Not disputing he might be a good coach, but, a head coach at D-1, he is quite mediocre.

Completely agree with you Mikes. I'm not dismissing what he's done, just saying that he never could turn the corner. I understand he was an assistant at Alabama, and I think he could do great as an assistant on a big team, but not as a head coach.

All the P-5 head coaches have a killer instinct that I think Reggie lacks.

Well, look what he's doing to Canisius. I'm not saying he has been 100% of the problem to their downfall this year. But, the fact that Molson and Reese have been so incredibly bad this year, is a real indication of something....and I'm not sure what really.

I thought those 2 were going be like Khalil Dukes and Matt Scott from Niagara last season and tear the MAAC apart. And it's the absolute opposite.

I don't know, maybe Witherspoon just doesn't have what it takes to coach D-1 basketball? Despite some successful seasons, it just seems like he reeks of mediocrity and does holds rosters back.

Reggie very clearly doesn't have what it takes to coach D-1. I love the guy and will always remember how much he did for UB, but I distinctly remember him having a no dunk policy, which is just ludicrous. Dunks are flashy, sure, but they also help energize fans and the team.

Love the guy, but just can't be a head coach for D-1

Calling a timeout way past the point of return is pretty on-brand from my recollection. No disrespect, I still somewhat cherish the tshirt I have with his face on it.

Does anyone here remember the foam spoons they would give out when Reggie was at UB? I loved that thing, but eventually the white piping came off and it was just a giant blue foam spoon with nothing on it.

I realized today, what bothers me most about Tyree and now KJ putting on for possible transfers is the message it sends to the rest of the team.  You're the all-MAC returning senior QB, and receiver.  You're the leaders of this team from now on, the ones setting the example.  Well it's one heck of an example, one heck of a vote of confidence in your coaches and teammates.  It's not a message that says "we fell short this year but we're committed to finishing the job next year" - quite the opposite. This doesn't look like "building a winning culture".  I know fully well it may be in their personal interest to look into this - fine, but don't tell me there's honor in that.

Could not agree more. I hate the whole idea of leaving your teammates in the lurch after one of our better seasons.

Your performance here was good enough for people to start talking about you being drafted, so you're going to use that to go ride the bench or get crushed at another team just because of the name. That's some bullshit.

Tyree has a locked down starting job with an off season to improve things like, idk, TAKING CARE OF THE GOD DAMN BALL, not to mention working with our great rbs and wr core and he could come out next season and really show his ability to be drafted high next year.

Instead he's going to go to another school just for the name... I'm sorry, but for as much as he's done for us, if he goes to another school, I hope he rides the bench into obscurity or gets crushed by D's in whatever league he lands in.

Yea, but Southern U is also really, really bad...

Haha, true, but I think Marquette has too many threats for the big east to contain.

Behind Howard, you've got the Hauser brothers, who are great behind the arc and inside the paint. Also, Chartouny can get hot, but is a little more streaky.

And let's not forget John who owns that paint, with Anim behind him who's got some good presence inside the paint, but not as aggressive as John.

  7. I'm with you man, the article sounded back handed, but really, it's a positive article. Let's not forget that the only reason that we are 14 is because we had beaten WV at home and we are undefeated. I wish I could say there was more to it than that, but there really isn't. We're getting respect because we are looking good right now, but we haven't really had anything to put us down as a top flight team.

I love to dream of a long time run and look into a crystal ball to see us hoist a national title, but I would say that with the way we're shooting right now, regardless of how good our defense is, we could not stare down a Michigan or Duke right now. We might hang tough with Tennessee or Texas Tech, but we would probably still drop it due to our shooting.

I'm not trying to take wind out of sails here, especially since I would make a deal with the devil to see us hoist, but we really need to have a complete game before we can really have any idea of what kind of team we'll be in March.

Playing the defense we have been, with the turnovers, and shooting above 50% for the game with about a 40% from 3 and I think we could handle any team in the league. I also believe those numbers are possible, albeit lofty
