  1. Think @Kevin mentioned something about contract length playing a role. Sorry for the confusion
  2. Wonder if they could be like “hey I know you don’t like the length of contract, but you can earn an extension if you/team perform well”. If it is due to NIL or lack of resources there’s not much you could say to that other than being optimistic that those resources will be available in the near future
  3. I’m still optimistic but disappointed. There’s ton of great talent out there and young coaches looking for opportunities. Just hate that this has to drag out for longer than normal
  4. Jack had great skill coming in as just a true freshman. His defense will get better with time if he decides to stay. He already proved that he can be effective offensively. Centers and PF’s are a lot like hockey goalies, takes time to develop at a higher level most of the time
  5. Not a fan of him being a candidate. Has a .500 record with the penguins. Seems like a last straw type candidate.
  6. So I did some snooping, Tom Fox and a person with the last name Fitzpatrick (video coordinator) are following Adam Cohen now. As well as Blocker and Kanye Jones
  7. I’m guessing it’s McCollum, based off our staff following him right after his interview. What could delay this is the fact he’s residing in Missouri, has a wife and a few children who seem to be fairly young. He’s gonna have to buy a new home, find a school/schools for his kids. Not easy just to pack up and leave. Especially since he’s been in Missouri for a while
  8. Still waiting on an announcement. Have to think we are waiting on Cohen at this point. Possibly want to have a in person interview? Or we are still interviewing candidates as we speak. Wish we would have a answer sooner than later
  9. I’m fairly certain he would be able too. Most head coaches don’t do lead recruiting. They are just the ones who give a sales pitch or act as a closer. He’d need to hire someone with experience for that role. From what I hear he and his staff were incredibly efficient at recruiting at the d2 level. Would sometimes get commits from guys with d1 offers. Now at the mid major level it’s all about playing time, team scheme and the school itself. If you play an attractive style of ball, offer recruits/transfers the ability to showcase their talent and lastly have resources for them to succeed. You can build a pretty strong recruiting class
  10. When did we hear about linguist? He was hired the same day of his interview if I’m not mistaken
  11. I read this as someone was trying to ignore me. I was thinking dang? Am I really that annoying 😂
  12. The new coach can’t be worse than the Sabres… right?!?!
  13. I’m confident but also terrified of the situation. We better have someone signed by now. Teams are filling vacancies all around us. My fear is that we don’t have one signed and the coach we are looking for ends up staying with their current team or goes to a larger school. Then we would have to scramble and possibly hire a weak candidate. Other mid majors have also started signing transfers. We currently have no transfers or HS players committed. We need to get this done ASAP but also need to hire someone whos a strong candidate
  14. I also noticed Foley dropped the “former” on his twitter bio. Wonder if the new coach liked his JUCO pipeline
  15. Looks like we will also need assistant’s. in the recruiting board a member posted that Quarles twitter says “former buffalo assistant”. Foleys also says the same thing. So alnutt is all in in changing everything
  16. Heyyy @Kevin got any more ahhh… sources
  17. I dont really believe that we would be settling for Washington. He’s got a really great track record. He’s an incredible recruiter, had great team success at Michigan and is heavily involved in elevating the position of black coaches in basketball (much like Quarles). I’m more of a fan of Cohen due to the fact that he’s from WNY and could have his team more heavily involved in the community. Both are pretty good choices for the HC gig
  18. Washington is probably the best available who’s not in the tournament. Cohen is still in with Xavier but there’s some down time before the sweet 16 starts. I’ve been hounding the Coaching Changes twitter and all signs point to the two of them being the top candidates interested. Hodgson seems like a dark horse at the moment. However, he is receiving a ton of pushback from Ark State fans due to the situation at Bama. Things could possibly cool down there unless he’s already verbally agreed or signed pen to paper. If it’s going to be Washington I’d expect today or tomorrow to hear. Cohen on the other hand could be a longer more drawn out wait. Cohen could even have said yes to the gig but it could be under wraps until Xavier wins/gets knocked out of the tournament
  19. I CANT TAKE THE ANTICIPATION ANYMORE 😂😂 can one of these guys give an interview like Linguist and be hired right then and there lol. All three are great choices
  20. Always love March madness and tonight I get to watch two old friends of mine play, Jalen Pickett and Don Carey. Both played for Siena when I was a student there. Jalen and I became good friends at orientation and he lived in the room right next to me our freshman year. Hopefully he becomes a lottery pick this year. Don Carey and I had a class together and he would play pickup with my friends and I when he was available. Both are great guys and it’s awesome to see them play well for their respective teams
  21. Hopefully #1 with Washington being a solid 2nd choice.
  22. Does anyone know how CSA works? Or the agency UB is using to find a new coach. Do they just put out feelers to certain people?
  23. Seems like a pretty darn good recruiter, I know it’s Michigan but those names are impressive. I don’t expect us to grab any 4-5 stars but… Washington will have to have some great recruiting ties
  24. Im feeling the same way, we just haven’t had it publicly announced yet. Especially with Hodgson or Cohen. Imagine being a player in the tournament, getting ready for some of the biggest games of your life and hearing that the coach who brought you to the program is going to leave once the season ends. Teams and players don’t want the distraction. Yes, it happens that coaches announce their decisions during the season but just look at the state of Bama and Xavier. Bama is a championship contender and Xavier is a 3 seed trying to make a run. I could be 💯 wrong on my take but that’s what I think
