    Disregard earlier note about 3-seed.

Just discussed another possibility. If Ohio wins and Akron loses, UB should get the 3-seed with Ohio at 2, Kent State at 4 and Akron at 5.

    That's better. That's what I thought.

UB win + Akron OR Ohio lose

This isn’t official but sounds like the 3-seed is no longer in play.

From what I’m hearing, it looks like UB can be the 2-seed with a win and Ohio loss

They should be the 4-seed with a win, Ohio win and Akron loss.

Everything else results in a 5-seed.

Total cluster by the MAC on this. Hearing that schools don't even know where they stand heading into the final games.

I'm super unsure how they could have been the 3 going into the Toledo game, but not have the chance to be the three again with an Ohio or Akron loss.

If they aren’t going to reschedule games (which for us they can easily do) then seeding should be determined by win percentage. It is mind blowing why the mac decided to make this confusing and unfair change. But whatever…I think we all deep inside knew we were destined for the 4/5 game/route.

The good thing is that in the up and down tiebreaker situation, they'd still be the #3 seed, it still benefits them over winning %. Who unfairly got a shake at the #2 seed is Akron, who luckily doesn't have a tiebreaker on anyone, but UB.

I don’t know exactly that’s what’s going on 100% but the no contest rules have made this more complicated than necessary. They should’ve stayed with winning percentage. Would’ve been unfair to UB but much simpler solution or they could’ve tried harder to reschedule the CMU game. They had the entire conference schedule to do so. I understand worries about fatigue and lack of availability but this is a mess right now.

CMU needs the game as well, Mike. I always said that game should be played Sunday (4 days before Cleveland). If they don't care about their seeding, they can play backup/reserves. if they do, they can go all out to clinch the 2 or 3 seed.

Ub is 13-5, akron is 13-6. I thought they were basing seeding on number of losses?

    Both. It's a no contest.

Meaning in standings wise, you can be tied in the wins or losses column and that will tie you overall.

The MAC wasn't expecting someone to have the potential to be tied in BOTH columns. If UB loses, they are the 5 confirmed. If they win, they are double tied. Meaning that they will be tied with Ohio/Kent for the 2/3 as well as Akron for the 4/5. From the looks of the current standings, the MAC lumped all the teams together (which is a huge advantage for Akron who has is a game behind Ohio).

Are we confirmed that UB gets the 3 seed with a win on Friday? (Assuming an ohio win, 2 seed with an Ohio loss). Ohio has the 3 way tiebreak (with a win on friday) 2-1 record, UB 2-1 record, kent 1-3 record, but ohio grabs the head to head to jump over UB. Sound about right?

That's not confirmed. UB dropped to the 5 seed today. Now after the loss, UB is joined by Akron. They will actually be tied if they beat Kent and Akron beats CMU. Akron has the tiebreaker. Even UB doesn't know if the 3 is achievable any longer.

I disagree with calling the defense bad. Toledo has guys making fade-away jumpers. They are indefensible. Toledo is making them. It doesn’t mean the defense is bad.

They neglected to get back on defense about 6 times. I think we are watching different games.

Also…once you’re in your senior year I think we can stop talking about recruiting stars. Coming into this year we all knew what this team was. We were just hoping it would all click.

Yes sir. I think stars are a freshman year thing to rank how good your class is.

I don’t understand how this is correct. What is the tie breaker or COVID rule regarding playing less games? I thought it went by win %. Which would have Kent ahead of us.

They are not punishing UB for not playing that game. Per the team, if they were tied in the win column, they wouldn't be ahead though either.

I saw that someone from WMU is beating the drum for campus play in games again. If that happens, getting 1 or 2 will become critical again. I’m not really in favor of that personally. If you aren’t in the top 8 after 20 games, sorry, try again next year.

1-4 get the bye. Not just 1-2. So in theory, this 4 seed would be huge over the 5 seed.

Kind of ironic how the same team that blew two golden opportunities to help the Bulls’ seeding prospects, is the one game on UB’s schedule that won’t get to be played which could potentially affect our chances to move up into the top 3.

Even with those 2 losses and their 300-whatever NET ranking, CMU looks pretty safe to make it to Cleveland. Watch them go and take down Toledo or Ohio in the 1st round and really shake things up. Anything is possible in the MAC!

The MAC has awarded UB a "win" against CMU and consider them tied with Ohio and Kent. That's a huge advantage for the team.
