Not a ton in the way of stats this past season, but at this point, a post is a post. If what we suspect about Burke's desired style of play is correct, I would assume only one of Johnson, Gaba and Salmons will see the floor at once with what should be a guard heavy, push the pace type of lineup.

Also, it looks like Salmons will have three years of eligibility. We could use at least a few holdovers after this upcoming seasons for continuity sake.

She averaged 4 minutes a game, took a total of 24 shots and her FGM/A = 62.5%. I suspect/hope she'll be an upgrade in the post.

I was donating to the Basketball Excellence Fund. The school did not invest in basketball excellence. I don’t think my funds were restrictive and I don’t think a poor investment is a “speed bump”.

It shouldn't be about the Benjamins. I enjoyed reading this: https://athleticdirectoru.com/articles/why-butler-basketball-holds-the-key-to-organizational-success/

It's been awfully quiet around Coach Jack. Is it a good sign? Is Mark Alnutt at least discussing what would keep her at UB? I appreciate her not bolting ala Oats.

I find it hard to believe that UB will/can offer FLJ the salary and milestone bonuses that SU can afford. Plus there are the intangibles, as other have pointed out, that would be a powerful draw for FLJ to return home. As for the players, I don't see it as FLJ "taking" 1-3 players...in my mind there will be a number of players "wanting to go" with a person who has meant so much to them on and off the court.

This is the problem that the women have agaisnt the top programs.  This game was very similar to the South Carolina and Oklahoma games in the Bahamas.  UB just has problems getting inside against the bigs of these schools.  the other issue is depth.  By the time the fourth quarter comes UB is too exhausted to make plays and shots.  All of a sudden a close game has them down double digits and you did not even see that run coming at UB.

This game busted my bracket as I had UB beating Indiana in the championship game. I did not think that UB could beat Tennessee and Oregon back to back, so I gave UB Belmont in the second round.  That was a nice upset to have had in the bracket.

Agree 100%. Successful low-post play at the highest levels depends not just on height, but height plus FRAME. And depth is definitely a bugaboo for this team - it's not just the lack of scoring, but the ratio of points-to-fouls, critical in the women's NCAA game (but not the men's game...don't get me started) where 5 fouls in a quarter gets your opponent to the line.

As an aside: UB gals played better than many other teams I've seen this week. I'm gonna say that UB could have beaten either Miami or S. Carolina from what I saw yesterday.

What worries me most is if FLJ bolts, home game attendance will plummet.

That would be inevitable, IMHO. The return of fans would depend on who replaces FLJ. Does anyone here have the inside track to the ADs office? I would assume someone there is at least exploring potential replacement coaches, although the pool of quality coaches should expand after the tournament is over.

Ub I would assume isn't one of those schools avoiding it. As now ub should have higher goals of an at large(at least bubble watch team) and getting ranked. Which to achieve you need power conference games to do.

But it definetly makes sense for a lot of schools who really go after a conference title in their respective conferences once every 3 or 4 years

I agree. Besides, until further notice I'm going to assume the new transfer rules will at least approach a "zero sum game", in that power teams will poach mid-major talent but at the same time talented players on the power teams who rarely play will sign on with the mid-majors. Well, that's my hope at least.

Good write up. Love the quotes. Especially Perkins. If our current Bulls have this mentality, there’s no stopping us this season.

Perk says out loud what active players and coaches won't/can't say, but something we all know to be true - “If you look at the MAC, we are the only New York team,” he said. “We’re always going into Ohio, playing against Ohio refs, and Ohio people. They always want the Ohio team to win the MAC, if we are being real. We’re used to that.”
