  1. I heard some of the podcast.  All i can say is that Pete Lembo sure has a lot of connections around college football and stories.  The guy seems like he's super organized and has a plan for the program and structure.  Hopefully it all adds up to a watchable product on the field and wins.

  2. Alnutt takes criticism which he should.  But he’s not a complete idiot. That product Mo put on the field last season had to embarrass the heck out of the AD.  Those last 4 games on the ESPN networks were low FCS quality football at best. maybe even worse.  I think this is a good choice to get the program in the right direction.

  3. Checks some of the boxes I was looking for. I’m trying to be positive.  The last guy was a clown show.  At least Lembo has been there and done it before.  Seems like a safe choice, but that’s kind of what UB needs at this time.  Get the program back on track.

  4. One characteristic I'd like to see from the next coach is to be a straight shooter, and be honest and transparent when he speaks....and not full of cliches' and coach speak.

I've never heard another coach talk and say absolutely nothing as much as Mo did.

  5. See ya Mo,  don’t let the door hit ya.

I agree with the FCS route or the Lance method.  This football team really needs a coach to come in whose been a successful head coach at a program somewhere else.  Someone who isn’t learning on the job and understands how to lead young men and recruiting/staffing, etc.  Obviously the transfer portal is big too so an understanding of that whole process.

Utah State is not some great offer. Remember Shaun Dolac is leaving UB Bulls in Buffalo a NFL city for a school that is number three in their own state of Utah behind BYU and Utah. Shaun Dolac overestimated his value in the transfer portal he should have went back to UB Bulls so he doesn’t lose time on school toward graduation. Utah State isn’t worth having to take more classes to graduate at Utah State in my opinion. UB Horns Up! Go Bulls! Let’s Go Buffalo

Let's face it, Shaun Dolac would counter that by saying the UB football program finished ranked behind the State of Utah's 4th team (Weber State) in the overall college rankings.  And that's sad because they are FCS....and Weber State has a track around their field too, lol.

  7. I don’t know much, but i do know the Hurley/Oats era was an amazing time.

It took a few years for the AD to tear it all down and make MBB one of the worst of 360 programs. So that took some doing. Hopefully other MAC teams are weak and they can get immediate help from the portal after this season.

  8. I’ve held off on commenting about men’s hoops because i feel the new coach needed a fair chance to get this club to jell or whatever. But losing to a lousy Niagara team at home, even after being up by 10 at the half?!?  nah, this has to change. Either this coach is terrible or they recruited terrible players…which is still on the coach.  The AD needs to answer to this too. UB men’s basketball was the one shining star of athletics and they are literally worst in the country at their level.

  9. South Dakota St. could easily be FBS and probably have played in Bowl games the past several years. Talented team with excellent skill players.  Just like JMU could have over the years and several other quality FCS teams.

Cortland and Ithaca have a 90+ year rivalry and annually have the Cortaca Jug game, which is a big draw:

Unfortunately all of UB's Little Three rivals took a hint and realized football wasn't sustainable, so a similar local game isn't likely

I went to IC back in the day and the Cortaca jug is definitely a great rivalry.  I went a few years ago when they had it at MetLife Stadium and 45,000 were there..

Ithaca is the last NY State team to win the Championship in 1991,, (two others in 1988, 1979).

College football now has 40% roster turnover a year, between the seniors and transfers.  Hard to image that doesn't impact the quality of the product on the field.

This is just what the coaches deal with now until someone finds a way to slow down the portal entries.

I saw one interview with a P5 coach and he said they prefer being a players 2nd or even 3rd team.  They don't even want to be the 1st team anymore, because they want experience and not having to develop every guy on the team.
