Not sure if anyone mentioned the end of the 1st half clock debacle?  Do they not have a 2 min script and practiced?   Plays took forever to get in, receivers are going in motion changing sides of the field, meanwhile, the clock keeps ticking down.  No urgency whatsoever!  Got zero points going onto the locker room.  Very painful to watch!  😫

    Nope….they don’t have a 2 min script.

I was shocked that everyone didn’t walk out of the game when Ohio went up 10.  I certainly did, and I wasn’t the only one either.  Enough was enough.

there wasn’t going to be some miraculous 10 points scored in 1:50. While I’m sure it would have been quite possible……any body who has watched this season it’s pretty apparent they are incapable of a hurry up offense.

I'm as bigger a homer as anyone, but the rose colored glasses have to come out and a deep autopsy needs to be done. This year was a total failure with a veteran team and quality depth. We have 5 QBs and if this is the best we've got, that needs to be Priority #1 in the portal.

What kills me is going into last night, they literally had nothing to lose sitting at 6 loses already, and that’s the best game plan they could come up with.

They basically played right into Ohio’s hands.  Not once did Ohio have to come off of their own game plan.  All Ohio had to do was just let the game play out because UB wasn’t going to do anything to force the issue.

And the hell of it is, I wouldn’t be shocked if UB goes into Miami next week, and catches them sleeping and wins.  And then finishing with a win against EMU, and then there will be all the chest thumping, saying “how great it was to finish the season at 5-7”

  3. Mo says after the game the offensive game plan was to throw some different looks and wrinkles at Ohio….

Did anybody catch those different looks and wrinkles???

could it have been running two backs in the backfield?  Because, you know, any Defensive Coordinator may have not seen how football was played from 1930-1990.

or maybe having Ogbanna and Snyder switch out every other play.  Maybe Ohio’s Defensive Coordinator wasn’t paying attention to the game tape for the last 3 or 4 weeks and completely missed Ogbanna coming in and running on every single play because there is absolutely no threat of a pass when he comes in.

Paul Peck even lauded MO’s extreme attention to detail……gee, I wonder how many yards they’ll lose next week on allowing punts and kickoffs go unfielded and allowed to skip around the field….because surely if where all over the details, that won’t happen next week.

Or how about playing scared once they got into scoring position.  Literally two drives in the first half ended up with field goals (1 made, 1 missed, of course) because once into scoring position the play calling went to setting themselves up for a field goal, as opposed to actually trying to score a touchdown.  Surely, that showed them, huh Mo???

  4. How Long do we have to put up with this used car salesman as head coach.

he’s all talk, all for the show.  Come game day, the truth comes out.

Might be the reason why he’s jumped from job to job.  People that actually know what there doing can usually see right through the bullshit of somebody who has no clue.

  5. I don’t disagree with a lick of what you’ve written.

Yesterday, I wasn’t feeling quite well, so I took it easy and turned on the Tulane/UCF game just to have some noise in the background trying to sleep, then I heard “UCF is off to the Big 12”, I immediately opened my eyes and said out loud “WTF” which prompted my wife to come in and check on me.

It also occurred to me that there was a slew of G5 conference title games on normal channels through out the day.  The MAC Championship was buried on one of the ESPN’s, early in the day, almost as a second thought.  I’m surprised that they didn’t try to make it a ESPN+ game.

your right, this conference while stable, surely is a ticket to no where.  They absolutely refuse to better them selves, ever.  It’s probably why the are always trying to put their bastion of mediocrity, Ohio, on a pedestal as much as they possibly can.

There are some rumors of a coming upgrade.  37" Sony Triniton.

Well that explains alot......Ill have to let my neighbor know where his TV went that he put out at the curb Wednesday evening before garbage day.  Also explains the weird white van with UB markings that I saw driving around the neighborhood slowly looking at everybodies garbage.

