Except for the fact he earned over $680,000.00 last year, per seethroughny.net

500 -700 same difference. The point still stands we were paying Oats more, and if we have any dreams of becoming an elite program we have to keep coaches. You keep coaches by paying them what they deserve. Lance being our football coach for the next 15 years is as valuable as it gets. He should be the highest paid coach in the conference.

*By the word elite I mean, maybe have a shot at moving up conferences in the future and consistently being in the MAC Championship and at bowl games*

  2. I would really like to see Alnutt come out and offer Lance close to what he deserves after all this (granted he stays). The fact he is only making 500k/year is ridiculous. We were shelling out close to 1M for Oats and we should do the same if not more for Lance if we are serious about becoming a consistent competitive program.

If we are only willing to pay our most successful football coach in D1 era 500k/year then we as fans have to temper our expectations on the ceiling and floor of this program.

Not sure there could be a fit...but this is one intra-conference move that could make sense.   He would likely come off the bench, rather than start as he did at EMU, but depending on available scholarships (pending Fagan and Zachery resolution) if we could sell him on being an integral part of a top tier MAC program, maybe it can happen.

I would agree if he wasn't a senior. With 5 seniors already on the team (possibly 6 if Fagan returns) that would create a lot of gaps for the 2022-2023 season.

Honestly this is awesome for him. Probably wasn’t even looked at by South Carolina while playing high school in their state

I dont know if its just me, but he isnt an SEC player. I watched a few North Texas games this year. He is good but I cannot imagine him getting a lot of minutes there unless South Carolina is just really bad.

The difference? We have thousands and thousands of instant viewers on Twitter. Here, maybe 40 of UB's biggest fans will see it before. I'd call that quite the difference.

I'll gladly not post any news I hear if that's what you want.

I think we should all be grateful we have a little bit on inside info on here especially since our 2 biggest sports head coaches are Whitesell And LL who notoriously like to keep things close to their chest and are not big marketers

Ok I won’t deep dive too much, was more hoping to find some new social media to follow for commitments, offers and interest

He is saying he has sources within the program or people who are looped in on this type of thing.

I know we all get frustrated not hearing things, but if these two are the types of players we can bring in, I can learn patience. These seem like solid pickups with high upside.

After watching Jones' highlight tape I am unsure how he doesnt have more offers? Maybe because teams thought he was staying another year in JUCO and didnt recruit him now spots are filled. He just looks very impressive, with a smooth shot and being a 6'5 PG.

Saw that coming, they’re in need of a starting caliber guard. It’s going to be tough for us to get a commitment but I confident we will. Many of these transfers want to start, not come off the bench. I’m hoping we go and grab a freshman/sophomore guard we can develop and doesn’t mind coming off the bench

I agree, it is hard to expect a Junior or Senior to want to come in and be a bench player (especially someone coming from a high major). All high major transfer will likely have an opportunity at a mid major to start, so it comes down to if they care about winning or not.

I have said before in other threads, I really think the staff should target DII guys trying to transfer up (specifically Freshman or Sophomores). There are a ton of good options out there.

Segu and jack are point guards right, Brewton is more of a shooting guard? We’d need another SG and kidtrell would fit there

Jack is a 2 or a 3, he is 6'5. Same height as Williams and about 15lbs less

Wow, that last line is a major goal. If he (or anyone) could do that, we instantly get WAY better. I don't see anyone on the current roster that will be that. Chanse was that hope, oops.

I didnt say "be Caruthers" I say play that type of role. 7th man (Perkins was technically the 6th) shoots above avg. and plays a little D for us.

I’m gonna say Brewton is a lock at starter, if he’s here for next year. Hardnett and Skogman are going to be seeing plenty of time.

Thats 7 players in the rotation, ideally we would need another guard in that rotation, maybe even 2 more. And if we can maintain a 8-9 player rotation, we should be solid.

What has Brewton showed that makes him a lock? Jack is far and away more accomplished player.

Honestly we should have 0 expectation for Brewton this year, he looked awful in the minutes he got and shot horribly from 3 and the field. Anything he provides will be a +. Hopefully he can play a Caruthers type role for us.

  12. Whitesell has a ton of ammunition with roster flexibility now. The only thing that hurts is there arent truly any starting spots available. If we assume its Segu, Jack, Williams, Mballa, Hardnett.

Not being day 1 starter is probably deterring a lot of players in the transfer portal to coming to UB

Hopefully it’s us but I’m not sure if it will be. Saw he got an offer from Georgia state just a few days ago so it could be them. They’re also the only school listed as “warm” on his 247 profile. Then again that could mean nothing too! https://247sports.com/Player/Kidtrell-Blocker-46114492/

Yeah I wouldnt say that all signs point to him signing with us. Just tweeted about another offer, goes warm on 247, then announces he is committing. Sounds like a Ga St lock.

I guess we will see tomorrow.

6’8 from Paris. Another Mballa type physically. Whitesell really loves bigs. We could have the tallest team in conference but no one to run point.

I would have to imagine he knows Josh from youth national teams and such. Could be our connection with him and help us get him in. Looks like he has a little bit of a shot too (38% from 3 two years ago)

    Certainly agree with both statements.

Will be interesting to see if Gallion enters or not. Doesn't seem like he has trust from coaching staff to play meaningful minutes. Would it be better off to send him packing and get in another young guard who can develop?
