  1. I don’t post often, but this is a milestone worth acknowledging. With all that is happening in the world, and locally in Buffalo in the midst of Bills hysteria, it’s easy for an accomplishment like this to go relatively unnoticed. A top 25 ranking of any kind was almost unimaginable as recently as a few years ago, to say nothing of when we dropped football 50 years ago. Hopefully, we can continue to raise the bar in all sports and maintain a level representative of UB's standing as a university. That will be a major challenge, of course, but no more so than the challenges faced in getting to this point from our humble beginnings.
  2. Glad someone still remembers me. 😉 Through 10 games we're surrendering an average of 76.7 points. Through 10 last year we were at 65.9. The schedules may not be apples to apples (including Daemen being exhibition this season vs. non-exhibition last year), but that defensive comparison, together with the recent trend, is concerning. I don't expect to match last year's results in almost any category, but I would think that our success needs to start with tough defense, and we're not seeing that right now.
  3. Coach Jack's top assistant apparently moving on. Somewhat behind the scenes, Cherie Cordoba has been a (positive) force and she will be missed. Wishing her all the best. http://www.lsusports.net/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=5200&ATCLID=211803526
  4. Having attending previous high attendance home games like Syracuse, Baylor, Pitt, and so on, I thought that I'd mention that it seemed to me that yesterday's crowd differed from those in a potentially significant way. In previous big games, while people were cheering for UB, I got the feeling that they were there as much to witness "big(ger) time" college football or maybe even to see our opponent. We know that Army has fans everywhere and they were well represented yesterday, but based unscientifically on what I saw of fans wearing UB swag and what I observed of their knowledge of our players, etc. I thought this crowd was there to see UB and were, in fact, Bulls fans. I concur with the sentiments of disappointment about the missed opportunity to potentially grow the local fan base, but I took yesterday as a sign of progress and something to continue to build on.
  5. I'll be doing the Philly->Baltimore Bulls->Bills football road trip weekend.
