I am conflicted here on a "quality" vs "quantity" sort of argument.

Here it goes.

I was looking at ESPN.com for the football games on Friday afternoon (seeing the schedule).  I saw all of the games that day (and the next day)...or so I thought.  I could not find the MAC championship game.  "Why isn't the game listed?" I thought as I went back and forth.  Then I noticed my problem:  it defaults to "Top 25".  Once I changed it to "All D1", I was able to see the NIU vs KSU game (a battle of 8 - 4 vs 7 - 5).

Is the MAC now the worst football conference in FBS?  Pat Forde thought so in September.   https://www.si.com/college/2021/09/27/ranking-fbs-football-conferences-big-ten-sec

So while it is great the MAC has 8 teams bowling, is it currently the worst FBS conference?

The MAC, CUSA, and MWC all petitioned the NCAA to create an additional one time bowl game so that they wouldn’t potentially have to leave out a bowl eligible team.

Hawaii and a team from either CUSA or the MAC was going to be left out.

The petition was granted and a new bowl game was born.

This year all bowl eligible teams will be in a bowl game.

That last line is laughable. It used to be an honor to make a bowl game. Now, it's a holiday trip for any average team.

I like the airtime it gives smaller programs but it's almost harder *not* to make a bowl game now than it is to go bowling.

ESPN needs content, And schools who wouldn't get a sniff of a bowl game back in the day have a shot now. Arguments go either way.
