  1. While it would certainly be better to have a win,  As you can see the Bulls held their own against a top 25 team.  The Husker defense that held you to 7, held Oklahoma to less than 24 points for the first time in 5 years and if the offensive line would have made fewer errors and the place kicker wasn't in his head, Nebraska might have won.  I predict another solid season for the Bulls and another bowl game.

  2. I think you are over-reacting to the loss.  Nebraska has a lot of talent that has not played up to their potential.  Last year the defense started putting it together in the last half of the season.  They played about 2/3 of a game against Illinois and about the same against Fordham.  They have not allowed 400 yards against them in 7 games.  That hasn't happened around here in some time.  I think this is going to be a fairly good defense.  The offense needs much better line play and special teams are still anything but.  However, I have not given up on the Huskers yet.  They have the potential to be decent if they will to be.

I was pretty impressed with UB.  They were very physical,  I think the heat got to them a bit.  I expect them to go bowling again.

I did not care for the attempt to score either the touchdown or the field goal at the end of the game.  I though it was unnecessary.  I am glad the were not able to score.  i won't defend it other than to say UB's coach was trying to get his guys to play hard to the end (otherwise why call a time out late when you are down by 25 points.  May Frost is trying to get the same thing from his guys as they have not shown killer instinct much.  Never-the-less. Why try to tack on more.  The long pass was supposed to go to the flat, but the defense allowed the deep threat and I don't blame the 2nd string QB for trying to take advantage.  And in the words of Bobby Bowden, "It's your job to keep the score down, not mine. If you don't like the score, either recruit harder or coach better."

Good luck the rest of the way.  I will always root for the Bulls.

  3. Here are the three possibilities that I see in order of probability:

    1.  The game is close and goes back and forth during the first half with some key mistakes by the Huskers allowing the Bulls to lead at halftime.  However, the heat allows the Husker depth to be a factor in the second half and they pull out a wind, but don't cover.

    2.  The Bulls get up early and the Huskers start to press and lose discipline on defense and make critical errors on offense and the Bulls win.

    3.  All of the talk of the players holding each other accountable and being more disciplined then in years past finally comes to fruition and the Huskers take control and don't look back, winning comfortably.  (this one is probably fantasy, but well, why not fantasize a little.

Good luck to the Bulls (but not too much) Hopefully, everyone stays healthy and we don't see too many fans drop in the heat.

  4. He is on the, "OK, prove it, seat."  A substantial number of fans have lost faith in his ability to deliver.  I don't know that a losing season dooms him, but it could.  Most fans will be ok with another year if they go 6-6 and go to a bowl.  It has gotten that bad.  Five losing seasons in 6 years.  I was not alive when that happened last and I remember as far back as the late 60's.  Some people have begun to wonder if a coach from the imploding Big IIX would consider leaving his new job for a B1G job.  I won't mention any names.  And no I don't mean Campbell.

I really think they are close.  The problem is that the same errors keep happening again and again.

I’m cautiously optimistic about this week. Nebraska is arrogant enough to take us for granted, so that may have play in our favor.

Don't count on that.  What is more likely to turn the tide in favor of the Bulls is the lack of discipline on the part of the Huskers.  Nebraska has the talent to match any team on their schedule from any state not starting with the letter "O."  But, they have a devil of a time getting out of their own way. They have not really shown the ability to play error free ball.  If they play error free, disciplined football, the Bulls may be in for a long fight.  Fortunately for Buffalo, they have not been able to do that more than once per season recently.   Nebraska may win.  It would hardly be a shock, however, if they did not.

  6. Well the tables have certainly turned.  Yes, this game makes many Nebraska fans nervous.  Nebraska has the talent to win, but they have not shown the ability to get out of their own way.  I wonder again why the Bulls would lose a coach to KU where successful mid-major coaches go to ruin their careers.  Now is seems he left for no upgrade in conference standing.

I saw that Nebraska was favored and cannot come up with a good reason why.  Playing a team with a new coaching staff certainly didn't help them.

BTW, Hello PTR.  Long time no post.
