  1. Woah a lot to digest here:

Watching the crowd on TV my guess is most of the non-student fans look like older alums who are getting their school spirit rekindled. And that's great. But we also need area kids to get invested. They are your future fans.

Tons of kids have been going to the games. A baby sits behind me in my seasons and they always have kids play basketball at halftime. If anything, MORE kids have been coming out this season. I am not disagreeing with your statement about older alums, we are getting those too. As we can tell with a 6,177 crowd without students.

Also, we need to get Bulls swag into the Wegman's stores and Walmarts.

They do. It might not be right in the front but they sell them. Usually in the sections close to the registers after your purchase. It has been there since 2010 (when I moved to Buffalo). How do I know? I bought a shirt there. They do need to get it out more but it goes back to RMA point about licensing

just not a fan of DJs at live sporting events 99% of the time

I agree with you here until last game. If they have a guy who is a little better at hyping a crowd, I can see it as a huge success. That is how you get the public into it. I noticed they tried it last game against Miami. They had the DJ come out to the main floor and try to hype people up. But I swear all he kept on saying was "Let's Get It". This is where you get a Let's Go Buffalo going. (Go to a Bandits game where they do an amazing job with a DJ getting you into the game. "Whats he got???")

So lets keep our games intimate and keep the value high. UB games become a privilege. If we could get our games off ESPN+ and on in all the local bars that would help.

THIS! This is what we should be striving for within the next 2 or 3 years. Once we reach this, then we can go to Keybank (who knows it might have a different name by then). No person will say, "I couldn't go to a UB game, therefore I will never go." If anything, it makes them want to go to a game more.

So, we all know Harris has (yet again) turned it on big time for MAC play... see:

But I don't think enough can be said about the play of Dontay Caruthers. He just plays so hard in every game. He doesn't always fill up the scoring but he has countless hustle plays and is, IMO, our best all around defender. He's also starting to stack up a reel of highlight dunks! In a lot of ways I think this team hinges on the intensity and grit that he brings night in and night out.

BTW, he plays like this to save money 😅

That is hilarious. I also love the little comment about having to owe her a lot after the Marquette game 😂

Btw, segu’s work effort is tremendous. There is an Instagram post of him taking shots at alumni at 1am after they got back

He has been doing that every game. I swear, he came back after the Syracuse game and posted on Instagram of him putting up shots at around 1 am. That is the type of person you want on the squad.

Usually Williams is out there with him too at that time.

From a media prospective, it is helpful when a guy like Segu (who has a huge social media presence) posts about Buffalo and the Bulls. Brings more awareness to the program

On a game note,  31% from three point range.  13 compared to their 6 offensive rebounds. In my mind, that stat is what won us the game. WMU definitely played their best for 35 minutes. You can tell WMU was gassed at the end and couldn't keep up. The announcers mentioned it too. Gotta give them a lot of credit though. They put up better efforts than the other MAC teams we played this season.

I am expecting Oats to go to Massinburg a lot against EMU to try to get him going before two road games.

If this continues to be the case, I expect a number of games that are close at half and then we explode in the 2nd to win by a large margin. MAC teams don't have the depth to do this effectively IMO. As long as we don't get frustrated and just keep playing our game it's simply not a sustainable strategy against our lineup.

Doesn't WMU only have 8 guys essentially that get playing time. Just maintain Holiday and keep a high tempo and this is ours.

However...the students are back for WMU and this is the highest ranked team they have ever hosted in that arena.  We will very, very likely see WMU's best on display tonight.

Good catch. I checked tickets yesterday and there were still a ton left. Student sections were obviously blocked off. I can see a ton of students coming out bringing their A game.

  5. I am trying to see how this will be for a match-up. I am having a hard time finding a spot where the Bulls might not be favored.

Taking a look, Sibande (Guard) and Brown (Forward) are their two biggest scorers. I don't see them doing well against Jordan (hope he is healthy) and McRea/Perkins.

They won't keep up with our transition offense. This might be a massacre.

P.S. My thread was turned into the official Miami (Oh) thread. Momma, I made it.

  6. Personally, I find it tough watching us play Reggie every year. Reggie was significant for our program. I agree with many posters in that it was time to move on. It seems it was the right choice. I hope Reggie finds success.

As for dutchcountry, speak for yourself. Don't generalize. I care about the Big 4 rivalries. It is fun and should be advertised. I think that this story should be hyped up as it is. You can see where both coaches were coming from. If you don't like it, you don't. Not ALL people.

Although some people might not like Oats comments, opposing fans remember this. Remember what happened this year with Syracuse? Fans were mentioning comments that Oats said last year (we are more physical) and carrying it over to the following year. Rivalries are good. Do you not think that if Cansius beats UB next year that they won't mention Oats comments?!

  7. Jeez, you all must be very fun at parties.

Best season we have had so far. It is has been incredibly fun to watch and experience. Buzz is all over the nation. It is nice to see more UB gear being worn around. (Stores were having issues with inventory on campus from people buying a lot.)

Excited to see how this plays out and incredibly proud of this team so far. From how they conduct themselves and the selfless attitude.

  8. They are still selling the 100s and 200s for season tickets. I thought it was odd. I noticed the seat next to my seasons was always vacant for the past couple games (I'm in the 200's). I asked how much the ticket was to buy out for the rest of the games (so I can bring friends, etc). It is still the same price as I paid before the seasons started.

In my mind, I get you want to sell season tickets still. It should be prorated though for the amount of games that are left.

  9. HUGE game. Just about the biggest game of the season in my mind when it comes to at-large potential and solidifying that UB is the real deal (crazy to say that given we have some quality wins already). Marquette plays similar to us.  It seems a lot of their strategy will be getting UB into foul trouble early to take pressure off guards.

I want to see them hungry for this game. More than Bonaventure, more than Syracuse, more than Arizona. We need big games from Jordan and Caruthers. If Harris can hit 40% from 3-pt range that would certainly help too.

Most importantly, TURNOVERS, they had 22 turnovers against North Dakota. If we can get them in trouble with that, I can't see them keeping up with our transition.

As the great Oats says, "We're the better team, we play harder."

  10. 3 point underdogs

I will take that. If I am Oats I am letting the players know that. This will be a tough game. Hoping to see a lot of Blue out in the stands.

I am nervous about the zone. (If you follow me, I am always nervous with us playing the zone this season). We become stagnant and hesitate. SIU switched to a zone 10 minutes in the first half and we looked flat. For some reason, I feel like Caruthers will have a big game for this one.

All that said, I think we are coming out 10 point victors in this one 82-72
