  1. Even though it is delayed an hour having it on SNY( Mets Sports Network) is good for the metro NYC area.  I wish all our games were om YES or SNY.  It would be nice even delayed.  It would play nice for our NYC alumnus.  YES and SNY come free on my sports package.  I would not mind any of those station replaying UB Basketball/ UB football at 4 in the morning.  By the way I am going to watch it an hour delayed so no spoilers

The absolute minimum is one game in Albany every three years in my opinion.   Which would mean playing Siena and Albany once every six years in a staggered schedule.

I also think it is reasonable to include UMass as a Albany area team even though they are a ways outside of Albany.  It’s a big enough game that it should attract some traveling alums.

You won’t get teams to agree to games every year but one game in Albany once every three years would be big for alumni, students, and recruits.

I said this before You want to increase Alumni support Play in The New York City Area every year.  Play where your students go to work.  The way to get better games is to have more eyes watching.  If you can bring in fans to events you get better games.  You have better TV rating the NCAA will take you as an at large.  More eyes more people downstate where your alumni live.

That’s why you do it as a home/home to establish your fan base and be able to dependably market to them.

You don’t start out getting those deals without fans.  Unless you’re willing to provide a financial guarantee to rent the arena yourself and pay the guarantee to bring in the opponent.

The idea is to play one game a year where your Alumni live.  I can not get up to Buffalo to see them there.  I can take my family and meet the people that I went to school with in the NYC area.  That will build more financial support.  I do want to see them live and in person both in football and basketball.  Get the game down here so you can bring in a new fan base.

    No home/home?

You want to give away a game?

Who do you propose to play?  Where do you propose to play?

I do not know who will play us. Choose St John's, Hofstra, Iona ect...  Truth be known I like to see it against St John's at MSG

That's not a snowball...that's a snowflake.   Our robot overlords will be well in place before we get to a reasonable fanbase using what you mention.

I agree with everyone saying bring UB downstate.  I do not think we need a home and home even.  One game a year during Thanksgiving or Christmas break. Then you get some Alumni and some current Students.  Make it an annual thing and it builds on itself

Yup.  The ideal conference for UB would be something like:

    - Buffalo

    - Ohio U

    - Miami-OH

    - Toledo

    - Kent State

    - Marshall

    - UMass

    - UConn

    - Temple

    - Army (football only)

This would be the perfect balance of geography and talent for UB right now and would make a nice conference for basketball and football with perfect locations for recruiting.

But there is no reason for the other schools to move to a conference that makes UB the center of the conference.

How about adding Iona College (basketball only) Downstate for NYC, Long Island And Westchester Alumni

UB should be more than willing to come down to the NYC area to play. I live down here, while at Iona Pitino wants to play games at the Garden, Barclays and the new arena in LI. He wants a strong metro area footprint. And as said he can coach and will prolly have Iona dancing every year. UB should jump at the shot to come down state and establish some roots here ourselves. Just my opinion.

I love to see them down state for a three game road trip.  St Johns, Iona and Hofstra

I love it.  Introduced this a.m., and tonight, we're planning his departure.  Much like the Blocker thread on Basketball recruiting.  And, I think we already know who will be pissed at him when he goes.

I will say again that it is a great hire  I'm tired of reading on here how butt hurt everyone gets when we hire a successful coach and they move up.  If I read about someone saying how they would not leave Buffalo even for 5x their salary I'll hurl.  Most people have family and lifetimes ties to Buffalo community these coaches do not.  I do not think we could have hired any better this late in the season.  I believe he will do well.  I will wish him well when he leaves on that note I hope LL wins in Kentucky and I hope Oats wins a national championship in Alabama.

But only to 12/15/21? That’s strikes me as odd. I wonder if it decreases afterwards or it is eliminated altogether.

If Mo is successful he will not be here for more than 3 years.  Look at his resume he is a hit and run guy looking for a bigger challenge.  It is a great hire.  He believes in himself and I think for the next 3 years we are set but he does have one foot out the door.

If these players leave at the 1st sign of adversity are these really the players you want in the program?

These kids do not know who UB was going to hire.  If I was them I would have put myself into the transfer portal too.  It is May and preaty late in the game to put together a staff.  He has a long way to go before the ship is righted.  It is a really good first step though.

Don't worry. The staff here is just doing their due diligence after missing on the first four guards they tried to recruit.

Wait they do not need to get the first players they need to get the best players for our team

His situation isn’t even remotely close to Tyree Jackson. Patterson has peaked and he has nothing left to prove. He will be drafted and definitely make an impact somewhere. He has the IQ to be great, great vision, ability to make guys miss tackles. He will be gone latest 4th round.

He has one thing to prove.  Can he catch a pass out of the backfield, in todays NFL without being a pass catcher you do not go high in the draft.  If LL will commit to throwing him some screens and making him a part of whatever passing we have he should stay one more year

The dozen or so sites that track such things, Buffalo keeps coming up in two bowls with two opponents:

The Camellia Bowl in Montgomery AL (12/25) vs Louisiana

The Arizona Bowl in Tucson AZ (12/31) vs San Jose State

I held out hope that the Bulls would get a P5 opponent but both UL and San Jose are ranked and would be good challenges. One outlier prediction is Boise State at the Idaho Potato Bowl (ugh.)  Great opponent but for the sake of the players I hope they get to go to Florida or Arizona.,

To early to say IF we win the next two games and JP runs for 300 yards in both games.  We might get a better bowl.

A bit unrelated and prob too soon but what are the chances Patterson comes back for his Senior year and most of the line returns? The QBs will be back. I’m thinking with the lack of a full season to show Patterson’s full potential and opportunity to boost his draft stock closer to the first round, he could stick around for next year. Thoughts?

Buffalo RB Jaret Patterson rising in 2021 NFL Draft buzz (247sports.com)

This says JP is #2 Running Back in nation in draft.  If I was him I would go.

  15. If anyone here thinks they would not jump at a good job that pays 2x to 3x more than they make now they are crazy.  Alabama is good job and Oats believes that he can win there.  Wish the man well and say who next.  I hope the next coach has as much coaching and recruiting talent as we had before.  This is life as a mid major.
