  1. Concern is there doe not seem to be any team chemistry. Bolton Jr. Seems to have a ton on potential but barely sees the ball in any offensive sets. It is just Chatman and Isaiah hogging the ball and not even looking for other players. Graham seems to have potential but is so new to the team he barely knows where to be on the court. The fact that Smith did not even get off the bench is perplexing as he looked like he was healthy and had his warm up jersey off until he probably realized he was not going to play. I do wonder what this coaching staff is drawing up at timeouts and they come out with no offensive flow. Every game should have a big time promotion for every game because they will lose most of the hardcore fans with this team. A decent crowd with their promotion but with nothing to cheer about.
  2. Do agree. Concern about Davis being bad on the free throw line and we know MAC teams will be scouting that. She needs to be in the gym with coaches shooting until their is improvement. Do agree both Raina and Ogden have to be able to score and take some of the pressure off Watson and Kewis-Williams. I am sure everyone noticed that one of the coaches took Ogden down to the other end of the court and just had her shoot jump shots until Eastern Shore came out. Concern is we have no down low presence other than Davis and she has to know when to back off defensively when she has 3 fouls. To Eastern Shores credit they did have two bigs both 6’2’ that other than Davis were badly out rebounded. A little interesting that Lopez barely played especially when Rana had a bad all around game. Will be interesting to see how we can contend in the MAC with better players and with the physical style. Looking forward to Wednesday. Go Bulls!!
  3. Agree once again. One other mention that as we were watching the game they were being out hustled really the whole game which should not happen after the last two games and being at home.
  4. Agree with most points. My concern is Ogden being in a total funk the last three games and against Lemoyne looked like she did not want to be on the floor. Their depth inside when Ogden is a non factor is bad. After Davis they have nothing. Graig and Johnson are playing like it is a football game and the Swede has no quickness so they will be killed on the boards in the MAC. Burke does not seem to help when she just starts yelling at the players instead of coming up with plays and strategies to help this team. Again we will soon find out when MAC play starts as all the teams will devise ways to stop Watson from driving to the basket.
  5. I think he should play this year and let the chips fall wherever. We need to field a more competitive team this year so we don’t lose more fans and especially more season ticket holders who are leaving and not showing up for games as evidenced by many empty seats.
  6. What will we see after the Stonybrook debacle?? Drexel is another team with decent size with three players averaging 14 to 10 a game. Seems like they are more of a defensive/rebounding team and only averaging 59 a game and giving up 50 per game. Should be a better matchup for us but that is why they have to play the game. Hope the coaching staff had a lot of teachable moments form the last game. Go Bulls!!!
  7. Thanks I meant Ojala. I remember Brown and she was way more athletic and strong on the boards but no problem with having different perspectives on players. Time will tell if this coaching staff can work with Ojala and she can improve her strength and ability around the rim.
  8. Do agree. We have no true center/power forward on this team. Johnson and Craig are way over weight with no quickness or jumping ability. Davis does show a lot of potential with her size and quickness but is only a freshman. Ogden does show positives both inside and out but is only one player. One other player is Oakland a foreign player with size but very thin who will not be able to bang with the other players in the MAC. Will be interesting to see how this coaching staff can navigate with this roster.
  9. Adams was out on the court after the game shooting. Did not seem to be laboring but not really jumping out of his socks when shooting. So maybe a good sign but before the injury his shooting was terrible. Another body in the rotation can help I hope.
  10. Do agree. The main 8 players are averaging between 8-15 points with an experienced roster made up of seniors and graduates from the transfer portal. They have above average size with their top two players 6’2’ and other close to 6’. They average 75 points and give up 60 per game. Will be interesting to see how Davis and Ogden can compete on the boards against this team. Hope both the men and women show continued improvement. Go Bulls!!!
  11. A very good comprehensive analysis. There is more to the Becky Burke comments than you stated but my opinion is what she did with a depleted roster and all the other things going on in the first year was exceptional. Last year’s coaching staff really did not mesh at all and with the transfer portal madness some of the accountability has to be with the players. This present coaching staff seems to be meshing really well together with input from the entire staff. Burke has seemed to of toned down a bit and with a year here seems more comfortable. A toxic environment can be seen all over basketball! How about Oats staff all leaving and some of his players transferring just to name one team. Enjoying watching this team and coaching staff evolve and see some exciting basketball. Probably should of put these comments in another forum as I really didn’t want to take away from the Alnutt comments. Go Bulls!!!
