  1. I feel like this one could be a blowout. Akron really struggles offensively, they shoot the 9th highest percentage of 3s and make them at the 299th rate. They could get run out of the gym early. They have one true PG listed at a generous 5'8", he's gonna get man handled by our guards. Also they really only play 7 so they'll probably get gassed and/or into foul trouble. Not much about Akron scares me.

  2. I'm not sure what pro basketball prospects Caruthers has but I'd love to see him pull a Quinten Rollins.  Rollins led the MAC in steals his senior year at Miami (OH) then played football as a CB for one year, won MAC defensive POY and was a 2nd round pick in the NFL draft.

When they're playing well and have their heads on straight I'm not sure there is one!  Problem recently has been that the team in general has been taking halves or long stretches of halves off on defense.  It's not about quality, it's about consistency.  They're still fantastic, but the team just goes to sleep on D for long stretches, especially recently.

Hard disagree to be honest. Our fast style of play is going to lead to seem easy buckets here and there but overall I think our defense is fine. With the MAC as competitive as it is the margin is razor thin and with a team this good we're going to run into hot teams in front of record crowds. Someday people will understand shots going in on a given day isn't necessarily an indictment on the defense. https://theathletic.com/720048/2018/12/18/kenpom-shooting-and-defending-the-3-is-random-business-i-e-relax-its-early/

As for an at large bid, MAC commish said we are 7th ranked conference - that’s not exactly a strong argument for a second team in the tournament.

Assuming he meant NET? But in KenPom the 7th ranked conference has gotten *at least* (in most cases more) 2 bids every year in the last decade. Granted the MAC is currently 9th in KP.

  5. 1.) Save me the bullshit about effort, you weren't watching the same game if you're questioning that.

2.) Harris is struggling but he's still our 3rd best player, benching him isn't the answer. Especially if you're one of the cynical people here that think we have to win the tourney. If that's our only chance than our biggest concern should be getting Harris hot for the tourney (we're still an at Large team tho)

  6. I'd be pretty shocked if he started from day 1. I can't imagine we start more than one true big and I feel Andre Allen probably gets that spot fairly easily. I'm also not sure based on the highlights that I watched that Hawkins is in the shape necessary to play starter minutes right away. That said he'd still be a good get and would get key bench minutes right away I think.

  7. Also not sure where this bad/lazy defense narrative comes from. Held them 7% below their average points per possession on the year in spite of playing them on the road and having them hit several undefendable circus shots early on. Also held their best player 4 points below his average on an extra shot.

Alright, I guess I should be thrilled with four minutes of good ball against mediocre competition.

Enjoy your dead board with ten members. I’m out.

I mean they covered the spread set for the #14 team in the nation. People are delusional if they expect easy 20 point wins every game. People are also delusional if they think effort is the only thing to be blamed in a bad performance. You will be missed.

that's a terrible effort by Jordan to end the half. The team absolutely needs him to be better than 30% from the line, that's middle school level.

Good thing he's over 32% then huh? Regardless getting to the rim in 4 seconds is not a "terrible effort". Unsurprisingly he's not a perfect player, if that means losing .7 points per game or whatever from FT shooting and we get everything else he brings to the table in fine with that.
