  1. LMFAO

    "Come on. the only people who think this is a rivalry are people from Buffalo. Reasons this is not a rivalry:

    1. SBU is 10-2 against SUNY Buffalo. Not only do we have a significant edge, but we have only played them 12 times. We have played Niagara and Canisius over 100 times.
    2. UB has no fan base. Yes, they will be there now when the team is ranked, but how about when things get a little tough? Even last year in their "glory run" there were as many Bona fans in Alumni Morgue as there was UB fans.
    3. We are in the Atlantic 10 they are in the MAC. Our rivals are St. Joe's, Dayton, Duquesne, VCU etc. They are in a league that does not compare to the A-10. They hate to hear this, but it is true. Just as we can't compare to the Big East the MAC does not compare to the A-10.
    4. They have no sustained success. They have been good for four years. Oats will leave and this will end."

  2. I eat those delicious red osier beef sandwiches combo meal for like $9 with no line. Plus with beer now, the concessions are “improving” . I’ve been to 100s of games and literally never have had to wait. Grab something pregame,  not the only 10 minutes it’s busy at half. The upstairs concessions literally never have anyone in line.

  3. He's a machine. I think he'd be the next Harris on this team.

    I'd anticipate a lineup like:

    Devonta Jordan

    Jayvon Graves

    Quenton Jackson (Antwain Johnson if Jackson doesn't commit)

    Jeenathan Williams

    Andre Allen (tearing up the JuCo ranks)

    The team would be looking for spots for Segu, Grant, Fagan, Rojas, Johnson, Cadwell, Bertram

    Lemoyne is a better than a lot of bottom D1 teams.  Massey ratings has them ranked higher than the likes of Norfolk State, Monmouth, and Binghamton.

    Would we expect people not to show up for those teams?  Either people are going to just show up because Buffalo is ranked and winning, or we need to start scheduling home games that matter.

    This will be the test.  If winning alone will draw fans then expect a sell out.

    Do we know if they are better than Daemen?

    1) 2 road buy games:
    Revenue =170k (85k x 2 games)
    Expense = 70k (35k x 2 games)
    Profit = 100k

    2) 1 road buy game + 1 home game
    Revenue = 85k+X (85k x 1 game, X = typical AA home game revenue)
    Expense = 45k+Y (35k travel +10k to bring in D1 team, Y = typical cost of AA home game)
    Profit = 40k + X - Y

    3) Home and Home
    Revenue = X + B (B = additional revenue for AA big game)
    Expense = 35k + Y + G (35k travel, G = additional cost of AA Big Game)
    Profit = -35k + X + B - Y - G

    Just making up numbers here:

    but if we make $20/ fan, it costs 15k fixed to play a game at AA and variable costs are $5/fan...and a typical AA game is 3k fans, with a big game being 6k fans...

    1) = 100k

    2) = (40k + 60k) - (45k + 30k) = 25k

    3) = 120k - (35k + 75k) = 10k

    This. It's so frustrating. From 2004-2008 when I was a student, I would have watched them play an intramural team if we were ranked #17.

    Have some pride in your team(s)... Even if you don't, no matter who we are playing ONE OF THE TEAMS IS TOP 20 IN THE COUNTRY (it just so happens to be us).

    Exactly.

    I had to sit through some really bad Reggie teams. I think I might have had one year with a converted SF playing PG that the team was watchable, maybe one of those UCONN/PIT Games. But AA's power was on display during a packed house against a #2 team. We were pretty average ourselves.

    If the fans/students came out every game like we used to, we'd never lose another game.

    The fact is now they are just choosing to pick some ESPN MAC games at the back end of the schedule.

    I am not sure that games against SIU, Murray State, etc that you have mentioned would really get the public and students excited. They still don't know those programs (students and general public alike) Students don't even know what conference we are in. Playing Power 5's away helps. Here is a general conversation I have had with people that know nothing about Buffalo men's basketball:

    Me: "You watching the game tonight?"

    Person: "I don't know. Who are they playing?"

    Me: "Syracuse!"

    Person: "Really? I didn't think Buffalo plays Syracuse. Cuse will probably crush them."

    Games against high mid majors doesn't necessarily help us from public/student attendance angle. (In my opinion)

    Exactly.

    Being the official UB ambassador in ROC and having a slight Twitter following, I try to push UB all the time. But that is literally a conversation I have once a day.

    I think people are finally realizing that UB is a top 20 program and have some legit talent. Although many people (my wife included) only know us for CJ Massinburg, and MAYBE Nate Oats.

    The amount of UB is "overperforming" comments I get are kind of baffling. The support for Syracuse being 2+ hours away is annoying.

    I, however, don't see the benefit to a home/home. The public doesn't even know who SIU is. I'd however gladly entertain this against a high mid-major. The top half of A-10, Conf USA, Big East, WCC, American, Big East, or Mountain West.

    The public wants to see a team that is/was in the tournament previously.

  8. Students are gone and literally don’t decide to care until February. I normally see the place the most packed on a random Friday against Bowing Green.

    also it’s very well on record that teams will not come to AA. A lot of mid majors want to be paid, and the big schools have no benefit to play here. They had to make that weird deal with SIU to even get a decent team in the doors.
