PLENTY to not like about that game and in the end it's a heart-shattering loss .But wow the 27th ranked team in America is crying tears of joy and their fans storming the court after beating our team full of disappointments and dead coaches walking.

We made a 13-2 run to tie it in what will be our most hostile road environment of the year. That's invaluable experience for critical MAC Tournament games to come and the guts they showed make me care about these kids even more.

How many would have already been driving down Maple Rd during that comeback based on this thread? Really unbecoming of our fanbase.

Jeenathan showed tremendous heart and skill, which are his absolute hallmarks. Rondo did as well. They need to have a chat with their fellow senior ASAP if they want the season to mean anything - embarrassing no show from Mballa today.  Whitesell and his staff don't bother installing offense in August like most programs, so I'm not sure we can do it now. No confidence we would execute a play like they did at the end.

I appreciate the positivity, but please don’t sugar coat it this is a bad loss. For the level we expected the team to come into this season and Bonnie’s missing their best, player, you have to win this game period. This is a senior laden team, don’t need to hear about how it was a great experience, they lost period.  Need to play better first half and not put themselves in this position every game.

  2. Couldn’t agree with you more here. Do you remember when the team actually used to draw charges couple years ago? It’s almost like the coaches forgot to coach this, no one looks to take a charge anymore, and we usually have 4 or 5 called against us every game. It’s a huge factor in college basketball when players only have 5 fouls. That whole blue collar system is out the window now.

I honestly had hopes of an at large bid, at least the potential for one.  This team just doesn't have it though.  None of their games this year let alone the last few have looked like "team" basketball.  Just a bunch of dudes taking turns taking shots.  It's just not fun basketball anymore.

At large hope is definitely completely gone now. Only chance is winning mac tourney. Like to see what we got with some of these freshman these next couple games, if they are going to be a factor at all this year.

At the beginning of the season we thought this was a potential at-large team. In reality, this is a middling d1 team that might have a shot at the MAC championship if they hit a streak.

    beyond disappointing so far.

No shot of an at large now even if we beat St Bonaventure, which I’m gonna say is very unlikely with this Whitesell coached team. Gonna have to get on a streak to make tourney which who knows with this team.

Mballa look like an all-MAC rebounding machine to you? Not seeing much effort, not seeing much boxing out. Thus far, he's absolutely having a disappointing year. His rebounding and high FG% scoring are missing from the winning equation we need.

Agree with you here, haven’t seen that dominant player I been expecting. I get him struggling against the power schools like Michigan, but he should be dominating against SFA and he’s just getting out worked.

I’ve given the benefit of the doubt for years now but man Whitesell just isn’t a good head coach. Great assistant but just lacks total leadership. This is a mess

Hate to agree but I do. Whitesell has not impressed me as a coach at all. No adjustments after halftime.

It’s not on him. UNT has game planned against him. Making others beat them. We haven’t made the adjustment. Bad coaching and poor shooting.

2-12 from field is game planning?? If your gonna take the shots make them otherwise pass it.

  8. I watched the game and was impressed with the toughness of the team in the second half. Dickinson was gonna get his I expected that going into the game. In order to beat a team like Michigan on the road you have to shot a good clip from 3 and we just did not do that at all. Was really disappointed with Maceo Jack and Brewton. Combined 2-12 from 3pt line and supposed to be there game.  The shots were also good takes and some were wide open, just missed. Need better play out of both of them. Segu also can’t play 38 minutes a game, Curtis Jones or someone else needs to play a bigger role, need Segu to have fresh legs in crunch time. I expect a better shooting performance against North Texas.

Love this. Taking it a step forward.

    Starting lineup:

    PG: Segu

    SG: ?

    Wing: Williams

    SF: Hardnett

    PF: Mballa

Open competition for the 2 guard spot. Brewton or Jack. With whoever losing out becoming an instant option off the bench. Then you have the plethora of bigs that will earn their roles. Our obvious and glaring need is PG. Another wing or SG would be great. If there’s roster room.

Need a reliable PG who can fit right in and get 15+ minutes off the bench. I think they should go to transfer portal for this one. This will be a veteran team next year and want someone w experience who can play big minutes if needed.
