I think with all of the talk of Oats rumblings of what power school he could go to next, were just put to rest a bit. Fact is, he’s in the SEC which is arguably the most desirable conference to be in still. Also, Alabama’s recruiting class ranks 6th in 2024 per 24/7 sports. Alabama is all in on Oats and clearly wants to be more than a football school. So, unless Oats fails miserably, he isn’t leaving there anytime soon.

Bama down 22 to Florida in the SEC quarters. Guess it doesn’t matter much as they’ll still get to go dancing most likely
They are gonna be a 4 or 5 seed lol.

So.....yeah.
I think we all know that this season was tough to watch from start to finish. Finishing 4-27 is NOT something we have been accustomed to in a long time. Potentially one of the worst and most unforgettable years of UB men's basketball in recent memory. Certainly in the last 20 years. I believe we all sort of saw the writing on the wall on how bad this season COULD be but didn't know it would be THIS bad.
My thoughts are the obvious, this is a good ol' fashioned program rebuild and we just witnessed rock bottom, literally. The good news is, how much worse could it possibly get? I'm intrigued to see how this off-season unfolds in terms of transfer portal roster moves and coaching staff doing their best to ride with talented young players and develop them, despite that being difficult to do in this era of college basketball. The fact is, this team was so young and inexperienced, with sprinkles of experienced upperclassman. There just was no way that this team was going to be successful. I wouldn't say this offseason is necessarily the most important one, but, we are really going to see what Halcovage and co. are capable of, and what they intend on doing to better the program. I'm fairly optimistic they can do so.
Above all of my rambling, I think this is a necessary thread for all of us fans to sort of come together and discuss this season and to discuss the future.
Now...air your grievances.- 1

Going to be a long long long long season.

I missed the game because of work. Just looking at the few comments and reading the box score, looked like total domination. More contributions from the entire roster. Forced 17 turnovers. Great effort. 2 in the books.
Was never close. At the end Arizona made a little run because game was pretty much out of reach. But when Buffalo actually played defense, we were up by 30+ great win and this game showed us that Jeremy Harris can play still and Blake Hamilton is still very very good at basketball.

Jeremy Harris has come alive with 15 points. Wow. Best he has looked in any of these tournament games.

Seems like every shot is falling for Blue Collar U. I love to see Blake Hamilton playing well. And Jeremy Harris dropping shots too. Playing good defense and great ball movement on offense.

I get it. But these are professional athletes that won $1 million last year. To each their own, but asking for hand outs doesn’t seem to sit right with me.
Public funding and help from boosters goes a long way. If you love watching them in this tournament and you’re able to donate, then donate. Funding and boosters are what helps them appear in these tournaments.

Unreal comeback wow, Perkins clutch shot after a miserable shooting performance. Wow.
-
I said it last year but holy crap Jeremy Harris provides nothing for this tournament. It’s sad.

They are all just out of sorts. They don’t look very prepared for this. Just one of those “it is what it is” games. Unless Wes or CJ or Nick can’t get going late in the 3rd or early 4th, games over and none with.

Former top 100 recruit is always nice to add
Why a third transfer? Is he eligible right away? Assuming Maryland was due to coaching change
If I read the rules correct, he may have to sit out.

This is a very very encouraging transfer. It’s a new beginning for him. We are still so wide open at guard that who knows if he sees major starting minutes or plays a role off of the bench. Either way, seeing a top 100 player commit to us is so cool. He’s up there with Wes Clark as highest ranked players to play for us. I’m excited.

People complaining about no NIL collective. Get together in a room, discuss what needs to be done, get it started, open up your pockets. Get alumni and boosters on board. Otherwise, complaining on a forum about the lack of NIL funds will stay the same.

Just following up on this player. Not a lot of rumblings on Jordan. Anyone know what’s going on with him. Any offers recently?
But I just peeped his stats from Three Rivers this season. Looks like a very raw shooter but has a lot of potential. Is in the top 50 JUCO freshman list. Long guard/wing type of play might be nice to have. I wonder if there is any interest in this player still with the new coaching staff, and wonder if Jordan still has interest?
What do we think?

I didn't see any mention of visit other than UB on his Twitter. Does anyone have any info on that? Or is a lack of visit mention a good sign for a commit today?
It’s looking like he’s committing here. All signs are pointing that way. Guard on this team is so wide open that I think it could be more enticing as well.

Much needed depth for guard, need more!

Grass ain’t always greener.
It usually never is when these kids move up. Ride the bench or they start and their performance on the court is diminished. Though can’t blame them for doing it, but it often hurts them more than not.

Let’s turn jack into our Hunter Dickinson. Jack played really well as a true freshman, just needs to get a bit better defensively which comes with time for young centers.
Been saying it, Jack is exactly what we thought Brock Bertram would be. He was way ahead of schedule during his freshman year, and will only get better.

This is a really good get for us. We have sort of suffered with mediocrity the last 4 years. Not saying it’s going to work out, but this has definitely perked me up, and I imagine everyone else has too. If he’s successful here, let’s enjoy it while we can for as long as he is here.

Hodgson literally coaches the #1 team in the country.
He should be the top of the list with Cohen.
Hodgson makes so much sense. But is he at the point where he could surpass a mid major school? Assistant at 2 successful programs, fantastic recruiter, I think he has a résumé to interview at an even better program and get the job.

It was time. It’s sad. Whitesell was a good recruiter. He had the talent. In the end he just couldn’t get the most out of his players.

I know it’s a rough time to be a UB basketball fan right now, but holy fuck what a PR nightmare its all turning out to be for Alabama and Nate Oats.

I think the talk of what blue blood is gonna poach Nate Oats is going to be put to rest. Alabama is gonna do whatever it takes to keep him around.
