Per a source: Novinsky has committed to Lance and Kansas

Honestly, that would make sense. He could start against B12 competition and raise his draft stock significantly. That being said they won’t win many games and it has a chance to backfire. Hope it works out for all involved

Agreed, I think he is a great hire in the long run. I'm hopeful he can right the ship and keep it on course for this season. We have a very good recruiting class and good core. The guys in the portal I'm most concerned about are the O-Line guys. We need to bring them back into the fold, that's our strength and we will need our running attack. Meyers is the question. Perhaps he doesn't see a future here or maybe he thinks this a new shot for him. Alot may depend upon the OC and what style of offense he uses.

Not that I wouldn’t love Myers back, but I’m more concerned about the OLine right now. We know what we have in KVT but I have no clue how good the backup OLine is

  3. It’s definitely a mess. 6 players in and of itself isn’t bad, but they include some of our best. My worry is that there’s a mass exodus if Alnutt doesn’t nail the hire. In a perfect world the new coach comes in and convinces the players to keep the band together and run it back. Might be wishful thinking.

Yadda yadda yadda He’s just getting his name out there yadda yadda yadda. He ain’t getting drafted. Focus on the upcoming season and let’s get back to the tournament. Why do players really bother doing it.

They do it to get feedback on their game. Allows them to focus on things they need to improve on at the next level

Yet he didn't win and it's not looking like we will sustain that success...

I don’t want to assume the 2nd part, but yeah not being able to win the MAC wasn’t ideal. In game strategy didn’t seem good. Blown leads weren’t good. Big game results weren’t good (though we did win 2 bowl games, which is great). In all I’d be willing to bet leipold would’ve been gone sooner if he was better at some of those things.

It's May 4th. Pretty much the entire staff just left. 3 players (including 2 All-MAC selections) just entered the portal. An anonymous player was quoted saying "things are about to get real interesting". It kinda feels like a mess...

It does feel like a mess, and our AD is paid very well to clean it up. IMO the success of his tenure is make or break with what happens next

Maybe you should follow the Bills a little more. If you knew what the Ryan regime was like you'd never want them near this team.

he’d be a home run in recruiting though! Give the guy credit he can talk the talk

  8. Ianello is the easy choice, but to be honest I’m getting a little tired of Alnutt just making easy choices, he’s paid to do better than that. The athletics department has to weigh continuity vs potential. I know it’s not fair to the current football staff but I feel like Whitesell burned the one freebie easy hire for us. Doing it again is just saying we’re fine with the status quo. Hopefully not a lot of players jump ship this late in the game. I say go after a big hire, and do it quickly. Ask the players to wait and hear out the new coach, allow him to make their pitch. Also for the record I was fine with the Whitesell hire and am still one of his biggest supporters around here, but I just don’t want a revolving door of promoting from within to become our MO.

  9. Lance built up a good, stable program, and I don’t blame him for taking the payday. For a guy who couldn’t win a MAC championship it’s a nice promotion. That being said he left the program in much better shape than he found it, and I guess that’s all you can ask. I’m not happy he’s leaving but I’m not devastated either.

Is Jack on scholarship? I don't know the deal with his mom being an employee if he gets a free ride either way. If I recall correctly its what Michigan was doing with juwan howards son in walking on because he gets a free education just for being an employees son

    And buddy Boeheim

I would really like to see Alnutt come out and offer Lance close to what he deserves after all this (granted he stays). The fact he is only making 500k/year is ridiculous. We were shelling out close to 1M for Oats and we should do the same if not more for Lance if we are serious about becoming a consistent competitive program.

If we are only willing to pay our most successful football coach in D1 era 500k/year then we as fans have to temper our expectations on the ceiling and floor of this program.

He has gotten raises pretty much every year, but yes now that he’s stabilized and grown the program to be consistently competitive it’s time to up our game. A lot comes down to donors too though, I know they had a lot lined up for Nate
