That’s pretty pathetic man. We get it, you have a personal problem with Kevin. stop taking it out on everyone on here. It makes you seem desperate and fragile.

In fact your whole attitude on here towards anyone with a different opinion is arrogant and rude. Maybe exile yourself back to Bull Run if you don’t know how to get along with others

FFS man, get your nose out of Kevins rear long enough to see I was not digging at him there.

I was saying, quite clearly, that the Comm dept was holding access over him and I've said other places they should't be doing that over this post.

You're really going to use this as another opportunity to stir the pot between the two of you as well? Let it go...

Not stirring the pot Jesph, I said above I would not blame him either way, sorry if you missed that.

Hell I even defended his post against the reaction: I think it was a shaq take, but not so awful or disrespectful that UB communications should have weighed in, in any capacity.

But since I seem to be a bad influence here in your opinion I'll just go away.

Got it.  You call them the team the New York Bulls and think it was a huge success.

Got it. Everything about the output of the department got better and many of his changes are still in place but because the words "New York" offended your provincial sensitivities danny white was a hack amateur.

Ha ha ha you're still defending it?

    The results speak for themselves...

Did White extend a personal favor to you that makes you feel loyal to him?

Did White once take a shaq on your lawn so you feel the need to run him down?

You know, you don't have to defend the failure to be supportive of the man, right?

In what way was UB's athletic department worse off after White than before. I've already said the marketing of the whole thing was not good, but what NYBI was, under the hood, was very successful and you can't point to a single program in the department that was not better at the end of his tenure.

He has moved on and is doing very well after learning from his mistakes in Buffalo.

Mistakes.... More MAC Championships, more winning, uptick in donations, uptick in attendance and ticket sales, uptick in media penetration. These are objective tangible things. You're pointing at the word "initiative"

The NYBI was a complete and utter failure.  White was too prideful to admit it but he knows it wasted a ton of money and didn't get any of the results it was suppose to get.  It alienated people.  It is why at his new job he changed his whole marketing strategy to be a complete 360 and marketed UCF as the local hometown team and pushed the local city only.  Something that would have been much more beneficial for UB.

You Market UCF as the "home town team" for a few reasons..

1 - It's not the highest level of athletics by a state school in Florida. HE's never going to get any buy in on "we're floridas team" when you have *FLORIDA* AND *FLORIDA STATE* in objectivly better conferences with real history. In NY you don't have that problem. UB as a state school is at the highest level and with far more history than any other institution. we *ARE* the leaders and our only competition for that mantle is a large private school and a military academy. Everyone else in the state has no FBS football, let alone *better* football.

2 - Orlando is significantly larger than Buffalo. The metro area is twice the population of Buffalo NY so you're fishing in a bigger pond

    --

The NYBI logo and some of the sales pitch could have been better but the program as a whole undoubetly advanced the department and we are reaping the benefit of that time. Attendance went up, donations went up, performance went up. Our profile raised more under white than it did under Warde or than it has since White.

Warde did a great job laying groundwork, it was not sexy but it was critical. He handed White a healthy Athletic department white handed off an even better one.

As to the "it alienated people" I lay that at the feet of Bucky and Sully who spent years harping on uniform patches and slogans when they could have been introducing the people of Buffalo to Khalil Mack.

Fleck to Ole Miss, Leipold to Minnesota? Though he’d be giving up his Wisconsin card the second the plane touches down at MSP.

Flecks not bailing on MN for Ole Miss, he just sighed a hgue contract up here. Ole Miss might be able to bump him a little bit but not by enough to warrant the move.

Roster changes happen and there are “growing pains” with a new coach but we now have 4 inexplicable, losses. There is NO excuse to get blown out by a MAC opponent after the 5 years of growth in this program.

There are "Roster changes" and then there is losing 5 of your top 6 players. While everyone is talking up that the players remaining have been with us for some time that's not true for two of the starters who are both first year transfers.

I'm a bit concerned at this point, but I think being "on a ledge" is reactionary

Wow that's a really bad look. If I was there with my family, I would be embarrassed to watch the AD kick out the media.

One time we took a satirical look at Bobby Hurleys anger issues and got a call from someone in the department. After talking it over with the other guys I pulled it becuase it was just mean. But we replaced it with a straight analysis of the problem.

It's a hard call, I'm not going to fault Kevin for pulling it.

I know you hate that guy so that's good for u.

I follow that dude on Twitter for the Bills but liked his UB stuff, I thought this thread had a negative sense to it, but nothing close to needing to be removed, IMO.

I agree... I think it was a shaq take, but not so awful or disrespectful that UB communications should have weighed in, in any capacity.

Just cause I don't much like him does not mean I think he should be bullied out of his stated opinion.

But I'd be lying if I said I didn't *slightly* enjoy him trying to say all I do lavish praise on UB in the very same discussion thread that he would later pull at the behest of the department.

Wait what? Did they take this down?

I was trying to reference one of these Ken-Pom numbers in a discussion I was having with someone on campus and the thread is gone?

That's a weak job to neuter a discussion!

I don't think UB's media department has admin rights so Kevin took it down.

