Great to see Coach Burke and staff seen they needed to add some size in the frontcourt to content with the other top teams with their size and athleticism. Really believe we have to have a more balanced offensive game where we can have good offensive flow down low and can rebound on both ends. Go Bulls!!!

Agree. With his contract extension and Saban sort of out of the picture if Nate can continue to be successful and recruit and hit on the players he recruits and be in the top SEC I wonder what it would take for him to leave??? Watching the game Nelson was the game changer and that is what it takes to win the game. Watching many Alabama games this year he was not a factor in many of them. At this level all it takes is one game to shoot lights out and you win. NC hitting 10 3’s in the first half and 3 in the second half?? The sports guys were talking about the Clemson defense against Arizona and it was good but Arizona could not hit 3’s like they do and many of those 3’s were wide open. A combination of good defense and a team having an off night make all the difference. An exciting time of the year!!!

The transfer portal is a big question. Is the transfer portal going to go back to a one time transfer that a player has to sit out or is the NCAA and the legal side still up in the air? Are we going to continue to see players moving from team to team from one year to the next or will a player decide to stay at one college because he is getting paid thousands and millions of dollars? The college experience seems like it will never have the same mystique and maybe a college doesn’t have to offer scholarships in lieu of a player getting millions in NIL money.

I read that the WBIT semis and finals are at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Where are the semis and finals for the WNIT being held?

Early scouting report. Monmouth. Very senior laden team with top 7/8 players all seniors. Decent size in frontcourt which can give us trouble. Only average around 64 per game and give up around 58 per game. Finished second in the CAA with 21-9 and 14-4 record but upset by Drexel in the conference tournament. Looking forward to seeing another game and hope there will be a good turnout. Go Bulls!!!

Don’t know all the ins and outs but do these teams have to put up money to get home games including the tams with byes??

So maybe all these P5 power conferences will finally form their own conference with just the big boys and their millions of dollars. So if it really means nothing none of them should play or be invited if they think that is beneath them. With the transfer portal and NIL in total chaos who knows what the college landscape will look like in the next few year. I heard that the football transfer portal just opened today and after the first few hours there were close to 300 already in the portal. Just crazy and I think all this money that these kids will be making I wonder if they know that will be all taxable income!!! Crazy that a college education seems to be an afterthought. I wonder if many of these colleges will cut back on scholarships since these kids can be on their own when it comes to getting NIL dollars.

Thanks for the information. After I asked about the other tournaments I see another fan gave information and I missed that. Both of these tournaments have a good mix of teams from different conferences so will nice to see how these teams stack up. Still nice to be able to see some more basketball for a few more weeks. I just pulled up the other tournaments that will be played. I seen the WNIT with UB and Bowling Green in the field and I think the seedlings will be out today. I was wondering about Ball State and Toledo not in this tournament and pulled up another tournament the WBIT that they are in with games at the higher seeded team and the semis and finals at Hinkel Fieldhouse. Where is the WNIT finals being held?? Will be interesting to see how our four MAC teams do and will be following. In comparison which one of these tournaments has a higher prestige for these teams?? I saw that both UB and Bowling Green are at large teams so wondering if that means they can possibly have a home game. Go Bulls!!!

Do agree. Was a first half where we played tough defense on their bigs and they did not shoot the ball well and we missed many shots down low especially from KLW. She looked very nervous and out of sorts and 2nd half it looked like we ran out of gas especially with Rana very sluggish. This team never gave up and only a bight future for this team and coaching staff if they can land some more bigs down low. Looking forward to next year and Go Bulls!!!!

Agree!! Just an incredible win and team effort with very good games from Johnson, Ogden, Lopez and of course from our top players. The only negative is UB not being able to handle a full court press. Watching so much basketball all my life we have seen teams be able to handle a press. How much the coaches can teach these players will be very important for this year and the next. How much Rana can be a factor with her religious beliefs could spell the difference in tomorrow’s game. Again congrats to the entire team and Go Bulls!!!

Do agree. We made the plays in the last couple minutes and BG rebounding advantage was offset by our 48% from the field and 44% from 3 point line and the free throw difference for us. Just a gritty win and now to see how we can compete against a very good Toledo team. Congrats to the entire team for a great win especially when you can beat a team three times. Go Bulls!!!

I along with our family and many fans do totally agree. We went from Hurley to Oats who was a high school coach and learned from Hurley and we could of kept all that momentum going with another up and comer coach in Hodgson who as the successful years came began more outspoken and comfortable on the sidelines not withstanding he had a successful recruiting record and was well known in recruiting circles. Again a local guy who we talked to many times who seemed to be engaged and genuine with fans. Whitesell was a good assistant coach and a really nice guy and now he is a happy camper at Albany in the slot that is good for him. Again with the culture and chaos now in college basketball the power conferences will continue to succeed with their millions of dollars and who knows where the mid majors will end up.

I wonder if we had another AD or if Alnutt would admit his mistake and swallow his pride would he offer the head coach job to Hodgson???? I am sure he never listened to fans who wanted Hodgson. To dream the impossible dream!!

