  1. Did not want to create a new thread. This is scheduling question for 2025. We will have to move a few games and curious about your thoughts as you now need a game.

Posted this on the UMassHoops.com Football board.

Realize the administration will do what the deem best, but someone on the MAC board posted 2025 schedule question.

    08/30 - Temple
    09/06 - at Boston College
    09/27 - Troy
    10/18 - at Missouri
    11/01 - at Liberty
    11/15 - at Iowa
    11/22 - at Army
    11/29 - at UConn

Liberty and Army are probably gone. Now I'm torn with Boston College. Like playing them but strongly dislike their attitude. We are having a home and home with an SEC team. Boston College is in the ACC, which is a full level down in CFP playoffs. Hope in the next 1 or 2 we have a stadium upgrade proposal pass. Then would like to see a 3 game series, home (ON friggin' campus BC!) , away at BC, and neutral site Gillette. With this attitude, like to push out the BOSTON College game, keep the 2 home OOC games, keep the money game Iowa, and UConn. We still will not have an FCS game thou and hope we can push out the Missouri game. I'm not you guys, but as long as we have Boston College or UConn on the schedule every year, then it is a big bonus to have on an occasion both.

We may need to bump out the Iowa game because of MACtion weekday games and Missouri not wanting to move the game.

  2. "Two Amhersts? UMass, Buffalo eyeing potential rivalry in MAC". March 19th article and the last part of the article, talking about how to make it formal.

    They say yes.

With UMass’s entrance into the Mid-American Conference for the 2025-26 academic year, the Minutemen are going to need some new rivals. And the athletic directors at UMass and Buffalo are already working on it.

Buffalo’s North campus, which contains its academic core and athletic facilities, isn’t actually in the city of Buffalo itself. It’s in a neighboring suburb, Amherst. And though the two Amhersts are a shade under 400 miles and six hours apart, Buffalo represents UMass’ closest geographic rival in the MAC.

“I think there’s some awesome, magical things that could happen with that,” UMass athletic director Ryan Bamford said after the MAC entrance press conference earlier this month. “Obviously we’re both Amherst and flagship state universities and all those things. We’ve talked already about potentially getting our governors involved. We both have two female governors who both like athletics.”

In an interview with The Buffalo News on March 1, Buffalo athletic director Mark Alnutt proposed an “Amherst trophy” the two schools could compete over.

“I think it would be a great rival of ours, too,” Alnutt told The Buffalo News. “When you look at the MAC, you look at schools that have those natural rivalries, like Akron-Kent State, the Michigans, all three together, Bowling Green-Toledo and Miami (Ohio)-Ohio.”
    ...
Bamford has already had preliminary discussions with Alnutt about the future of their rivalry, and said they’d like to create a trophy, whether formally or informally, within the next year.

Alnutt’s son Mason, a football recruit in the class of 2025, will be taking college visits over the next several months. Bamford said when Alnutt travels to the area, they’re planning on connecting and hashing out what a rivalry between the two Amhersts might look like.

“I think that would be kind of fun, for us to go in and already have an established (trophy),” Bamford said. “Whether it’s a cup, or some design.”

Wow you are a dreamer hope springs eternal. UMass football needs a lot of investment to get where UB Bulls are now. UMass football is like UB Bulls in 1999. Eventually UMass football will get there but a lot more investment needs to be made to the UMass football program. That doesn’t mean UMass football can’t pull the upset just that it is going to take a while in the MAC. UB Bulls have one MAC championship in football since 1999 in my opinion. UB Horns Up! Go Bulls! Let’s Go Buffalo

Idk, Our Performance Center and Hunt Hospitality Suite is much better than UB. Though a bubble, our IPF is fine. Do you have that stuff in 1999. Sure you did not have a strong Football collective with a health budget. We'll see how we do in September. We invested 34.5M in 2012 and 18 M in 2019 and more will happen.

  4. UMass may get a few back

INJURIES – UMass had nine inactive players Saturday against Liberty: running backs Ellis Merriweather and Tim Baldwin, starting receivers Cam Sullivan-Brown, Rico Arnold and longtime receiver Jermaine Johnson, starting tackle Max Longman, defensive lineman Devin Baldwin, defensive back Te’Rei Powell and fullback Charles Payson.

  5. There is very little promotion outside selected groups, however group sales are a solid possibility that usually comes with 1 free parking pass. Presumable for the group organizer. Do buy your parking pass in advance, they strongly discourage same day parking and jack the price up and push you to Lot 33.

Been to McGuirk many times. My daughter went to UMass and was in that very same marching band. The joke is people sit through football just for the band. Kind of true.

Hope you have a good time and perhaps this season will be the start of returning to being respectable. With Don Brown and company and this being the first year we are close to being at the scholarship limit with the new transfer rules. verandaman sent you a PM

This is the view with 80% of the new turf in and without the Tents in the south end.

Buy your parking passes in advance.

The Massachusetts men's basketball team has paused all team activities following a positive COVID-19 test result among the program's Tier 1 personnel, which consists of coaches, student-athletes, team managers and support staff. Results were detected during COVID-19 surveillance testing, which is conducted three times a week in accordance with NCAA guidelines.

The basketball program is following state, local and University public health guidelines, to ensure the health and safety of all student-athletes, coaches, staff and the greater campus and Amherst communities.

Due to a pause in team activities, UMass will not participate in the Multiple Team Event at Mohegan Sun previously scheduled to start next week. The entire non-conference men's basketball schedule will be announced at a later date.

  9. Hey Verandaman, Things are ok. Sadly have pre-diabetes so stopped drinking recently until my weight drops by 10 lbs or more.

Will have to meetup at UConn next year and find a way to exchange emails and#'s.

Having just 5 home games is a bit of a bummer. Our 2022 schedule is a bit dicey with 5 straight home games to kick-off the season. Don't like. Suggested delaying a game with Boston College with a home game against a local FCS team, College of the Holy Cross from Worcester. Future schedules seem to have some movement and fine tuning. The good news is we are finally have some stadium improvements, but no expansion until beyond 2024.

Take care and hope you guys do well. Kind of surprised we don't play in BB. Our BB has been in the dumpster and McCall better show us something.

  10. Like this 6 game series with you Lake people. Some chatter about the great time people had in Buffalo during the Frozen Four.

I like this series for #UMass. More MAC series are helpful to building out schedule for future and a good level of opponent for Minutemen.