I do not doubt that, hopefully we have some in the wings to step up. You are right on those stats, for some reason it felt worse. I know that during the LL era there seemed to be little faith in our kicking game. Last year with Mo, there seemed to be ultimate faith. In looking at the stats, it was the 40+ that was more of an issue and I guess stuck with me. Prior to this year he was 5-12 40-49 and 2-6 on 50+. This year those are 8-9 and 2-3 respectively which is what really lead to his honor. Not taking anything away from him at all, he had a great career and will likely be missed next year. Kick #1 that I witnessed in person at Maryland was fugly though, which he would readily admit I'm sure. Since then, he has been money.

Not to discredit special teams, but if the only example of "improvement" that is on the tip of peoples tongues is the kicker....and the need to "defend" the kicker.....theres something pretty wrong about that....

You are never getting an elite P5 program to play in Western NY for an OOC game no matter the venue.
could the stadium be better, of course, maybe it is me but I would be just as likely to drive 7 hr to see UB play at the old Rotary field ( it is not there anymore right? But the point is the same) as I would UB stadium or whatever they call the Bills stadium these days. Maybe Vman or rma, who travel to a ton of stadiums are better able to comment but if there is a team you want to see does the venue matter that much? I agree a venue may get you to try a place for teams you do not care about  once but again and again?
the issue is not the stadium but the general lack of interest/culture and a stadium is not going to fix that for more that a few games, IMO.

This is pretty much spot on.....for us diehards.....it really doesnt matter.....

BUT....it would be nice for them to at least address some of the creature comforts not only for us that are there every game, but also make the game day experience a little nicer for those that dont attend all the time.

Concessions are still lacking, heat in the bathrooms (I dont think they turned the heat on in the bathrooms for the Kent game, Im curious to see if its on today)), and of course the scoreboard.....

For any of out-of-towners....the scoreboard IS becoming a joke.  Example 1: they started putting trivia up on the scoreboard during breaks.....you literally cannot read the words, so its just a waste of pixels and time.  Example 2:  The go to "get the crowd involved" game that theyve been using since I started going on 2007, the 3 Hat shuffle/Find the football game, is to the point where the game starts and then about half way through the video freezes.  Example 3:  The few replays they may have, are so unclear and grainy that its just a waste to even look.

What is up with that scoreboard? Is that from the Reagan administration or the Clinton administration?

Its a 19" Zenith Vacuum Tube w/ Chromacolor.  I believe they got it on clearance at Montgomery Wards in the 70s.  It originally was a console TV, but somebody smart was thinking ahead and extracted it from its wooden confines for the sole purpose of using it as our state of the art scoreboard we have today.

Its a little known secret that if you show up late at night at UB Stadium, you can usually find people playing Pong on it.  And if you do catch them there, you'll here them whispering about "upgrades" and something about an "Atari".

I've heard that the refs F-d up on his miss this past Saturday.  They took too long to place the ball.  Once the ball was finally placed, they had a total of 8 seconds to get the play off.  It was all very rushed.

Whaaaaaaat????  MAC Officials incompetent????  Who ever heard of such a thing.......

Another season of what could have been...

I mean theyve gone from 4 wins to 5wins (maybe a sixth), but can anybody honestly say theyve shown ANY improvement on the field over the course of the last two seasons, at all?????  Im having trouble thinking of even one thing.....and thats for players AND the coaches.

3 days later, I still cant believe how badly they handled the overtime coin flip on Saturday....its inexcusable...

  12. 1.  This team is poorly coached.  The epitome is calling offense on the the overtime coin toss, then knowing you made a mistake to turn around and look at your coach charging out onto the field who actually thought that he could change his mind.

     2.  This team is poorly coached.  If you game plan is to continue to run Myers for an entire half (and not even try to pass) and have no inkling that the guys on the other side are going to figure it out eventually.

    3.  This team is poorly coached.  Not only did Kent use their first string QB, they used their 2nd string QB, and eventually ended up being beat by their 3rd string QB.  Defensively that can’t happen.

