#3 UCF -
http://www.ubbullrun.com/2010/08/know-foe-3-ucf.html
Last year the UCF game epitomized most of the games which would Follow, this years the match up against the knights has a real chance at playing the same role in Buffalo's season. Before UB hits conference play they are likely to have either one or two wins (Outside shot at Baylor, Any Given Sunday at UConn). Fortunately we get the Knights up NY this time, so despite the rebuilding going on in Amherst UB has one thing going for them.
Were UCF in the MAC the would probably be one of the top four teams, so beating them would not only move us into conference play with two wins, but it will give us some idea of where we stand against the MAC conference games that wrap up our schedule. A win means that we should be able to beat the other middling teams on our schedule (BSU, EMU, Akron, Miami) to secure bowl eligibility and perhaps, even crack one of the more difficult teams like Ohio, Temple, or NIU.

#2 Baylor -

Traveling to Texas to play is not ever going to be easy, UB barely escaped from El Paso last seasons against a team that is not nearly as good as Baylor will be this season. The early trip to the lone star state will provide the Bulls with one of their two most daunting test of the season. There is an upside and a downside to playing Baylor so early in the season. The up side is that after one week of warming up against Rhode Island UB will be tested before they hit their out of conference must win against UCF. The down side is that you are almost a lock for losing this game in week 2.
Beating a BCS team is huge for a team for a non BCS conference, even if the team defeated is not a powerhouse. Toledo's shootout against Colorado was a nice feather in their cap, even if the Buff's were at best a middle tier BCS team. Baylor is not a top 25 team but they are likely a better program than CU was last year so walking out of Texas with a win would be a huge step for Jeff Quinn's Bulls.

#1 Rhode Island -

I am generally not a fan of scheduling FCS teams, some of you know this so I would be remiss if I did not admit I'm being something of a hypocrite when I say "I am thrilled we open up the season against a middling FCS team". This is not to say that a team like UB breaking in a new coach, quarterback, receivers should take any opponent lightly, especially in week one, but it is a relief that Davis (or whoever starts) will be facing Rhode Island and not Baylor right off the bat.
Every once and a while an FCS team catches an FBS team napping, sometimes it's because the FCS team is that good (Villinova over Temple, App State over Michigan), sometimes it's because the FBS team overlooks their foe and just under performs (New Hampshire over Ball State). If Rhode Island is in this game past the midway point of Quarter two it will be because UB overlooked them.

This is a little early. You take a season one game at a time. It does not matter if the first game is against a team from an elementary school you do not look at or think about game two until game 1 is over. Training camp has yet to start, The only thing anybody should be thinking about at this time is how to get ready for and beat Rhode Island?

Preseason peices like this are pretty standard fare... By the time the season starts I doubt I will have time...
" Last seasons crushing Injury to James Starks showed us just how useless all this pre season speculation is (for us and our opponent) but looking at, and mocking when we can, our opponents is almost a requirement for sports blogging so take a seat, put up your feet and know your foes!"
They may seem silly, but then agouan so is a 33 year old blogging so cut me some slack ;)

And on top of my "Are YOU Serious?", Bull In Exile does Bull Run because of his interest in UB, and I may not be sure on this one, doesnt get paid for it at all (Im sure if you asked them they wish they did for the amount of work that I assume goes into it). So hes doing it because of his fan hood. Also, Im sure he has a job and a family (and a new house I think I saw) that he has to split time with while trying to do Bull Run. So if he can fit doing these "Know your opponents" into his already busy schedule, then more power to him, just be grateful, and not worry if it fits into YOUR schedule.

I make enough off of add sense to get one beefy three layer burrito at Taco Bell ;) If I get over to SB Nation I will make enough to take the wife and kids to Perkins once a month (oh who am I kidding I am going to blow it on Rivals/ESPN/and Scout memberships)....
I may be spotty late this week and into next because of Family coming into town. My wife tolerates, and even encourages, my blogging outlet as long as it does not interfere with things like out of town guest.

I would defintely recommend getting Scout first, than Rivals, than ESPN. I have had both Scout and Rivals, and for Buffalo, Scout is the best. RIvals is very usefull too though.
