the third game you will see Cory Jorgenson under center. Maybe not the physical skills as the rest of the QB's but has the brains to pull off the quick throws and reads needed in this Offence. Also the hardest working QB on the team physically and mentally. On a different point, they are installing new lights at the stadium as we speak. That is interesting. Just placed all new brighter bulbs in before last season. Drilling giant holes right now.

I have to fry up a couple turkeys at a game, then I would not mind losing that bet. We did turkeys last year and they turned out great.

This year on the field:
In 2009 UB's two deep featured the Sophomore Zach Maynard and the Freshman Jerry Davis. Neither player will be leaving UB any time soon. In addition to Maynard and Davis UB has Cory Jorgensen (Junior next season) and Alex Dennison (Freshman next season) .
Funny how things turn out.

When Coach Quinn spoke to the alumni in New York City in May he stated that he does not believe in redshirting a player before he shows up on campus. It is his belief if the player knows that there is no way they are going to play that year they will not go all out in practice. He wants his 24 best players on the field now. If a true freshman can and deserves to play they will play. This fits in with the coach's philosophy that the students come to UB to get a degree and to play football. College is supposed to be a four year process (for most majors). You do not come wanting to be there for five years. If for some reason it becomes a five year experience then fine.

So, do you think that we have a freshman QB coming in that can pick up this game plan?

I believe Tyler Warden has a legit shot. I saw him throw at practice the other day and the kid has an arm and size! This is Tony Pike. I believe he has better speed then Pike but he was throwing hard and quite frankly with more velocity than any Q on the field that day. He comes from a football family and was playing at a high level of football where he went to high school. They played tough nationaly ranked schools and seemed to handle them well. Illinois is a hot bed for players and this kid is a find! What i hear is Warden's quarterback coach a former pro really promoted him to Quinn. You should see the kid play hoops!!! His high game last season was 41 points!! Hats off to Quinn for getting this kid. I also heard his brother whos going to be a senior is looking at UB as a MLB. Go bulls

Welcome to the board. Hope to see you become a regular around here. I'm sure Warden has some talent, but I dont think there is any way he can capture a starting spot this year. I think he would have to many obstacles to climb. With that said, I can see him pushing for a spot next year.
