Should I even do these threads anymore ?? :)

The excitement is gone, its sad to see.

The last 8 minutes of the game almost made me feel like the good ole days when we were hitting shots and Mulkey nailing a circus layup. Amazing.

But other than that, same old.

Betts is a monster, with 11/11, Smiley got really hot at the end. I know hes streaky but I dont like when he gets 3 minutes one game, 1 minute next game... its awful. Just let him find what he found tonight late in the game. When hes on, he looks so confident and unstoppable. But so goes the team...

The players may be there, but we'll never find out in the offense they plan in with the coach they have, it is sad to see.

Another frustrating loss, I know they're a "better team" on paper but if we would have made some shots (EVERYTHING HIT THE FRONT OF THE RIM) we would have at least been in that game. ARGH

Quote from: Reggie's Postgame
I think Kent State started the game off with a sense of urgency that we got hit in the mouth with, our guys need to learn from that.

Umm, teach them? How many games are we going to "learn from"?

seriosuly, when do the excuses stop and he just accepts the fact his teams are ill-prepared for the games they're playing?

1. I thought Boudreau and Alston played okay last night.  It's asking a lot for Max to be the only real inside player at his height in a MAC conference game.  I like how he doesn't hesitate so much anymore to take it to the basket.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but at least someone is trying to make a play.  If we can find an actual center he could be a good piece of the puzzle in there.

2. That leads to my second point from yesterday.  Too often you see us in this perimeter offense, one guy inside and the other four just passing it along, waiting for one of them to make a play.  Kent had that defended pretty easily.  You tend to see this from our underclassmen over the years, they hesitate to take any risks and instead just pass it along.  But that makes it easy to defend because you know only one or two guys are actually going to shoot the ball.  We pass it around until the shot clock gets down and take some stupid off balance shot that has no chance.

3. Have they watched tape of the other games (Miami in particular) when they got killed on quick transitions?  No one gets back quick enough and we give up some easy twos.  Ugh.

4. Smiley reminds me of Calvin Cage.  Cage couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat his first two years, but after he got some composure and practice he was deadly from long range.  Too bad Mike Martinho isn't around to impart some wisdom on quick shot release and positioning - that guy had the quickest shot release of any Bull I've ever seen.  Hopefully Sean will become a more consistent player next season.

5. It seems like Robinson makes a lot of mistakes out there, but then ends up as the top scorer when all is said and done.  Gamble still frustrates the hell out of me, he makes a couple good plays and several dumb ones.  Why does it seem like the juniors haven't gotten much better since they started here.

6. The team really needs a center and some consistent outside shooting to compete.  Talented big-men aren't easy to find.  We can't use Yassin as an example because getting him was pure luck.  We can get by in most non-conference games without size inside but it's a fact that catches up to us in a big way in conference play.  Max has been doing okay in there but he can't function as the only inside player.

7. Gone are the times with Battle, Bortz, and company when the team needed some plays at the end and you just knew they'd find a way to pull out a win.  Now we're at the opposite, where they hit a few shots to get back into the contest but you fatefully assume they're going to screw it up when it matters.  I wish I could say that wasn't the case.

Reggies post game interviews frustrate me now.

I keep getting the feeling that he either doesn't like his players or vice versa. I know its an awful thing to say but it seems he always find a way to put down the team. In all fairness is could be Josh's upbeat questioning.

I know I was joking more than anything. Ill continue to make the threads. I trust that Warde will get this program back to at least a competitive team in the coming years, the fans will come back.. the circle of basketball life :0

I will however be out of the country from March 2-12 and just get back in time for the MAC tourney. So during those 10 days youll probably have to start those.

I hve to say the student section was at its smallest last night. The general public isnt as bad as I would have figured. Still the blue section is fairly filled and the oranges still have scattered people. But I cant believe the students dont just go to kill time during the winter.
