Selecting the starter without seeing most of them play at all is close to impossible.  All I can go by is the spring game and Davis seemed to look really good when he rolled out.  His ball had good velocity and seemed accurate when he was rolling out.  To me he didn't seem as comfortable in he pocket when he just dropped back.  Alex's ball seemed wabbly but he did complete several passes and he looked more comfortable in the pocket.  My guess is Davis starts.  Of the three new QB who should be on campus now, two will probably redshirt and one will probably switch positions.

Did Cory throw any balls at the spring game?  Has anyone heard how he is throwing the ball on the 7 vs. 7 drills the players are running so far?

Just want to say I am heartened to hear about all the 7 on 7 drills the players are running... UB should be as well prepped this season as any, if whoever gets the nod at QB can get their timing down this will be a very dangerous team..

To be perfectly honest, since the players have putting in alot of extra work this off season, timing shouldnt really be an issue come the URI game.  Timing, which can go hand in hand with accuracy, can be worked out with repetition.  However, what might be slightly off is the decision making process.  Last year, Maynard seemed to have trouble with both through out last year, hopefully who ever steps in as QB1 this year, can build and improve every game.

I don't care how much 7 on 7 you do, it is not the same as game experience.  Hitting an open guy in 7 on 7 lacks just a bit of the pressure of finding someone open in the red zone where the windows of opportunity close quickly while knowing that if you don't get the ball in there, it might cost the game.  Everything happens a lot faster for an unexperience QB, especially one who is working in a new system.

No matter who is QB this year, expect more bad decisions than you would like.  One thing that this year's QB has going for him though that last year's didn't is that he is following a 1st year starter and not a 4 year starter who was good enough to get on an NFL roster.  He will not compare favorably to DW, but fortunately, he won't have to, he will only have to compare favorably to that guy from last year and that won't be as hard.

The QB maturation process reminds me of this story:
A wealthy businessman was giving an interview and was asked, "To what do you attribute your remarkable success?"  To which he responded, "Two words:  Good decisions."
He was then asked, "Why do you think you make such good decisions?"
He replied, "One word:  experience."
"How do you get that kind of experience?"

"Two words: bad decisions."

This year's starting QB, whoever he may be, will be getting experience in much the same way as the businessman in this story.

Agreed,  the 7 on 7 drills arent "live game experience"  However what I was trying to point out is that they help the QB get a "feel" for the WR and the other way around.  That really does  help alot.  What will be lacking is the decision making process, and I agree with you, that comes from real games and learning from the good and bad results.

No argument that the 7 on 7 will help a lot, but it will still be a 1st year starter at the wheel.

Willing to bet some deep fried turkey (and a Blue Light or two) at a tailgate that by the third game you will see Cory Jorgenson under center.  Maybe not the physical skills as the rest of the QB's but has the brains to pull off the quick throws and reads needed in this Offence.  Also the hardest working QB on the team physically and mentally.  On a different point, they are installing new lights at the stadium as we speak.  That is interesting.  Just placed all new brighter bulbs in before last season.  Drilling giant holes right now.

I hope you took my advice to limit your bets.

Ty Warden, He actually has potential, unlike Davis.

Whoa, what?  I'd love to know the reasoning behind that conclusion.

My two cents, if Jerry is the QB for the season, this is going to be a very long and frustrating year.  Someone has to step up and make opposing D's respect the pass or the RB's are going to have a stacked box to deal with.

Ok, Im curious what KaMassare and yourself are seeing that is leading you to that conclusion.  Because what I saw from Davis the 09 spring game when he was competing with Maynard for the starting job, there wasnt to big of a difference between them, and led me to think that both could have operated the offense efficiently.  So what are you guys seeing?

All those passes against Ohio U in the first quarter, and the spring game, gave them an ample amount of material to base potential on...
