  1. It would appear that the Super Senior transfer has nothing to lose by putting their name out in the Portal...the opportunity for a 6th year.

I am not concerned that this is happening, as most have not been key contributors, so why would a coach want to keep around someone for a 6th year and take a a valuable slot in the 85 limit and maybe the players thoughts are if I didn't start/play a lot as a 5th year senior, why would I want to come back to the same program for a 6th year.  Only with the covid year are we seeing this in college football.

This team needs more talent and speed...so Mo has to free up slots and recruit better players than 5th year role/reserve players within the 85 player limit.

  2. I believe that when you hire a search firm that the risk isn't that you will not have a quality search, it is that you cannot sell the top candidates on the opportunity and pay them $$.  At the end of the process, the only thing that matters is the quality of the hire and the reaction for the current players and recruits.

The truly sad part about the timing of this event (post spring ball) is the impact on the players.  There is no way this team will be as good (even if everyone stays) in 2021 than they would have been with Lance and the staff that is leaving.  The transition to new coaches (even if they hire a few within) at this time of the season is going to be extremely difficult.

  3. Getting into the best available option is probably what any player (and parent) would want during the recruiting process.  Since not many multi bid conferences schools offered him, it would appear that his current skills/body are more aligned to a 1 bid conference.  He looks really lean in the video, so facing players in the AAC that are 30-40 pounds heavier during his first 1-2 years might worry some coaches as to his production capabilities.  With current transfer rules, I don't see many coaches taking a runner on a "development project", only to see them transfer once they develop.  It is easier now to dip into the transfer portal for new head coaches than chase high schoolers.

Hopeful he makes the best choice to what program he can play early and develop his body.

  4. Looks like Fedor, Scott (to JuCO per Twitter), Dadaboe and Nolden are missing from the 2019 Spring Roster.  Coulld be they graduated, transferred or are medical redshirts,

WR looks light in regards to speed unless Nunn becomes the "go to" deep threat.

Football Scoop: Northern Illinois: Buffalo offensive line coach Daryl Agpalsa is joining Thomas Hammock’s staff at NIU. Agpalsa had coached offensive line for Lance Leipold at Buffalo and at Whitewater; and had previously served as a grad assistant at Minnesota where he worked with Hammock.

Seems like a lateral move at best, unless the $$ is that much better (which is hard to believe).  DeKalb is a very rural location, and not a place you would move to for location (unless you want to be closer to Wisconsin or Minnesota) or because of the campus setting.  This seems like a big loss, as the OL has been very good.  Best of luck to Daryl and his family.
