Oh yeah, Canisius is seeing real growth in their program. They are the big time now!

Why else would the blogger be spamming the Canisius forum too, right?

You know that part of the job is to get people to read you, right? Think of the writer as an entrepreneur. Not sure why you're being so weird about this

With that said, I apologize for taking over this conversation and making it about myself. I enjoyed the previous input and agree with many of the above comments.

It might never happen but I'd love to see a day when Buffalonians start appreciating the local basketball scene on a more consistent basis. It's been fun watching people jump on the UB bandwagon and it would be nice to see more people watching all of the local schools.

Don't be so easily dissuaded! Those who can't create often fall back on critique. And there will always be people on fan boards who are suspicious of media coming onto the site. But most of us here crave more UB coverage, and we'll take it whenever we can.

In short: keep up the coverage, and you're welcome here any time. (I admire that you aren't masking your ID. I'll be at the Jan. 12 game, and will buy you a beer (or pop) if you'd like.)

You're pretty much the only one who hasn't noticed this.

I think Bona has pretended to be in another class than us for a long time (they were right until Hurley showed up) and so they don't necessarily go crazy over wins.

Canisius just doesn't have the fan base, and so I don't tend to see them gloating anywhere online. (They won two years ago, right?)

Actually it's a lot of fun and should be played up more. I saw Canisius had a sign for this specific rivalry and called it the Battle for Main St. The schools could do even more to hype it up. For example, have the UB team take the subway from the South Campus to the game (similar to how the Mets went to one of their subway series at the Yankees). The city could hold a train just for UB and deck it out in colors, etc...The next year when Canisius come to UB, do the same and then take the bus from the South Campus to Alumni Arena.

I love this idea. Too bad Canisius plays in a high school gym. Even got bashed on SC top 10. It's not like Fordham's Rose Hill Gym, which is at least historic.

  5. Here's what Reggie could easily have said:

"Every team wants to take down a ranked team, period.  They will see everyone's best this year. We made too many mistakes tonight, but it was a good test against a good team."

He got all awkward and dodgy.

It is a rivalry. I'd rather lose two games in league play than one game to Bonnies or Canisius.

They sold out their arena, and they are playing bad BBall.

Reggie is a good man, but he is not perfect. He didn't handle this well. Period.

Interesting response by Goodman. Either way, I stand by my shooting remark. As amazing a night this is to have a win over a top-15 team, I honestly think we could've won easily in regular time had we just figured out a way to hit a few wide open 3's. We were 3-22 from 3 at the time of that post.

Who cares though! Amaazing win tonight. I love this team! I woke my 16 month old screaming at the television here in Maine! These guys are all creating history for all of us.

    Cheers, UBrothers!

Where are you in Maine? We are in Lincolnville every summer.

Caruthers has significantly improved his athleticism, and can dunk with ease now. He looks primed to pick up a lot of the production lost from Clark.  Segu looked like the best newcomer by far. Williams was surprisingly unimpactful being used as a spot up shooter that wasn't making shots. Fagan got the least mins of a scholarship player and looked lost when he was out there. Not gonna look into 1 game too much but i was hoping to see more from them in an exhibition.

Williams had good hands on D and Fagan is long and a big body. They both will need a few games to get used to playing with D1 talent. They are used to being the best player on the court.  Now they are the 7th or 8th or 9th best players on the court. We will see how they develop.

    Williams is close.

Segu is plug and play. He’s ready to go.
