BasketBull
That game reminded me a lot of UB’s round of 32 game vs Kentucky. Ohio played well in the first half more or less matching Kentucky blow for blow but Kentucky just consistently scored and overwhelmed them in the second half.

Have they now relinquished the team to beat label they held in the first half? Doesn't seem they have much depth either...imagine that. I’m sure there’s some on their board who are upset with their 2nd half performance and that’s fine if they are. It’s an expectations game. Ohio is very good but lost Jason Preston to the NBA and Dwight Wilson is out with an ACL injury. Bobcats opened the season around 100 in most metrics and have gotten off to a good start. An 18 point loss to #13 Kentucky after trailing by two at halftime isn’t a disappointment for the majority of their fans based on where their expectations are. UB however returned their big 3 and was trailing by 20 in the first half at #6 Michigan before fighting back. The Bulls are projected as high as 60th. That disparity in expectations is why people have different reactions. It’s like in car sales, you never want to oversell, underdeliver. Ohio does have some depth. Not a ton but they normally go four deep on their bench. Just because their role guys didn’t perform well tonight doesn’t mean they lack them. Ben Roderick and Lunden McDay are their 4/5 scorers and both averaged over 10 ppg last year. They just don’t have quite the depth they should with Wilson injured. That said, they have a 6-8, 3-star recruit freshman, AJ Clayton hitting 3’s for them early in the season at Kentucky, proving you can play freshmen in important non-conference road games. Kentucky out-rebounded Ohio 53-17. Once Bobcats went cold, it got ugly fast. Edited November 20, 2021 by Big 4 Hoops Blogger

Eventually Kentucky’s length and athleticism took over the game. Ohio has no depth something to pay attention to. We don’t wanna gas our players too early in the season. UC Irvine has moved up quite a bit in composite ranking, now 74. If that holds, should be a even more challenging home game than initially thought. UBinMD
Since Colgate hung 100 and a home L on Syracuse, is Boeheim going to cut them off like he did Buffalo? Any word if Colgate was too aggressive or said mean things to the Orange? 6

Going to be some battles this winter and whoever ends up winning it will be a nightmare for a 4-5 seed.
clodney
Wow, talk about bad shooting - Akron was 1 of 18 from the 3pt line vs Fordham.
DocCas86
A couple of interesting OOC games for MAC teams this evening Cincinnati @ Miami OH - this should be a good test to see what to expect from MOH in conference play Marshall @ Akron - Akron struggled in recent games - do they show up tonight against a solid Marshall team. Ohio @ LSU - LSU has only had one close game (OT win against Penn St). It will be interesting to see how Ohio fares.

This would be like us playing Syracuse at home. I wonder if anybody in Oxford will care for a change...

Amazing how the state of basketball is you live and die by the three point shot. Teams do not or can not change their game plan in today’s game. Very seldom do you see pull up jump shots or many shots inside the three point line. Games are littered with terrible three point percentages but very seldom do you see coaches change. Go Bulls!!!! It’s been the state of college basketball and basketball in general, it’s all about flashy shooting. As a unit we are pretty damn good inside. And with our improved free throw shooting, we can abuse teams by getting to the line constantly by making a living inside. That’s not to say we should stop shooting 3’s, but if we live and die by them, games are just going to be out of reach.

Getting the almost entire team back has helped.
DooleyBull06
Not a MAC score but ASU lost 51-29 tonight against Washington State. Yikes! Noah Williams led all scorers with 14. Dare I say the seat in ASU is getting warm.
