  1. Hi everyone - getting excited about the upcoming season and Coach Mo! Something that has frustrated me in the past is the lack of news around recruiting for football, I feel like this is something a lot of big programs have but lacks with UB.

I am starting a UB recruiting twitter where I will try to keep up to date with scholarships, commitments, top targets and hopefully some other content like Q&A with potential players and commits.

You can follow me below, I would really appreciate it!

UB to the ACC? Big 10?  Didn't you guys just get rid of soccer and baseball because they were too expensive? Did you get a new football stadium?    Don't forget us when you go to the ACC.

You act like any sport besides Football and Basketball matter. Every school in the country would get rid of all sports besides those 2 if they could. None have the ability to make money besides football and basketball.

Will be great if he could fit into a WR/TE type position, most of our returning TEs are the blocking type. Has incredible height and wingspan for a receiver

My source tells me he will be playing Edge. "Elite pass rusher just need some Lbs"

Name is not necessary.  From where? Someone with connections to team, some internet troll in a basement in pajamas, off a Q posting?  Anybody who reports something as a fact must say where the source is from.  Believe me it can be very vague and the source''s true identity will remain anonymous.  Otherwise it looks like you said something for the sake of saying something to move a discussion.

Fine. My source is a salaried UB Football employee.

He hasn’t appeared back on the EKU roster, nothing on 247 so no idea.

Not because he is going back to EKU or any other school  He has been dismissed from the program by the staff

I have wondered about Khamran. He has ability and I would bet he wants to be on the field with his cousin this year. But with several SR and super Sr WR's, would this staff choose to RS him, like the last staff handled Anthony Johnson out of JUCO? That worked out well in the long run. Marlyn Johnson and Porter will push those Sr's for playing time, too.

I agree a freshman, like Gassett, would be tough to sit if he has the major talent his speed could provide.

Coach Mo is not the guy that will bench guys who can help the team win (at least in my opinion).

It will be interesting to see how Ruiz & Johnson fit into Mo's vision. I could definitely see a world where neither of them see the field as much as expected for being 6th year guys.

Hand me 13 mil, I'll take BS for a couple years, get canned, and ride off into the sunset happily with my family.

There is a Lance Lieipold to Kansas thread you guys can go argue about Lances' happiness. Keep this thread to discussing Mo and the Bulls!

  8. He deleted the tweet about him committing today, which I cannot imagine is a good sign.

Are we sure we want this kid? He seems to be all over the place, if he doesnt play 35 mins a game as a freshman he might transfer

Yep. If he left last January,  I'd be happy for him. If he left this January,  same deal. Leaving now seems like a self-centered, weak and backhanded move. Congrats,  you got your money. I for one,  don't see him doing similar to nate's rise. If he does, I'll eat crow, but I'd wager against it (and I'm not much of a bettor).

The thing is you have to define success based on how Kansas is measuring success.

Mark Stoops at Kentucky has it in his contract every time he wins 7 games he gets a 1 year contract extension. The AD at Kentucky has set the expectation of success at 7 games.

If Kansas AD is saying win 6 games a year by year 5 and then consistently after that? Then that is something I believe Lance can do. If expectation are 8 to 9 wins a year then yes obviously he will fail to that comparison.

Kansas is a rebuild. People seem to like that AD and I am sure he is setting expectations to be a rebuild. Lance has a shot to have success by Kansas standards (if that is their standard)

And now for something (new?) and different...

I am in deep admiration of all of those on this board whose ethics and character would have them turn down a likely tripling of income, perquisites and ancillary opportunity, all in the name of what a fan base would desire; or at age 56 (how many on the board are 56 or older?....I digress) turn down what,  as has been noted, could be the proverbial "last kick at the can...".  Some would say, Carpe Diem.

It seems to me that there is ample evidence that NCAA football (sports in general) is a business, rather than a hobby or passing interest.  Business can be cold sometimes.  I presume Lance made a business decision with/for his family and his own sense of opportunity.

Personally, I wish Lance and his family nothing but the best.  I hope he is a great success at Kansas.  Will he be successful?  Well I guess that depends who measures; what criteria they define; and how long he is given.  But in the meanwhile, the business of football (sports in general) will go on, and continue to make a great deal of money, and engage fans emotionally both up and down.

The timing sucks.  This too we will survive.

Ah, the life of a mid-major fan..."Next Coach In"!

I dont think anyone here has said they would turn down the job in the name of what the fan base wants. I think the general consensus was that this year we were going to be really good and likely be back in the MAC Championship where Lance would then be the top candidate for every school looking for a job and he would be able to take a job that is paying as much or more than Kansas and actually have a shot to be successful.

Everyone here knew/knows Lance was going to leave at some point in the near future.