  12. Rana has improved dramatically since her first game against Daemen.Overall good ball handling and also shot selection with hitting some 3’s the last two games which should help in the MAC games. Lopez looks to have improved also the only concern is she plays with too much intensity on defense and gets called for a lot of fouls. Again that can be a concern in the MAC when the overall intensity picks up and the refs call a tighter game. Overall just a pleasant surprise to see how the team has jelled especially with the freshmen like Lewis-Williams and Davis along with our other starters. Watson looks like the real deal with her driving ability and floaters in the lane and also shows that she can hit on three pointers. A nice little stretch of games coming up against some better competition in the NEC and MEAC before MAC play begins. Go Bulls!!!
  13. Agree. Very strange message and without trying to figure what is going on I guess it is up to Cage and the rest of the coaching staff to try and get these players mindset and attitude to change for the better. Is this just a group of players who don’t mesh together with minimal talent like many of our past teams over the years. We will find out very soon.
  14. Do agree. Bona came out and shot lights out and impressed with the team not getting flustered. The 2nd half UB showed more defensive pressure and intensity and both Rana and Ogden got into the offensive flow. Watson and the freshman Lewis-Williams continue to impress. A slight concern in after the top five we do not show much depth and players that can help if our top five have off nights or get in foul trouble. Overall impressed with the team and coaches who communicate with players during the game and especially after halftime. Hope more fans come out to see this team with their positive energy. Go Bulls!!!!
  15. Maybe Bona wants to get back to Olean before Thanksgiving!! We have taken the trip to some Bona games and it is not the easiest trip at night if there is rain, snow or fog.
  16. Fans watching the game how was the bench and coaching staff as far as communication and energy?? A couple of concerns are Adams shooting 2-10 and 2-11 the last two games and Jones status. He had a decent first half against Roberts Wesalyn but did not play in the 2nd half. Played only 9 minutes against Hofstra and not at all against Louisiana. Even the earlier games that he played he appeared moody and not very happy. Not sure if anyone on the coaching staff can change his attitude with some positive energy. Was their better ball movement and some semblance of team ball on both ends??
  17. Do agree. Haskell is their main scorer so defensive pressure on her will be important. Bona seems to have a decent rebounding team with most of their frontline 5’10-6’ so rebounding could be another key. Looking forward to seeing Crowley again. Go Bulls!!!
  18. In college basketball one game from the next can be totally different based on the team you are playing. Also Niagara played without both Parker sisters out with injury and illness so based on that Niagara was probably lucky to win the game.
  19. It was totally different game against Niagara who pressed full court and Watson with her quickness got into the half court with some open lanes. Total different defensive setup with Stonehill and she tried to drive with defenders around her. Hope the coaching staff can show from the film on how to move the ball in the half court. With the game really never in doubt Ogden was on the bench for long stretches and would of liked to see a few more of the bench players get some playing time. Up to this point it looks like the top eight players are set. Like the play of Davis who seems to have the rebounding IQ. She had many shots around the basket which missed but with only a freshman should develop into a top player.
  20. Do agree. It was hard to watch. UB’s defense was good but Stonehill was getting shots but just could not make them. Do agree UB has to work on their half court offense. Watson was forcing many of her drives to the basket when the defense was waiting for her. There were many missed shots near the basket by several players. We do know the MAC teams will watch film on our games and try to double and take Watson out of her comfort zone. The key is how both the coaching staff and players can adjust once in MAC play.
  21. I agree. I am not talking about local college tickets. We have been season ticket holders at UB for 15 plus years and have attended some of the other local teams over the years. When Niagara,Bona and Canisius had their really exciting years we went to several of their games also.
  22. We do not very often but for 15 plus years we did as a family. It really doesn’t matter what it costs in other cities because we live here. No knot of how anybody spends their income but we look at our discretionary income spent on the overall cost and the entertainment value and money allocated to family needs. But again different strokes for different folks.
  23. Whether you beat a team by 30 or win a close game it comes down to how the players play as a team or play one on one type ball which is really what we have been seeing since the start of the year.
  24. It is funny or not so funny you brought up Marbach because our family talked about that. Marbach got all the accolades from his Villanova coaches and others and he was terrible as a head coach. Let’s face it some coaches are meant to be just assistants and don’t have the pedigree to be a head coach. We can only hope their is some change in his approach and the players buy in to his coaching.
  25. Wow!! So many of the comments are right on.Defense lacking and I am sure anyone who seen the game noticed we came out trying to press them and even tried playing a zone that looked very unorganized so back to man to man which did not look any better. Adams had another very sloppy game and I don’t even know how we would look without Chatman. At times it looked more like a football game with the physicality. Does anyone know why Jones played very little in the 2nd half as he looked decent in the first half. If we can’t handle the press from a D2 team we are in big trouble in the MAC. Their trip to Florida for three games should tell a lot if this coaching staff and players can figure out to play some kind of team ball.
