You have to have enough of New York State to care for that to work and well they don’t. UB couldn’t sell merchandise like now with this current logo. Put that paragraph up against our current even downstate that could care less about UB would choose the current logo. Hate to break it to you with Danny White he didn’t walk on water. They call the Buffalo Sabres gold yellow Jersey a turd burger that is what the UB paragraph New York Bulls logo was. 18 to 22 years old kids don’t want to wear a paragraph it was ridiculous. Regardless of how one feels about New York Bulls or Danny White the paragraph logo represents Danny White pure arrogance and tone deafness let the little people the fans eat cake then the bum runs away for the little people the fans to pick up and fix the damage he caused with wasted spending on that ugly logo. What is sad some very rich UB alums thought it was a great logo just a complete joke in my opinion. UB Horns Up! Go Bulls! Let’s Go Buffalo

I can assure you that UB alums were not included, advised, or had anything to do with Danny White's decision to change the name.  Also, Danny's been gone since 2015, so it's time to move on.

Mostly I think it's the transfer portal. It's also Lance Leipold bolting just a hundred days before kickoff. Maybe Mo Linguist isn't up to the task, but he is owed the same amount of time Lance got. (Lance sucked for the first few years too.)  But the portal may never allow mid-majors to get going because you can't recruit and retain a group of players for more than a season.

This response is spot on.  P5 poaching of a good UB coach with players following Lance to Kansas, plus the transfer portal, makes it difficult to maintain any type of winning momentum.  Lance's first two years were rough, including a 2-10 season his second year, with a loss to Albany. Holy Cross was ranked 10th in FCS when they played Buffalo. With Buffalo still trying to gel as a team, they were ripe for an upset.

IMO, having a consistently winning coach over a long period of time is one key to winning consistently.  Need proof.  Look at Frank Solich's reign at Ohio.  But now with the transfer portal, even that is no longer guaranteed.

No it has not.  The area has 2 baseball teams, two football teams (allegedly), two basketball teams and three hockey teams.  It is not a college sports area.  It will not become a college sports area.  Rutgers, which is 20 minutes from the southern most part of New York City, despite being in the Big 10, is a non-entity on the New York sports scene.  Stony Brook will not take the area as the college team.

Strongly agree.  NYC is a pro sports town.

Today UB was named the co-flagship university within the SUNY System along with Stony Brook.  Both are the only AAU institutions in the system.

Would have preferred being the only one, but this is better than not having the designation.

Agree that UB should be the only flagship....but it's an election year and Hochul needs both LI and WNY.

  5. Hi. Just want to add that Research universities are ranked as R1, "Highest Research Activity", or R2, "Higher Research Activity", by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Learning.  Agree that Ohio U is a large school, but is in a different category of research activity than UB.
