Don’t think we’ll be getting anyone from this AAU program while BB is the coach

Impressive list of schools for Jack.

First assistant coach hire. Obviously a UB basketball alum, but was hoping for someone more inspiring than a Canisius assistant.

Did Halcovage decline the Bucknell job or was he never offered it?

Good article on Safir from The Athletic last year.

Have had the name Jon Safir come up now. Diving into that now
Interesting. Would be a big jump for him, but he is well regarded in the analytics community from what I have read.

Some names that I think UB should reach out to. I think most on this list are highly unlikely given who has already turned down the job.
John Becker
Speedy Claxton
Jared Grasso
Levelle Moton
Amir Abdur-Rahim
Darrin Horn
Bucky McMillan
Joe Gallo

Not sure, but it seems like it.
How much is Alnutt hamstrung by Tripathi/SUNY budget wise?

Jesus. Someone call the local chevy or ford dealership. Tell them to give some kids some pickups or something.
Another knock on the AD and athletic department as a whole.

We can assume McCollum turned down the job as well correct? Have not seen that officially reported, but seems like it is trending that way.
-
Alnutt deserves a lot of heat for the last 4 years of UB MBB. Ruined all momentum we had from Hurley/Oats. Not sure if it is enough to put him on the hot seat with Football and WBB on the right track, but overall have not been thrilled with his tenure.

Oregon assistant coach.

Interesting video. Does anyone know what UB’s collective/NIL looks like compared to the rest of the MAC and mid-majors?

Zid and Kidtrell are solid players, but the only two players I think will truly hurt to lose are Curtis Jones and Issac Jack.

Cohen is my first choice by a mile. He's a coaching prodigy and a super impressive young guy. Got his start hand-writing letters to coaches while still at Williamsville North. Transferred to UB after a short D3 career at Hobart and was a manager for the 2005 MACT heartbreaker. Connected with Josh Pastner at Arizona and has grinded for a decade and a half with stops including Rice, Harvard, Stanford, and now Xavier where he is Sean Miller's associate head coach.
He's regarded as an X's and O's guy and basketball junkie. But he's also credited with recruiting Tyrell Terry, Ziaire Williams, and Harrison Bryant to Stanford, so he's swam with the big fish. He had to recruit to Harvard and Stanford where academic and culture fits are a challenge, and I want UBMBB to head toward a more cerebral brand of play with more 4-year guys.
The short podcast below is a good intro. Mentions he's a massive Bills fan and apologizes to Cinci fans in advance. He seems like the perfect balance of a high ceiling hire who is likely destined to be a high-major coach someday, but one whose local ties leave the possibility of a 5-8 year run here.
Very impressive resume. Would like this hire a lot too.

Hodgson or Matt Langel.

Best wishes to Whitesell and his family. He seemed like a great guy from all reports.
My top candidates personally are:
1) Hodgson
2) Matt Langel (Colgate head coach)
I liked the Pastner suggestion from someone above as well.

The offense needs to run through Curtis Jones. Foster should really be the backup PG, but I’m not sure if they have anyone else ready to step up. Foster not being able to shoot 3’s or free throws is killer in a bad way. My preferred lineup would be the below when healthy.
C Jones
powell
Adams
Hardnert
Jack