It will be discussed for years on Hodgson not being hired as our next head coach. He was a coach on our great teams, was a local guy who was popular with many, was involved in the community and who knows who he could have kept on the roster and recruited. He recruited many of the juco’s and some transfers and was known in the recruiting cycles. All because Alnutt thought he knew better and was just riding the success of others. Sad what has become once a winning atmosphere and culture.

Senior day for Rana and Johnson. Does that mean Watson has another year in the transfer portal?? It looked like we were totally unprepared for the Ball State press and never figured it out. They spend us up and when we did get the ball over half court Ball State defensively put their three frontcourt players across the freee throw line and Watson had no place to go. UB panicked with their passes and most of their shots were all rushed. Ball State has a nice inside/outside game and used both against us. I don’t recall Ball State using a press in many games. Do not know if this is going to be a learning experience for us as it is very hard to practice against it with the players we have. No hand shake between Burke and the Ball state coach and she never even looked his way as there appears to be still bad blood between them from last years game.

It looked like he said something to the one ref and then walking away said something else. As bad as the overall game was from two bad teams the refs ere even worse. I would have liked Coach H to get in the face of the ref who called the T’s but he looks like he sleepwalks through games. Again this could be his personality but that reflects down to how your players act and respond on the court. Looking back on some of our worst teams over all these years this team ranks as one if not the worst teams. I will be very surprised if Bolton Jr. returns when I seen his father at many games and he did not look very happy. I am sure he will have talks with his son and get out of here as quickly as possible. He was never utilized here and he was one player who showed some athletic ability and quickness and another failure on this coaching staff. The one positive is the women’s team who have some freshmen who have improved and with some promising recruits coming in next year.

Among many other comments from me and others still perplexed on how Coach H used Wilson for the last number of games. Early in the game he was getting some minutes on both ends of the floor and then in the 2nd half later in the game he continually substituted him taking him out on the offense end and putting him in on the defensive end. I think he did show some potential as the season went on but he needed to play on both ends to help with his confidence and becoming a little more comfortable. Another instance when Coach H tries to over coach and make the game more complicated than it is. Maybe that is how they played at Villinova with many more good players. Another loss setting or tying some of our worst records in the 90’s and early 2000’s. Wonder if this coaching staff will be able to find any decent recruits, transfers or juco’s who would want to come here and can this coaching staff coach them into becoming good team players. Not sure how many season ticket holders or average fans will continue to support a team like this. Crazy how many open seats in the 114 and other sections have become more and more as each game went on. Time will tell on if there will be any glimpse of hope for next year. Would be nice if Alnutt reduced the ticket prices for next year!!! Just joking I think.

Did not look like Chatman wanted to play as he had no energy and was barely moving and Adam’s was pretty close to the same. UB had no one that could guard Coit. Was very strange that UB started out the game in a zone defense which was terrible and understand that they could not guard any of the NIU players who were quicker and more athletic.. When you don’t barely play a zone all year and to go to a zone makes no sense at all. Another game like so many this year where they got within 5 points and turned the ball over and had bad offensive plays on several possessions. Hope springs eternal and hope we hear some positive news with this program.

We observed the same thing. This team offensively is the Chatman and Adam’s show and we can debate it is because of the inexperience or lack of talent of the other players. One game we see Williamson down low and with good ball movement and the next him just standing out in the wing and not getting the ball. It is hard to believe this coaching staff is telling Chatman and Adam’s when you are double/triple teamed don’t look for open players. Adam’s has had many games with 7+ turnovers himself. A product of so many teams in college with not enough good players or coaches that find a way to lose games. Hope to see a competitive last game and see some exciting plays from both teams and a win to end the year. Go Bulls!!!

The last 2 minutes or so were a little crazy and disjointed. Coach Burke replaced most of the starters with like a 19 point lead and instead of just running out the clock many of the players were dribbling and driving and taking shots with a lot of time on the shot clock and CMU scored a bunch of points from the line and field. Just a really strange last few minutes and Coach Burke letting the players play that type of ball. Not a lot of fouls called during the game but in the 4th quarter the officials decided to call a crazy number of fouls on UB. Again looking forward to the game against Ball State who have a great season and see how we stack up against them and of course their coach who is always in the face of the officials the entire game and the officials let him get away with it. Go Bulls!!

Good solid win against a CMU team with a big front line that during the early part of the game gave us trouble on both ends of the floor. We came out in the 3rd quarter with more pressure on the bigs down low and pressured the 3 point line. Have been impressed with our freshmen and this coaching staff seems to be in working together and communicating with the players. Am impressed with the three recruits signed by Burke in Barr-Budday from Nichols, Rowe from Rochester and Daly from Pittsburgh who have had very good careers in high school. Looking forward to the game against Ball State on Saturday and the senior day celebration. Go Bulls!!!

I must of missed the two high school commits so thanks for the information. I do agree that we will have to wait and see if this staff can recruit any quality transfer or juco’s and also see if their coaching philosophy will change. Some of us believe this is worst than some of the Reggie years. With spring and summer optimism and some positive vibes would be very welcome.