Which is ironic since some here have implied Bull Run is some sort of lapdog.

The problem with this is schedule rotation.  The only cross division game that may be played every year is Bowling Green - Toledo because of geography.  All other cross division games are on a rotation basis so that everybody plays everybody home and away with in a certain time frame.

Point 1: The BG / Toledo game is not played every year because geography, it's played every year because it's BG/Toledo. Buffalo is closer to EMU than Miami or Ohio, it's about on par with our distance BG.

So let's throw "geography" out the window here, thats a complete red herring.

Point 2: There is already one cross over division game set per year and both participants "Bowling Green and Toledo" still play a rotation on all the other games. We played 6 games in the east for years while Temple (and then UMass)  was in the MAC. There is no reason one "set west" game would keep the MAC from using UB's other two West division games per year from rotating through.

With an annual game vs EMU

In this scenario since we play EMU every year, we could do a full West rotation (home and road) every five seasons

    Y1: @CMU vs WMU

    Y2: @ NIU vs BSU

    Y3: @ TOL vs CMU

    Y4: @WMU vs NIU

    Y5:  @BSU vs TOL

    Without EMU every year

To do the full rotation without a set EMU and three West games we would need four seasons even

Y1 @EMU vs WMU vs CMU

Y2 @NIU vs BSU vs TOL

    Y3 vs EMU @WMU @CMU

    Y4 vs NIU @BSU @TOL

    ===

You're talking about, in a decade, a difference of *1* game against five teams in the west. BG and Toledo have been doing this for years, and it's not hurt the MAC a bit.

    With EMU Game

    EMU - 10 game

    REST - 4 games

    Without EMU Game

    vs ALL - 5 games

    ---

This is not schedule breaking stuff that would hurt UB or the MAC. But it *COULD* at least start to better bring UB into the MAC culture.

  12. I don't think a rivalry can be "stirred up" as such. The good ones happen organically and when the two teams have some common thread other than "they are rivals". The best place for us to start is in Conference

I think the MAC needs to do a couple of things to help out

1 - Have a set rivalry week at the end of October, before MACtion... We would get one of the Michigan schools (* - Cross division)

    • Kent - Akron
    • Toledo - Bowling Green *
    • Buffalo - EMU *
    • NIU - Ball State
    • Miami - Ohio
    • WMU - CMU

This way we maximize the chance that students and fans can participate by having the games on a Saturday afternoon, before it's too crappy weather wise, and in somewhat geographically compact / historical pairings.

2 - Each of those games is a trophy game, for the pairings without one the schools or fan bases should suggest one and the conference should commission it

    --

Out of conference, if Buffalo want's to do something, it's going to need to be regional and start with an annual 2:2 or 3:3 series. So Temple, UMass, UConn are the options. I'd rather it not be UMass, but they *could work*. UConn has better proximity to UB and NYC, has more name pull, and they are going to be just as deserpate for OOC games in the near future.

Temple would be ideal, I feel like a lot of the emotion is already there, but I don't think they want to tie up 25% of their OOC games for the next 4-6 years.

From a neutral opinion on this, I never see you commenting on here at all unless it’s to respond to Kevin. Your responses also always start an argument which then devolves into middle school pissing matches. Nobody cares about you banning anyone from a website or who you block on social media. This whole forum is intended to be used to talk about UB athletics, not starting arguments with someone you have a personal issue with.

I posted several links on this thread to counter that. You "not seeing something" is not the same as that something not existing. All it proves is you don't know what you're talking about, neutral person or not.

It's like when some silly poster said "do you do anything but x" when I am one of the historically most frequent posters on UBfan.

And Kevin's kind of the guy who injected the whole "who banned/b locked who things"...

He had a crap take and got called out by just about everyone here, his focus on me is telling.

Basically Hodgson was playing both sides when Oats left. when he didn't get the job her reportedly was warning off recruits.

Aww that's cute, you think you live rent free in my head when I kicked you off of bull run as an editor, then as a commentor, then blocked you on twitter when you started to attack our content.

You're going to ignore me now?

oh please don't throw me in that brier patch.

Full clown mode is having a discussion about the current head coach of the team after a bad opening home MAC loss?

Yeah, makes sense. Completely on brand for UBPositiveOnlyRun.com

No full clown mode is basing that opinion on the belief Loyola was a good basketball school before Whitesell and he somehow failed terribly there. Going back and editing it after getting called out does not cancel out just want a wrong take you had. I was not the first to call you on it here.

You have a history of this, and it appears you're one of those guys who don't learn from your mistakes. I'm more than able to admit when I don't know something.

Is that supposed to be some kind of a sick burn? you sound more like Bucky and Sully every day. Quick, now put up a quip about blue tinted glasses and pom-poms..

That being said, get over yourself, Where was I going after you in the following threads.

My point is that a thread was made about Whitesell's job so far this year.

My take is that it was about Whitesell not being the right guy period and having a lackluster history at his past job... But maybe I read him wrong.

Jeseph, I'm not personally attacking the guy... Pointing out that there is a history of some people jumping all over a coaching staff, that's all. If he's gonna come in here and rant that Whitesell is not the guy surely saying "well you've said that before"
