Good thing coach Gill doesn't want anything to do with SU (home of the worst city in NY)... BTW, are you trying to criticize us by putting SUNY in front of buffalo every time you type a statement? You do realize it would be much easier to just type UB or Buffalo... And you do realize that "SUNY-BUFFALO" is a better educational institute then SU even with the SUNY in front of our name and the lack of budget from being in a BCS and collecting 50,000 g's a student!

ok i've had enough of just reading these posts. ironfist what do you really have against buffalo? you cleary root for syracuse but is it as enjoyable for you to see us struggle as it is when you watch your teams win? please at least tell me you're an alumni of syracuse. why is it you think you need to put us in our place? is it that important for you to make sure we live in "reality" and not believe that our team could some how some way ever compete with the mighty orange? maybe youre not the way i think you are but based on the posts ive read i just dont see your purpose here. congrats on your basketball team success. please enjoy it because lets face it there is not much else to enjoy about that city. if you dont live there anymore or maybe you have never lived there its a clownshow. the best things you have are SU, that gigantic mall, the pasta warehouse, spaghetti factory , lasagna manufacturing plant or whatever its called, and the freak show known as the state fair. if im way off im my judgment of you i apologize.
moving on.....
i mentioned in one of my first posts that i was a ub athlete and i know what these guys and girls go through. ive been there and been through the hurt and dissapointment and yet each morning i got up before the sun the way my coaches asked me to to practice, to sweat and bleed and work as hard as i could to bring honor and pride to my team, my school and to myself. when that was over i went to class. when class was over many times it meant back to work for my sport and later when that was done it was homework and then bed before you do it all over again. i dont care if you go to texas, ub, syracuse, or erie community college hard work is hard work and these student athletes deserve your respect no matter what the school colors are. it was with great pride that i got to see the colors of my school represented at the rogers center yesterday. seeing the thousands of people excited for the game and wearing blue was a dream come true. i am not embarassed to say that i got close to tears many times because even though i didnt play for the team i felt as though they had finally earned some respect. on behalf of all the former ub athletes i want to say thank you to this team because they have instilled a sense of pride in us all.
finally.....
at one point in the first half there was a bit of a struggle or scrum that took place near the endzone where some pushing and shoving went on. this to me was one of the proudest moments of the game. sound strange? let me explain. at that moment it was as if the players had had enough. it was as if they were saying we will not be your joke anymore. it was as if they were saying i dont care if youre bowling green, akron, penn state , usc, or jamestown high school we will not be bullied or pushed around any more. that of all the attitudes is the one i hope is the one that last. its a pride you have in yourself and your team and your school and thats what i took from that. sure they didnt win but at the end of the game when many people were heading for the exits i stood and applauded my school and its team. this post has gone on long enough. ill stop rambling now.

Great post officerbull...and btw, that large beautiful mall they have, the last time i went there... one entire corridor was completely out of business, so go figure... it fits in well with the rest of that city!

Well said OfficerBull. I remember being proud of the teams when I was in school (1987-1991), but this past Saturday brought me to tears many times (still does as I type this). The fans were awesome. People were just happy to be part of the experience. I know I was. The team did a great job, it was an exciting game.
I can say that even though I live 550 miles away in the DC area I will now plan on attending a game next year, and try and get some of my fellow alumni to join me. I wish I was closer to go to other sports games as well.

and thats what all of this is about. its about it being okay for your number one team to be the university at buffalo bulls....or SUNY UB Bulls if you prefer Ironfist. it used to be and in many cases still is that students and alumni cheer louder and prouder for schools they have no affiliation with. c'mon people THIS is your school!!! this is who taught you and where all your money went. okay so we havent won a bowl game or visited many if any ncaa tourneys in bball. but they are your team. it drove me crazy to see people go to ub games wearing hats and shirts for other schools. i am not saying we are oklahoma or "the u" and maybe we really never will be. but this is your school. getting worked up on this board is dumb bc im kinda preaching to the choir in most cases. thank you to the people who started all of this and to those of you who have gotten involved keep it up. every single thread of school spirit you have helps establish pride for everyone connected with the school.
if i could live closer to buffalo i would but not living in buffalo doesnt keep me from wearing my blue. when people ask me who my favorite college football or basketball team is its simple.... its not kentuckey or syracuse (even though im from central ny) not the irish or the wolverines, its buffalo. sure western ny might be flat and windy and in my years there i was never totally impressed with your pizza but it does have one thing that i will always love and thats the The State University of New York at Buffalo and the Bulls who compete for it.

Mouse Davis was there too.
He is not Mouse Davis. He is Jim McNally.
Mouse Davis was the coach who developed the run and shoot offense at Portland State with Neil Lomax at QB and then with the Houston Gamblers and Jim Kelly. (You remember him, the guy who told the Bills to get lost after they drafted him and never called him back after he came to visit Buffalo right after the draft.)
McNally created NFL Hall of Famers like Anthony Munoz with Bengals and was played by Ron Clinton Smith in

Ironfist went to suny-brockport. Hes from somewhere around there or Rochester. He is here for one reason only...to raise cain and antagonize.
I go to his college hockey forum. Ub is not his only target.

My posts are usually removed within seconds over there. CC's fans can talk all the shaq they want, but when I post my smack, the posts get deleted and I get banned (until I reinstate my account using a proxy server). It has been like this for years. Guess some people cannot handle the truth.
Very rarely do I agree with NU's fans, but I'll make one exception: CC isn't worthy of D-1 status in any sport except lax. Their basketball team is bad even by "Little 4" standards and they have been averaging 700 people per game in both basketball and hockey. Maybe with the help of RIT's fans, Canishaq's average for hockey can get up into the 800s by month's end.

He went to Brockport? That's hysterical. The only people I know that went to Brockport are all crack addicts now.

Why? Why hasn't anyone mentioned the great defensive plays of # 74 (Montanez) ? I've never watched a UB game before but I gotta tell you this kid impressed the heck out of me. For his size he looked strong and fast. He sacked the UConn QB and forced a fumble and he also tackled the UConn "Star" running back which caused him to fumble AND...# 74 recovered it. Why??? doesn't ESPN show those hightlights? Why doesn't anyone talk about those plays that ended up as points for UB?

This is making more and more sense now. Now that these facts have come to light, I think I saw Ironfist on "to catch a predator". He was posing as a Syracuse alumn (which he's not) claiming he was a fit (shaped more like a pear) 31 year old (he's more like 50) and really into the Jonas Brothers (actually he's more into Hannah Montana) and the Tennessee Titans (this part was sad and true). He was talking dirty to an FBI agent who was claiming to be a 12 boy from Thailand who really wanted Gill to leave UB for SU(x). It got steamy and they set up a meet where he was taken into custody. Good episode.
