Agreed, from the games I've watched that has been a frustration point for me. Her talent is unquestionable, but need to get others involved to keep from 4 people watching her play the game. Its incumbent on her to recognize when that is happening as much as the coaches and other players. No player will be "on" every game, so they need to all contribute, even if she is the main contributor. That's one thing I thought Dillard was exception at. She was obviously the best on the floor, but she was able to keep her teammates engaged. Hopefully they can solve that. Also with some of the incoming player having good pedigrees, that will help elevate the entire team. Go Bulls!!

    I totally agree with this.

First, I'll say that I haven't seen many games this year (only 1) but I am a longtime season ticket holder.

Once Fair gets the ball in the front court, she rarely passes it especially if the shot clock is running out (at least last year). She doesn't even look at her teammates.  No wonder her teammates don't move when she gets the ball. She's a little better this year with 104 assists so far compared to 106 the entire last year. On the good side, her turnovers are way down from last year (56 vs 123 last year) but I think she thinks she's a one-women show. McEvans is showing good signs of helping on the offense.

The team also needs to find a consistent 3 point shooter. Hall is very streaky. Some days she makes them, others she doesn't. I guess that's the life of a 3-point shooter. Fair, in the last 3 losses, is 5 of 32 from 3-point range (15%). When she can't drive the basket, she throws up desperate 3 point shots.

Comparing Fair to Dillard is probably a good comparison. Both were shooting guards that like to drive the basket. Both are "ball hogs". But, Fair is currently only a Sophomore. In Dillard's senior year, her total scoring went up but so did her turnovers (from 98 to 129) (probably because she didn't have Reid to go to).  Dillard shot around 32-35% from 3-point range her 4 years (including UMass). Fair is consistent at 31.4% both this year and last year from 3. In short, Dillard had more assists, points and turnovers than Fair. Again, good that Fair has cut the turnovers but she needs to improve her shot/shot selection and increase her assists.

As UBinMD said, hopefully the rest of the team will play better so Fair doesn't feel she needs to carry the team.

Kounkou and Adams did not get much time...not sure about Hamilton. Departures happen every season on almost every team across the country, especially in recent years. We also brought in two transfers this season.

If a few players are unhappy, they should leave...no use in being somewhere you do not want to be. The team is doing just fine.

5 in ONE off season to leave the team. Over a third of the team leaving!! That is unusual. Men didn't lose anybody!!

Hamilton says she left because she thought she wouldn't get the playing time this season.  She was probably the best of the forwards last year (without Hemphill).

Doesn't seem like Coach Jack is instilling a "team" atmosphere here.

  3. I didn't watch the game but in the game against Western Michigan on Wednesday, Fair shot 3 of 14 FG and 1 of 7 from 3PT with 5 TO.  Hall was no better at 1-8.

At least Onwuka and Adeyeye shot a combined nearly 60% (probably in the paint).

This team will not go far if they don't improve their shooting. They also need to improve their D on 3-point shots (especially when playing zone).

So while Fair is on the bench, who do you suggest that the team puts in? I'm sure that there are countless better options than someone who's scoring in the top 5 in the country in points/game, regardless of shooting % and assist/turnover numbers.

Okay, a few (too many stats).

Fair has the 2nd highest FGA in the country (369) but the 30th in the country in FGM (134).  Not in the top 250 in FG%.

33rd in the country in minutes played per game.

Dillard finished the season last year 15th in the country in Assists. Fair so far this year is 105.

I just wish she would be more of a team player. That's all I'm asking for.  She shouldn't be a one-person team.

I mean, you're also comparing a true freshman to a 5th year senior, so there has to be some accounting for the age & experience difference, in addition to the young teammates that she has.

If Fair needs to develop, then she should spend some time on the bench so others can come in. She shouldn't need to feel "she" needs to do it all. What happened to the Dickson sisters? Why hasn't Finess played all year?

Gaba started out strong with 2 very strong low post moves.  Finished one with her left hand, and the second with the right.  We went to her in the low post a few times after that, but she seemed to have a problem with holding on to the ball for much of the game.

I'm not as big a fan on Gaba as The Coach. She can get minutes but why put her in during the clutch (OTs). She does not have good hands (and not very athletic) but occasionally has a move to the basket (that surprises me). Why wasn't Hamilton in the game during the final stretch? Somebody else already asked about Walters.

Very similar to Dillard. But Fair does occasionally put up great assist numbers

Fair so far this year is 80 TO and 76 Assists. 5 TO last night with 3 Assists.

Dillard last year was 129 TO and 194 Assists.

Fair needs to drive the basket (like she does) and then pass out for others to get the 3. That was what Dillard would do.

The team this year is 343 TOs to 244 Assists. Very bad numbers.

Did she go like 0-10 down the stretch and in OT? tough....

By my count, it was 1-12 in the 4th Q and OTs for FGs.  On the game, she was 10-31 FG and 1-5 3PT.  Yes, alot of points (29) but alot of missed shots.

I call her the human vacuum. Once she gets the ball in the front court, she doesn't pass (probably more like 80-90% she takes the shot).

Not sure is she's had it before but since her suspension for one game, she's had this nasty scowl on her face. I feel she thinks she needs to prove something.

  8. Victor graduated last year on senior night at basketball.  So, I assume it should be a new one this year. He's been around.

    Haven't seen Victoria in years!!

While we're at it... The Tully's promo is the worst EVER.  You win if the other team misses 6 Free Throws??  Pick a statistic that at least relates to UB or something UB can control. And the promo is only good for TWO days after the game. Why bother?

Like 8k plus.  The game in question set the attendance record.  I was there and there were plenty standing.  We also court stormed too.  Probably won't be broken bc capacity now is just over 6k.

I had thought it was 9500 but that might be going back in 1990's.   This article says it was 8500 before the remodel:

    http://www.buffalo.edu/ubreporter/archive/vol35/vol35n15/articles/AlumniArena.html

Also, current capacity is listed as 6783 but the attendance today was 6177. Where could they have put another 600 people. They announced it was Standing Room Only and the railing was packed with people.

Over/under on how much time Perkins misses?  I'm praying it's only a couple weeks.

I expect he'll miss none. He was back on the bench near the end of the game. Even walked out for the under 4min TO and was testing it.  Do ice on it.  Seemed to be walking fine in the few steps I saw him take.

Yes she is. And she's been coming off the bench averaging 15 minutes a game. I think she may be hurt because she's missed the last 2 games.

Hence the original question. And she hasn't been on the bench the last two games as well.
