As for an at large bid, MAC commish said we are 7th ranked conference - that’s not exactly a strong argument for a second team in the tournament.

Assuming he meant NET? But in KenPom the 7th ranked conference has gotten *at least* (in most cases more) 2 bids every year in the last decade. Granted the MAC is currently 9th in KP.

  2. 1.) Save me the bullshit about effort, you weren't watching the same game if you're questioning that.

2.) Harris is struggling but he's still our 3rd best player, benching him isn't the answer. Especially if you're one of the cynical people here that think we have to win the tourney. If that's our only chance than our biggest concern should be getting Harris hot for the tourney (we're still an at Large team tho)

  3. I'd be pretty shocked if he started from day 1. I can't imagine we start more than one true big and I feel Andre Allen probably gets that spot fairly easily. I'm also not sure based on the highlights that I watched that Hawkins is in the shape necessary to play starter minutes right away. That said he'd still be a good get and would get key bench minutes right away I think.

  4. Also not sure where this bad/lazy defense narrative comes from. Held them 7% below their average points per possession on the year in spite of playing them on the road and having them hit several undefendable circus shots early on. Also held their best player 4 points below his average on an extra shot.

Alright, I guess I should be thrilled with four minutes of good ball against mediocre competition.

Enjoy your dead board with ten members. I’m out.

I mean they covered the spread set for the #14 team in the nation. People are delusional if they expect easy 20 point wins every game. People are also delusional if they think effort is the only thing to be blamed in a bad performance. You will be missed.

that's a terrible effort by Jordan to end the half. The team absolutely needs him to be better than 30% from the line, that's middle school level.

Good thing he's over 32% then huh? Regardless getting to the rim in 4 seconds is not a "terrible effort". Unsurprisingly he's not a perfect player, if that means losing .7 points per game or whatever from FT shooting and we get everything else he brings to the table in fine with that.

As of today, what percentage influence does the preseason rankings have on KENPOM and Pomeroy?  Does anyone know or where to find it?

There is some guy who has not cast a single vote for UB bball this season in the poll and comments that he uses the computer rankings as his basis.  In the latest poll he was the only holdout.

I'm not sure but if I recall correctly he's said in the past preseason rankings are factored out completely by late January.

We've risen or stayed about the same in KenPom after every game this season except for Marquette meaning we've continually outperformed our projections. We're sitting at #21 and we still might not have converged on our true ranking. Love a guy that tries to use analytics when he doesn't have an understanding of them. That guy has no excuse to not rank us next week (barring a catastrophe vs. Miami).

  8. A fun drinking game for the game tommorow that my roommates and I used to play: take a drink everytime former UB commit Nate Navigato (we dodged a bullet) dribbles the ball. Make sure to pregame because you won't drink much during the game.

Outside of Willie Jackson Toledo is super unathletic and their defense shows it. Also Davonta and Dontay should be able to clamp Sanford. I don't think this game is that close to be honest.

  9. Can't find where he posted it anymore but earlier Hodgson posted that he was going to Florida to watch some future Bulls. Cadwell is in Florida but Hodgson posted on Instagram that he's near East Florida State.. East Florida State played College of Central Florida today. Maybe a Quenton Jackson commit coming soon?

At least 200 sometimes up to 500.

Definitely under estimating it. As a former member of the TB e-board we occasionally got numbers. I don't recall exact numbers but I remember being disappointed we were just short of 1k for Akron a couple years ago. That was with both end zones mostly full. So our biggest games we're definitely over 1k and average games are probably somewhere just south of 500 if the one end zone is mostly full. Still not what you want at a school of our size but I think concerns are over blown on this site. To me the bigger issue is the majority of kids that do show up not standing up and being louder. I think it's a social pressure thing of not wanting to be the first of a whole section standing, I see it in the general public with just cheering or doing the Horns Up too.

  11. Yes we're rivals. Bona fans like to act like we're not because "history" is the one thing they can hold over our head. It eats them alive that we have the more recent tourney win (nobody counts your de facto home play in game against a UCLA team that got in based on name). We have as many tourney appearances in 4 years as they have in 40. We land better recruiting classes (thus accusations that we're dirty), I mean they start a kid from Amherst that we weren't even bothered to offer. Imagine chanting "we want UB" and then turning around and acting like you don't care about this game because we're not rivals. I've never participated in a "we want Dartmouth" chant.
