It is actually a 20% increase.

    Last year $20.83 per game.

    This year $25.00 per game.

I knew this was going to happen.  Perfect opportunity with only the 5 home games to sneakily get in a ticket increase while "holding" the previous level.

Next year it will be $150 or more for season tickets when its back to the full 6 games.  When its renewal time next year, they can conceivably claim that there wasnt an increase last year, conveniently ignoring the game disparity.

  2. Well.....I was going to let this lie...because this nice recognition for Lance, and it is, make no mistake about it...However, this was based almost entirely on his time and accomplishments at Whitewater than UB...

BUT...now Ive received an email this morning from the Blue and White fund, referring to this list, panhandling for donations....$78 donation gets you entered into a contest to have lunch with Lance at Santora's...so it begs the question, are we trying to inflate his UB accomplishments more than what they actually are and at the same time open the door for Lance to conceivably ask for a "new" contract.

I like Lance, he's been good for UB, but I also think theres a  lot of room for his own improvement.  I just dont want to get lost in looking at what he's accomplished so far and rewarding things that 1. didnt even happen here or 2. as I said, rewarding for inflated accomplishments because of "how it used to be" at UB....

Lance has gotten UB three straight Bowl eligible seasons and a MAC East title....great....you know who else has made a living getting teams bowl eligible year in year out, and MAC Easts with out ever getting beyond that...Frank Solich....Go find him on this list....(hint: he isnt)

  3. So is there a Khalil Mack Scoreboard on lay-away some where he's willing to pay off too??

oR can Mark Alnutt write a letter to Santa asking for a new scoreboard that some how gets lost in the mail and ends up in Ledarius Mack's luggage to the Bahamas and somehow gets placed in Khalil's stocking on Christmas Eve??  I mean, whats the Elf on the Shelf for really if not this....

Isn't it the thought  that counts?

Yes....when you actually put some thought into it.

its like my sister who gives us Texas Roadhouse gift cards for Christmas knowing full well that my son, her nephew, his deathly allergic to peanuts,

if you didn’t know, Texas Roadhouse is one of those places that give you a basket full of peanuts for the table that you shell and just throw on the floor.

so yea, the gesture is nice and well intentioned, but there’s no thought in it

I hope they may have been just trying to give the tickets to an old-timer who actually knew him.

Then just do that instead of doing a twitter trivia contest...see how easy that is.

And honestly, The first people that came to mind who deserved to win were the old timers that sat around me before we got dislodged from those seats.  I’ve been going for 13 seasons now, but some of those people has been a lot longer than that.

See the post from BRJCAR75 from yesterday at 10:33 that has a mention to a Spectrum article from 9-15-78 that has him transferring from Indiana.

I know what I wrote.  The Spectrum has him transferring from both Buff State AND Indiana literally 7 days apart in two different editions.  So would you not agree theres a conflict there with the information from the Spectrum?

Plus, again, Ive provided enough evidence placing Gary at Buff State at least in 1977

Again...Im just trying to find out how Indiana figures into this if theres no record (other than a conflicting source, the Spectrum) of Gary being at Indiana.

The reason why this matters to me, is I would HOPE, that UB, in doing a Trivia contest for special seating would make it possible for everybody to have an equal shot at winning, not just those who personally knew the guy or was given the answer by somebody who knew it.  Ive researched this for three days in a row now, and there isnt anything readily available (other than the spectrum article, which is conflicted) for somebody to give an answer of "Indiana" without flat out guessing.   So from the outside in, this contest looks like it was designed for only a certain few to be able to win.

So Brook, this still doesnt add up.  Thats Gary running track there, thats Gary's mention in the write up.  Again, directly from the Buff State year book dated 1978.

This picture tells us he ran track at Buff State in 1977 at least, we know he was at UB from 1978 - 1980 according to the Media Guide (I actually have an old media guide with his picture (same guy above) in the UB Letterman for Q.  If you need proof, flip through the 2012 UB Media Guide online, its easy to find.

Im not doubting he was at Indiana, I just having trouble reconciling that with the provided documentation Ive been able to find and the data and timing doesnt add up.

So as it stands, the timeline of Gary

Spring 1976 - Graduated from Cardinal Dougherty High School in Buffalo

Spring 1977 - On Buff States Track team

Fall 1977-Spring1978 - ???????? Ive yet to find anything mentioning Gary Quatrani at Indiana University Track and/or Football, which includes Indiana Arbutus Yearbooks, Indiana Football records, rosters, team photos.   I just want to find something to make this answer make sense

Fall 1978 - Playing Football at UB

Everyone who was with the team then knows of him coming home from Indiana, without a stop at Buff State.  He was at Indiana on a track scholarship to play football.  The 90+ scholarship limit was still not enough in the 1970s, so they would give scholarships to WR to run track but hey would also play football.

He came back home because his personality did not fit in well with the Indiana football team.  His coach for football was, not so fast my friend, Lee Corso.  may be he ran to fast for Corso.

By the way, if anyone on the current staff of the Spectrum reads this PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE look at the old Spectrums and try to get close to what it used to be.

From being there with him.  He transferred home from Indiana and end up at UB.  There never was any mention of him being at Buff State.

Thats not true and I was actually hoping for more of the story because If the only way to actually get the answer correctly is to actually know the guy, some regular joe had no hopes of winning beyond guessing.

Follow the two links I provided.

One is a Spectrum article referring to him transferring from Buff State (Later, RMA found a spectrum article referring to Indiana as well 9/15/78 page 25)  So theres conflict there with the information.

Plus the second link is a posted Buff State Yearbook from 1978 referring to Gary running Track there in 1977 & 1978.

So whats the deal??  Did he run track for Buffalo State, then got kicked out/transferred to Indiana then got kicked out/transferred to UB all in a course of, what 3 semesters (spring 1977-Fall 1978), possibly even 1 (spring 1978-fall 1978).  Something doesnt add up....

Now that there has been a winner over on Twitter see if you can get the answer to the first question that I submitted for the contest.

What Bowling Green athlete was on the NBA top 50 players of the first 50 years and what athlete won gold at the 1972 Olympics?

So is there searchable proof that Quatrani was at Indiana?

And the story behind this answer, please.,.

because from Buff State to Indiana to UB makes little sense...

The Spectrum was wrong.  He transferred to UB after having issues at his prior school where he was on a track scholarship to play WR.

So its not Buffalo State then??

I have no intention of winning (Twitter is stupid), but Im enjoying the research.

So the only way its not Buffalo State LINKY, he was on the Buffalo State Track Team as of Spring 1978.  That would mean he would have to have transferred from Buffalo State to another school then to UB., all from spring 1978 to Fall (August 1978).

  12. 50 Yard Line seats???  Gee, I remember when I had 50 yard line seats...then I had to move for some reason....

No, I dont think so, I prefer my regular folks over the cake eaters.  Maybe the guy that doesnt like when I yell will win.  That way I can spare myself of having to try to solve his crossword puzzle over his shoulder.

Clodney and I are enroute.  BJR, ver, chubbs, PM me (if that's still a feature?) for my cell.  Would like to meet up at some point, but plans for tmr are unclear atm.

Also working on a special MAC CHAMPIONSHIP edition of a new Two Minutes Hate on the plane.  Should be ready soon.

I cant figure out the new message system....

V-man and I and others are going to be at Detroit Beer Co., 1529 Broadway St , probably 3-3:30ish, at least thats what we are shooting for.  There will be others as well, plus the gentleman at Detroit Beer Co. is fully aware to expect UB fans showing up tomorrow....
