I think our solution here is to continue the home-home in the same season until we can find schools that want to play us. It sucks because we'd put more eggs in a single basket (side note: we should be rooting hard for SIU the rest of the season), but it can help us a lot if we get a good MM.

That’s just... so few. I don’t get it. What will it take for students to care?
Not sure about that number. The student baseline has been pretty full for the games so far.

This is concerning. Can’t help but think of St Mary’s being ranked and then getting snubbed.
West Virginia just lost to Rhode Island a team currently 5th in the A10 according to Kenpom. West Virginia has not beat a single top-100 team this year. Their best win is against St Joes.
I have a feeling no credit will be given for the WVU win by the end of the year.
We really need San Francisco to Beat Stanford. Without is our wins don’t look to good.
Well a win vs Marquette could help us a lot

Now everybody's going D3
Winning nattys at UWW >> making the playoffs a few times at JCU
This looks like a bad hire on paper but anything’s probably better than (Terry) Bowdenball

5513 seems low because the ticket office was only selling GA seats today, but without the majority of the students on campus, I consider it a win. If we get this turnout without students, MAC play is going to be great.

So, who's here in the student section now?

Jeremy Jacobs being the prime example.
The decision to go D3 hurt us for decades longer than we were actually D3. The generation that has a ton of money now went to school when there was no sports culture.

The podcast/twitter handle is new, but those guys have been following the team for a while. Brought the noise for the women’s games in Cleveland this year
The more coverage the merrier.

Ireland showed me all it takes is a t-shirt to get elementary kids to cheer for you, but the older kids, that's harder.
That also works for the FSU band, except when you beat them. Oops

I feel like we played vs Manhattan a few years ago and nobody (including Manhattan fans) showed up. Maybe I'm just making stuff up.

Thanks rma, some of the graduated transplants are out of touch. 😞
I was worried I wouldn't be able to fill my apartment up with UB crap once I graduated, but they've had some solid giveaways the past few years.
FWIW, the giveaway for the WBB game last year helped bring in a 2k crowd vs Toledo. So you aren't off base at all.

So what if during finals and break, every student could bring 2 to 3 friends with them for free?
The past few years, this year included, students can do that. 1 free friend, additional tagalongs pay $10.
Need the core True Blue people to make it loud though.
41 minutes ago, 121Merrimac said:But, what about continuing the same type of give-a-ways (free t-shirt to the first xxx) instead of student, to the first anyone (while the students are away).
This is also done. Past few years has been tee shirts and bobbleheads. This year I think the game vs Stanford is free shirts.

Anybody know if you can see open seats anymore? Went on Ticketmaster yesterday and it didn’t show the seats on the map, just listed out

I lived through 2 NCAA probations (but was not involved in either)
Here I was hoping you had a “replica” Reggie Bush Heisman trophy hidden away somewhere...

We have to stop making excuses. Now is the time for sell outs. If Alumni can't get sold out with UB being ranked and playing a tough opponent then what are we even doing here? Might as well pack up and go home. Seriously, Alumni isn't big. This game is a sell out.
I completely agree - except on the pack up and go home. This would be embarrassing if we aren’t at or around capacity.
Weekday games are hard to make, okay here’s one on the weekend. We played a D2 school last time, here’s a decent mid major. It’s at 2 in the afternoon, not 7 at night. Sabres aren’t home, or even playing at the same time
I give a small pass if we don’t completely sell out, since students would give us a good boost, but I suspect most will be home. But we should be able to find 6k people in the area to show up.

After a few months of using the new site, the new software is a great improvement - kinda like our teams the past few years. UBFan is one of the few sites that I have whitelisted on my adblocking software.
A suggestion - Can we enable editing of posts?

“discovered the quality of our academic programs” made me laugh. I always thought the school was bankrupt and just a cover for elaborate postal scams. Isn’t their med program based on leaches and prayer?
They aren't terrible in terms of rankings. Between Geneseo and New Paltz, above Niagara and one rank higher than Canisius.
Still lower ranked than my safety schools, but has some form of admission standards unlike some MAC schools. Akron will let you in without a welding certificate.

If they were branded “Syracuse” or “Ohio State,” it would be completely different.
What about "New York"?

If the students aren't going to be there - do people still want to meet up in the end zone and make some noise? Return of the alumni? I'm trying not to be the organizer (because I am in most things) but it was my idea, so I stand by it.
My SO and I will be in attendance in the end zone. I’ll be waving a sign commemorating CJ’s “good day”

Are students still on campus this Saturday? I know finals are this week. I hope AA is rocking. This team hasn't had many home games and this is the toughest so far. May even be the toughest home game of the season. Must defend our home court.
Most will be home.