    4.  Where are the leaders on this team?  Somebody needs to step up and make a play.  I question their heart.

    5.  Akron beat the shit out NIU today.  I fully expect them to come in here and beat the shit out of UB.  I don’t even think UB deserves the shot at a bowl eligibility.  The players look like the could care less, the coaches are clueless, if they actually showed something against Ohio OR CMU OR now Kent, I might feel different, but that’s where I’m at.

  13. Guess nobody wants to talk about this game???……lol

i just want a win.  Get the sixth win finally.  They’ve had three shots here at it, and failed in the last two.  Get it done today.

plus it will make the entire Akron fiasco look less ridiculous, especially if they still are looking for the sixth win.

  14. Im curious how everybody else feels about the prospect of still playing the Akron game.

Now that Detroit is off the table, next would be the 6th win for Bowl eligibility, but its not like UB hasnt had plenty of opportunity to get that done.  Lose in Ohio, Blow the CMU game, now this Kent game Saturday, if they cant win 1 of 3, Im not sure they should even deserve a chance with Akron.  I just think its a bad look all the way around.  and God forbid if the game ends up happening, and Akron wins........

  15. I always felt this game was a long shot to begin with of the three Ohio had left to possibly lose.  Yet another home MACtion game for Ohio were the visitor looks like absolute crap and forgot how to play football.  Even with a flash of life.....that place manages to just suck it right back out again.

UB Bulls football team is a joke St Bonaventure Bonnies basketball in the Southtowns of Western New York in a snow belt played Bowling Green Falcons in basketball in Olean today and won. UB needs to stop the New York State politics grandstanding about weather in Amherst that wasn’t that bad if the Bonnies can play UB should have played. Again if UB wanted no fans at UB Stadium fine the game was supposed to be played on CBS Sport Network Western New York would have liked to watch the football game to get our mind off the snow storm. Missed opportunity as always with UB Bulls football. I watched today Niagara Purple Eagles in Dublin, Ireland, St Bonaventure Bonnies at home Reilly Center, UB Bulls basketball at the Virgin Islands and then the Buffalo Sabres at night in Toronto in my opinion. UB Horns Up! Go Bulls! Let’s Go Buffalo

You know…..I have always let you say your piece, and have at times stuck up for you when others make your posts the brunt of their jokes.  You have your opinions and you’re entitled to them, and God knows UB needs as many passionate fans as it can get…….:

BUT……take this with all the respect it can muster……this take is way off base.

I’m 99% sure that UB had absolutely no say in whether this game was going to be played this week.  I can guarantee you the writing was on the wall when Akron Equipment truck was within a half hour of here and was told to turn around, on Thursday.

and that didn’t stop people at UB from trying to keep the game on by keeping the field cleaned off and continuing to prepare for the game as if it was still going to be played.  And I can also guarantee you that people would have been out there today, clearing snow to have the field ready for today.

IMHO, the last entity to take any blame in this is UB.

  17. I’ve been putzing around on the Akron Message board today.  Scuttlebutt is the equipment truck came up yesterday, but was then told to go back. Which they did.

don’t know how true that is…..and supposedly there’s a conference meeting in the morning to figure out what to do.

again….don’t know how true any of this is….but what the hell??

After head to head record, it goes to division record, not vs individual teams.  In order for the three way tie at 6-2 to be a reality, Buffalo would be 4-1 against the MAC East while Ohio and BG would be 3-2, giving the three way tie to the Bulls.

I’m curious if there’s an explanation for it somewhere?

Here’s the only “official” thing that readily available.

    2. Record of tied teams within the division [versus rank order, highest to lowest, of division teams]

The part in the brackets is what confuses it and gives us pause against just saying Division Record.

The other part of it is whether they include the MAC West Crossover games in that “division record”.  They used to not matter, but then they changed it.  I personally don’t read it that way, but you never know how to MAC intends it.
