I love watching these guys play. Really makes me miss the days when they were at UB

Played at Romulus under Nate Oats and with Wes Clark. So that means no Davonta Jordan which is surprising and no Jayvon Graves. I think Graves might join Mid American Unity, he shared something of their on Instagram and it might make more sense for him with them playing in Ohio. He’s also connected to Romeo Travis from SVSM.
We also never got an official announcement for CJ and the TBT podcast said he won’t be playing this year, but he’s listed on the roster. I know his wife just had a baby so maybe he’d join for the second weekend if we make it that far
Graves is officially on the mid American unity roster. Feels weird that he isn’t on the Buffalo team

Segu scored 13 points today, not bad

Rumors are that USC and UCLA are headed to the Big 10 and this is just the tip of the iceberg. College sports as we knew it might be dead.

I’m guessing graves and Jordan either were busy or didn’t want to play because there are 2 non-UB players on the team

The Athletic's draft guide has Jeenathan ranked as the 94th best prospect

One time Bull committ / decommitt, Josiah Freeman is heading to JUCO - Howard College in Big Spring, TX.
I honestly didn't know that you could go to JUCO after 2 years in D1.

So my guess is these players going to schools that are a step up in conference like the SEC aren’t necessarily going for the best school or winning program, it’s probably the school with the best opportunity to play the most minutes. (Or the most NIL cash) The game has sure changed.
Mid major programs are taking hits now every year and why hasn’t anyone made a big deal about it?
Also because mid majors are also getting transfers from power conference schools

Kyle Lofton is transferring from St Bonaventure to Florida.

Very cool to see a hard worker get a shot. At that position and what he can do, he could stick somewhere, special teams, specialty, etc. or a practice squad. Seems like a guy teams would want to be around.
If he performs he definitely could make the team. Giants have a big need at TE. They drafted someone and signed Alkins and Seals-Jones to small contracts, so he has a shot.

I personally would be inclined to donate if I knew what I was donating towards. I think UB Stadium needs a major overhaul. I am aware this is not cheap, and my pittance of donations would not make a dent, but I would feel much more comfortable donating if there was a long-term strategic vision, funding target goals, etc., to achieve this (for example). I am sure internally these goals are set, but as a casual outsider, it's not visible to me, and I don't want my money going into a black hole.
As it stands, I feel it's better to use my donations to the Honors College or the School of Management. I'm not opposed to donating to athletics - hell, I'm here on this board - but I have no idea the overall vision for athletics, and that stops me from donating.
I feel the same way. Not really sure what Alnutt’s priorities are.

He seemed like the fun variety people like being around (most of the time).
Except for Jim Boeheim haha

Going to be a good training camp battle between him and No One. He has been balling out at Nowheresville this season.

I dont have awareness? I literally said in my post, “sure players go in the portal all the time” in my post. How is that lacking awareness?
So you don’t think Skogman leaving has anything to do with Whitesell? Completely unrelated… what is with you people? Are you related to him or something?
I personally want Whitesell gone. But at this point I very rarely hold transfers against a coach, it is pretty well established now that this is the new norm. If there is one thing Whitesell has actually been very good with since he became coach, it is retaining players. The fact that Williams, Segu, and/or Mballa did not enter the portal at all is actually unusual at this point.

Every player besides 1 from LSU will be entering the draft or portal. The portal is the new norm whether we like it or not.

Not sure if I missed this on here but Fagan entered the portal. Also an surprised he has any eligibility left.

I am one of those who thought and thinks that with the right coaching Williams can reach higher heights. But that’s a knock on Whitesell not Williams. Just look at Graves. I always thought Williams was a perfect nba caliber player bc he’s a 3 and D wing with length. Just a shame we couldn’t unlock that full potential. Wish him all the best. Break through!
I think Williams has the best shot of any UB players to go pro even if he wasn’t the best UB player ever. Length, athleticism, and shooting ability.

From TBN
Whitesell’s contract extension includes an agreement that the school would owe him $600,000 if he is terminated by UB before April 5, 2022, and that buyout would drop by $100,000 in each of the following years, until the expiration date of the contract.
If Whitesell is to leave before April 5, 2022, he would owe UB $600,000, and that figure would drop by $100,000 in each of the following years, until the expiration date of the contract.
That is a pretty cheap buyout but I don’t see it happening. I guess if it is going to happen it will on April 5.

I think that's a bit harsh. They were incredible advocates for the school and Segu is half the reason we have such good recruiting classes lately. IMO Their biggest issue was that they were a class of selfish players (posting their stats after losses has become commonplace that last few years in this program) and didn't know how to play as a team. When you combined that with a hands off coach who let's them play ISO ball all day it's a bad situation all around.
I'm not saying they are bad people, basketball players, or I don't wish the best for them. Like you said, they played selfishly and often seemed more intereted in social media and talking trash than they did winning. A big part of that is on the coach, but they should also take responsibility.
I do agree that they did help advocate for the school in recruiting and worked hard (Williams and Segu always stayed after games to put up shots). I just personally did not love watching them play.

Is 19 wins with this roster when it ends on a 3 game losing streak "good enough" for anybody here?
Honestly asking.
Not for me. I was definitely one of the ones saying to give Whitesell 2-3 years during his first year when the team wasn't performing well, it was a young group with a lot of turnover. But this team was one of the oldest in the country and supposedly the most "talented" (by recruit rankings) that we have ever had. It is time to move on, not sure if Alnutt pulls the trigger though.
-
Hopefully Whitesell "retires" now that the season is over. Might be a hot take but I am not going to miss Williams-Segu-Mballa. I hope the next group plays more like CJ-Perk-Jordan-Caruthers-Harris group, team basketball with hard nose defense.

4-5, I honestly didn't see a lot out of the coaching staff last year to make me think otherwise.
