Does Oats’ agent represent the entire staff? I know there is some connection/cooperation but I guess I never thought about it.
-
It is. And they are still students.
-
Would love to top off this class with one more touted HS recruit. Two freshman a year and the rest JUCO and transfers is a perfect recipe for consistency and growth. Love transfers because they get to practice and learn a system for a year. I do agree Oats and company keep one upping themselves year after year. Hawkins, will love it here. Did we mention coach has snowmobiles and a boat. Just saying.

Come on... we all know it’s Bearden.

Oats on the Jim Rome show talking about Antonio Brown
“Shoot you know what I said though, all to Bills Mafia? They might be lucky they didn’t get Antonio Brown. Who knows? There might be something better. We had kids leave our program that people thought would hurt our program. Sometimes it’s better, you know, who you lose — addition by subtraction, or who you don’t get in Free Agency. I think the Bills will be alright. I like the staff, I like what they got going here.”

We are not dropping football. Never. We just need to stop overpaying for it. UB at the very best is a stepping stone for a coaches next job. So admit it to ourselves, and only pay for cheap hungry young coaching talent, wave to them on their way out, and get another. I wouldn’t even mind if other MAC schools could poach our football coaches. The dream football season, we go undefeated, ranked all year, and we may still end up in a meaningless bowl game on that stupid blue field in Boise. Oh, and noone gets hurts. Invest in basketball.

so we should keep talking about it? Haha, we totally will.

The field house isn’t going anywhere. Sweet.

Lol everyone got really mad about wanting the team to play well and have momentum going into the tournament...
Who? Where? I want in.

Pay the man and see where this goes.

Yup. I won’t let my kids play football. Why watch it. Why be a fan of a sport where kids are killing them selves. Even rugby is better.

No way, no how. If that is the case, I'm not even watching any games anymore, as the whole thing is a sham. Even with a Thursday exit, which won't happen, they would still have a NET and kenpom in low-mid 20s, thats not a 10-11 seed.
Okay, the NCAA will not notice the loss of one viewer. But, 25 in kenpom is a 7. Torvik has us at 30, that’s an 8. We need to win out and hope no teams greatly increase their resume this week because winning the MAC will not increase our standing and a loss would have us fall.
-
I think if UB has an early exit in Cleveland we may fall to a 10, Thursday exit an 11. If UB wins the MAC tourney, we can be as high as a 5 or 6, but most likely a 7. We need some early exits by some Teams in other conference tournaments. Fun week, but we all know the drill.

Not if we’re playing an upset winner
Except #2 teams rarely get upset. I had the numbers once, but if my memory is correct, it is like 2-3% of the time. The 1 seed was zero till last year. But 2 seeds usually get to the second weekend, and almost always the second round (I guess we call it the third round now.)

I just think it should reseed after campus games. That's my only change that teams who earned top seeds deserve.
Why so realistic/reasonable? This is a fan board. I also think head coaches should be allowed to carry machetes. But they can only use them once.
-
Sadly the way I see it play out is the committee lazily uses the 7 line for all the “at large” kids. UB, Wofford, Nevada, and whom ever comes in 2nd in the AAC. Wear your home jerseys once, then put on the underdog colors and stop making noise.
-
I always thought it would be cool if after the first round of campus games the top seed could pick who they play, then 2nd seed chooses, etc.. kinda like a red rover, red rover like situation, then the bracket is set. Would make for good TV and some motivational bulletin boards.

CJ is better then TB. But TB brought a program out of the abyss,. Vote how you will...
-
My vote for CD is because what those numbers do not show is the weight lifting she did when Summer Hemphill was unavailable. But damn the MAC has become a very talented conference for women’s ball.

Love everything about this thread.

The Southern Conference definitely caught lightening in a bottle this year. Good for them.

I thought I’d post this here because activity in this thread may lead to more people remembering to vote, plus who needs another thread.

I think one of Nate’s greatest attributes, is the amount of emphasis he puts on gym time. And you see the players trying to give/get his approval/notice/recognition in this area. I remember thinking CJ as a frosh will never be a great shooter.... release/form is a little unnothodox. Obviously I was horribly wrong, but Nate recruiting gym rats and rewarding the practice is a difference maker. I would not be surprised if there are nanny cams around the gym at Alumni. In my head I picture the players after class shooting in the gym and in the stands are stuffed animals with an unusually large eyeball, or wearing a large pendant, etc. work ethic. Nice to have. And great to know it is being taught.

Wofford hasn't beaten anyone, but managed 3 Q1 wins by virtue of the SoCon road schedule. That's enough to get you in and more than we have. Furman, ETSU, and UNCG all qualify for Q1 road wins. Wofford went and beat them all by double digits on the road.
They've won 18 straight and have all the efficiency numbers to push them to 14th net. Their only 4 losses are to P5 tournament teams. Which is also more than we can say with our losses to NIU/BG. They consistently win by 15+.
It really isn't asking much to beat the worst team in the conference by 15+ on the road (after winning by 47 at home).
Yup. The Southern conference is worse then the MAC, but is strong on top. Ball St, Kent and Toledo failed us this year. Had they not fallen apart, UB could be thinking about a 3 seed. Now we are facing a 6 or 7 and praying to stay at a 5. We earned the ability to have an off night. But when it happened at NIU, there is consequences.

You guys know that Bo Ryan already retired right? Greg Gard (I think) is a young man doing a good job. I don’t foresee a Wisconsin opening anywhere in the near future.
