  1. The money for me wining and dining others comes from my hard work. I have not made one comment on here about the continuation of Mark Alnutt as AD. Nor have I commented on whether any coach should keep their job. It is not that I am indebted to any of them for anything. It is out of respect for them as people who have families and the relationships that I have because I have met and know them. I have never asked for the Athletic Department to hire or fire any coach or administrator. That is not my role. I am a donor and have been one for over 40 years and hopefully will be for another 40 years. What I get is what any donor can get. Jealous? Then go https://ubbulls.com/sports/blue-white-fund and donate. Now please go back to your Rapids thread, I think they just got a turnover and are on a fast break for a layup that you have yet to post about.
  2. The decision has nothing to do with professional or amateur status of the students. It just makes them employees. That creates many issues outside of the right to be in a union. UB Law School is working on a blog post on the decision. Should be up by next week at the latest.
  3. The NCAA does not pay for the luncheon. It is paid for by the sponsors of the game. Private equity in college athletics will be the end of college athletics except for possibly a dozen schools. The rest all lose money, which private equity does not like.
  4. I do not remember. Total cost to UB for me at the Dollar General Bowl, $0.00. I paid for my airfare, rental car and hotel. Same in Toronto, Boise, the Bahamas and Montgomery.
  5. It is sort of buried in the anti-trust exemption given to the NFL to allow its television deals. The NFL cannot play on Fridays or Saturdays until after, what is now the Army-Navy game. It was put into the law to protect college and high school football from being destroyed by the NFL on television in the late 1960s. The new NFL Black Friday game is played right on the edge of the protected time slots for college and high school time slots.
  6. I believe it has to do with television. College games are to be played on Saturday, unless "moved" for television.
  7. The Pegula donation to start hockey at Penn State was $88,000,000.00. That was 14 years ago. I do not know how much the Murchie family is worth, but that may be beyond their ability.
  8. In a case involving Dartmouth the NLRB said yes. The decision does not impact UB, as UB is not subject to the National Labor Relations Act. https://apps.nlrb.gov/link/document.aspx/09031d4583c5ebe4
  9. Would you hire back a person to your company who when they left, while still your employee, was seen promoting a competitor? That is what Hogdson did. I would not rehire that person.
  10. Hockey was looked into years ago. It was too expensive and there would need to be either the addition of women's sport(s) or dropping of existing men's sport(s). The cost has not gone down since the last time it was looked at.
  11. That will really help get the students come to games, moving them downtown. Why not just reinstall the six or seven rows roll up bleachers in Clark Hall and play there again. It would make it easier for the public to go to games, as there are many people who live walking distance from the Main Street Campus.
  12. There have been coaches with higher base wages than Tripathi.
  13. Every team, including football has been doing this for about five years. It is also becoming standard at many athletic departments across the country. I made my donation already as well. If you are going to make a donation please see if you can add $0.47 to it to honor Watson's school record 47 point game last Saturday.
  14. I hope they do nothing. The government should stay out of operations of the public universities unless there is a need to control a major scandal. Chris Christie got involved in the athletic department at Rutgers and messed it up by putting political flunkies in high positions.
  15. I was not hyping anything, as I had no information on who is being or when someone is about to be hired. (Nor do I have any information before anybody is being fired or resigning.) It was the last major assistant job still open.
  16. He worked with Lew Carella who was at UB before Georgia Tech. Carella did a great job for UB.
  17. A number of announcements for the staff yesterday, including a defensive coordinator, from Miami Redhawks (he and Coach Lembo were at South Carolina together). Coach Lembo kept the OL, TE and DB coaches as well as the recent hires of the OC and RB coaches. https://ubbulls.com/news/2024/1/28/football-lembo-hires-bowen-as-defensive-coordinator-makes-other-staff-appointments.aspx The most important hire still to come is strength and conditioning coach. They can make a huge difference.
  18. The record was 44 by Mike Martinho. This is overall school record.
  19. Who care? Isn't there an eXtreme board where you can post this stuff?
  20. Thankful to live in New York City, where the only people who go to chain Italian restaurants are tourists in Times Square. The rest of use the great selection in all parts of the city.
  21. Maybe we could use AI and make us go undefeated.
  22. They were at South Carolina together.
  23. Does he last three years before UB Horns Up is calling for him to be fired?
  24. The coach is already reaching out to football alumni. He held a zoom session yesterday with alumni from the Dando era right up to the present participating.
  25. Also the Ball State game was football season ticket holder appreciation day.
