  1. There was som discussion over on the MAC board about who UB’s conference rivalry would be. Some there mentioned Akron, Kent, Ohio EMU… thought I’d ask who Bulls fans see as your biggest rivalry. Listed everyone in the old MAC East and EMU. Also left an option for no one.  Just curious as to your thoughts. Thanks.

Well...heres where things stand this morning after last nights games.  Both Miami & Kent State are tied at 3-4.  Miami is the fourth place team because of their head to head against Kent.

SO.........UB wins 2 & BG wins against Ohio......it goes to tiebreakers for sure.  IF THE TIEBREAKER RULES ARE TO BE UNDERSTOOD (Again its conviluted and no real good explanation)

Since the head to heads for Ohio vs BG vs  UB dont break the tiebreaker, next would go to record against the 4th place team.

That would be Miami regardless, after yesterdays results.....all three beat Miami.....so it goes down to the 5th place team Kent State.

Only UB (again they have to beat Kent State to finish the season) the other two both lost to Kent, so UB wins the East and Detroit.

    BUTTTTTT......

Question for the room.......With this storm coming.......unless the game is played as is scheduled.....anything the MAC tries to do with this game potentially screws over UB yet again.....just like in 2014 and the Kent State Equipment truck fiasco.

If they outright cancel it....its screws up UB's division record.

If they try to postpone....it puts UB on a really short week going into a potentially very important game.

Can they force a forfeit by Akron (game means nothing for them).  How firm can/should UB be with the MAC?  Thoughts?

After head to head record, it goes to division record, not vs individual teams.  In order for the three way tie at 6-2 to be a reality, Buffalo would be 4-1 against the MAC East while Ohio and BG would be 3-2, giving the three way tie to the Bulls.

Sections m109 & m 110 we’re behind the team bench.   Each section is sparse, difficult to predict where the UB fans will be, but most seemed to be at the bench end but behind the basket.   The arena website has a link to seatgeek.   #ubhornsup

My guess is with UB being the highest seed left, they’ll have the bench in front of sections 106 and 107 tonight. That was the bench Toledo had as the highest seed the last 2 days. I could be wrong though. Safe travels to anyone making the trip.

What were the crowds like?  How was it in the stands?

It honestly felt a lot like the early session quarter finals do in a normal year. Seemed like there was about 2500ish people.  They limited it to between 6 and 8 people per row, basically one pod of 2 on each aisle and a pod of 2 or 4 in the middle. They also only seated people in the even numbered rows. I didn’t see a ton of blue, but those that were made some pretty good noise at the end.

I agree that the matchups will be tough both ways. So many intriguing matchups... Mballa vs Wilson, McDay vs Graves (the battle for St. V), VanderPlas vs Hardnett. I have a feeling the team that stays out of foul trouble will be dancing tonight. It should be a fun one.  Hope some of you can make the trip.

  6. Ohio is also ranked 107 right now, giving the MAC East the top 4 and 5 of the top 7.  (Eastern is the other West team ranked in the top 150, but with all the non-D1 games they show a 5-1 record against a SOS of 329.)  Of those top 7, Buffalo has the best SOS at 38, no one else is better than 175.
